When should a baby start talking?
« on: January 03, 2015, 11:00:26 am »
Hi there mga mommies!

Every child is different but to give you an idea, you can search the net for talking milestones. For 18mos old, they may be able to speak 2 word sentences like..mommy eat. Mommy hot.

Other babies would start to talk earlier..others a bit late. I would suggest to ask your pedia about this. Tho, they may generally say, everything is ok. Dont worry about it.. thats why I highly recommend to see a dev ped as they are the ones who are highly trained to check and assess our babies' milestones. For your peace of mind and for your baby's protection. After my first daughter, I am now a strong believer of early and proactive intervention.

Yes tama every child is different. Hindi porke same age is same din ang progress or development. Yun pamangkin ng hubby ko almost 2 years old bago nakapagsalita. :)

I agree na every child is unique, but as a parent,  I'd rather be proactive. You can check the developmental milestones to have an idea of what to expect at your child's age. Kahit sa baby book i think meron yan. If you think masyado na delayed ang baby mo,  better have him checked by a dev ped. Mahirap kasi to wait until she finally start talking kasi for me better not deprive your child of having an early intervention if she really needs one, and the only person who can properly assess her is the dev ped. Anyway, wala naman mawawala kung maevaluate sya agad, for your peace of mind na din. Lucky are those parents who opted to wait and see, na nagsalita din ang kids, but hindi lahat ng cases ganun realistically speaking, what if di ganun ang case ng baby mo, you would just end up waiting in vain depriving your kid of the much needed intervention di ba..

I have 2 kids, my son is 4 yrs old while baby girl is 18 mos old. At 13 mos old, may mga 2 word phrases na at fully conversant before he turned 2. My baby girl naman madami ng words, nasasabi na nya gusto nya using words like open, dede, off, eat, pupu, wiwi etc, but wala pa sya mga 2 word phrases. Im not worried though kasi at par pa din sya to other kids her age.

My daughter was a late bloomer, at 18 months she had a handful of words lang-mama, papa, yaya. When she turned 2, boom, her vocabulary started to broaden, she could construct 5-6 word sentences by 2 yrs and 3 months and now, a month shy of turning 3, she's constantly talking :) if you have any concerns, best to see a specialist. Try also having your baby interact with other babies-playdates, classes, etc

On top of that, we brought her to Singapore when she turned 1 until a week before she turned 2. At 2 years old, she could only say a few single words. So I told my baby's pedia and she said that I should wait for a few months kasi my girl was exposed to different languages. Thankfully, lumawak din yung vocabulary nya when she turned 2 years and 3 months. As in super daldal bigla. Ang dami kwento at lahat gusto ikwento.

Thank you for your replies. Puro babble lang kase, but kanina, my mom was singing and sabi 'baby say alleluia', then sabi ni baby 'ayuya', tapos clap siya.

Sumusunod sa instructions like 'go to mommy', 'kiss mommy/kuya' and pag may gusto tinuturo.

sis depende din talaga kasi sa bata...my son started saying "ma-ma" when he was more than 2 months old, tapos dere-derecho na, una cya nakapagsalita bago magkaron ng ngipin =)...

my 16 month old mama, dada, ganyan alam nya and she babbles a lot too. Very madaldal. Hindi ako worried and I just let her be. So husband and I have to make a conscious effort talaga na tagalog sya.

I know someone 2 yrs old na di pa nagsasalita kasi kapampangan, tagalog at english ang sinasalita sa bahay nila. So confused siguro yung bata.

sa bahay po, tagalog kami naguusap ng mga cousins and parents ko, but pag si baby ang kausap and sibling niya, english. i felt relieved naman kahapon sa kinuwento nina mama ko, then narinig ko rin siya sabihin yung "alleluia" na "ayuya" pag siya nagsabi.

sana magsalita na siya.

Napapaisip din ako dito. 7mos pa lang naman si baby, so not expecting her to talk soon. but I'm thinking baka ma-confuse din sya kung ano talaga language gagamitin. English, Tagalog, Bisaya and Fookien kasi madalas naririnig nya from us - halu-halo.

Or pag nasa table kami tapos naguusap-usap mga tao, bigla sya parang "sasabat", babble-babble. Parang nagpapapansin. With matching facial expression pa. Hehe..

Curious na kami ano magiging first word ni baby, hehe..
