Good luck and have safe deliveries!!!

Good news mga sis, head down na si baby! Woohooo! I had my 3d4d rescan yesterday at nako ayaw padin halos magpakita ng mukha! Panay legs at paa ang gusto ipakita haha! Nakadikwatro siya, or yung hands niya nakagrab sa foot niya...or yung foot niya nakarest sa may forehead niya haha! Kulit lang -- pero nagkawindow kami na medyo nagpakita siya at nagopen pa siya ng mata -- all on video! :) I am so excited to see my baby pero 2 months pa ang aantayin ko haha!

All about breastfeeding. She also said na hindi niya kami ipapa-guilt trip, if breastfeeding is not for us, edi hindi - alam niya ang hirap sa ganun kasi sa 3 kids niya, isa lang ang na-ebf niya for a year. Yung first one, sobrang hirap daw siya so nag formula daw agad at yung second naman shifting kasi ang work niya so hirap din daw siya. Sabi nga niya by the 6th week she was ready to jump out the window sa hirap so ang stress daw talaga, not good kaya do what is best for mum and baby.

Ang mga pinaka important na diniscuss ay:
- Baby to latch and have skin to skin within 30mins to 1hour after being delivered
- Sleep when baby sleeps (last week yan din ang main point na sabi saamin. Wag na muna isipin ang "Me" time kasi pag inisip mo pa daw yun...pagod na pagod ka na while caring for the baby at lalo ka mahihirapan)
- Do what works best for baby and mum - Kung sobrang nakakastress magbreastfeed, ok lang naman daw magsupplement ng formula kasi pag stressed ang mum, bababa din daw ang supply. Just as long as nagbbreastfeed padin daw. Irerecommend na breastfeed all the way, pero yun nga, pag talagang stressed na...you can supplement.
- Colostrum for the first few days is JUST what your baby needs, about 2.5ml per feed. Sobrang liit naman daw ng stomachs nila eh (like glass marbles!) and their stomachs will get bigger when the milk comes in.
- It takes 6-8 weeks to establish breastfeeding, takes 3-5 days before milk comes in, first few days colostrum lang.
- During the time na colostrum palang, either breast will do. But when milk comes in, kelangan 1 breast per feed -- kasi daw kung papalit palit...hindi makukuha ni baby ang hind milk -- kundi panay fore-milk lang.
-Get to know your breast so you know kung may lumps, kung may problem, kung may milk pa, kung engorged and kung worse pa (mastitis)
- "Do a burger" (sorry UK ang midwives haha! mga terms nila nakakatawa minsan!) - flatten your breast for the baby to suck -- not just the nipple but the dense area bandang areola. Nipple to nose first then when the baby opens the mouth, lagay na si baby sa breast. Make sure your nipple is hitting the back of the ngalangala. Soft part yun eh so di tayo masasaktan mummies! Always baby to breast daw, not breast to baby :)
- Baby will suck your breast and will create a vacuum, wag daw huhugutin si baby, laging ilagay muna tip ng pinky finger para mawala ang vacuum then pull baby away.
- For sore nipples, best daw ang colostrum/breastmilk to be spread sa nipples then a bit of fresh air.
- Your baby will make more milk for you than any pump. Pumping should start at about 6 weeks and hindi enough na pump ka lang. Massage your breasts first to stimulate then pump then hand express after, kasi di daw naeempty ng pump ang breasts, kelangan may hand expression pa sa huli. Then cold compress.
- Breastmilk is easily digested kesa sa formula kaya they get hungry faster so they'd cry sooner. Feeding takes up to 45 mins per feed and no more than 3 hours in between feeds (baby sleeping or not!). Baka daw kasi magstarvation mode si baby at lalong maging sleepy.
- If they are breastfed, di daw kelangan na palagi silang biniburp. Do that when they're awake..pero kung nakatulog naman daw after mo ibreastfeed, leave the baby alone. Also pag formula fed...kelangan talaga daw iburp every time.
- Night feeding should be the last one to be stopped.

Sorry ang haba! Just wanted to share since malapit lapit na din tayo manganak. :)

I planned for back up options na rin incase may sensitivity si baby sa synthetic material. Nag mix kami kasi we went on a month long road trip vacation. Hindi nga sya nag bottle by then kasi sa straw cup na sya umiinom ng liquids other than breastmilk. I think 14months she refused my breast. Sa cup daw sya, well Ayaw ko magpump ng milk at ilagay sa cup no kaya stop na.

Mahirap talaga magbreastfeeding kaya importante to have a supportive family. When they ask my opinion, I tell them everything that they are complaining about is true. I experienced them, too. I always say, it's your kids you weigh in and decide which option is best for your situation.

Umiinom ako ng madaming tea weeks before my due date para ready na milk ko when baby comes Pero it took 4 days pa rin after giving birth. Akala ko Lang Wala kasi walang lumalabas when I try to pump.

^ nagbabago kaya yun sis kapag nanganak? kasi ako right now when I hand express, may lumalabas na colostrum na. Konting stimulation nga lang may lalabas na kaya todo ingat ako kasi nararamdaman ko nagcocontract uterus ko. does this mean kaya kapag nanganak ako hindi mahihirapan si baby to get the colostrum from me? or baka sa day na manganak biglang umurong milk ko, lol. may ganun ba? hehe.

I don't even know where to start reading about cloth diaper. ang alam ko lang, inserts. medyo mahal ang bamboo since more absorbent sya. pero pagaaralan ko din yan, kapag medyo gamay ko na breastfeeding.

i've read a lot narin about breastfeeding pero iba parin daw firsthand experience. yung akala mo alam mo, kapag andun na parang clueless again.

http://tickledmoms.com/blog/category/cloth-diapering/

I think if andyan na Madali nlang siguro.

Habang hindi pa kasya sa one-size, I will be using prefolds and folded flats with covers sa bahay, yung all in one para yon when we are out like namasyal or dr. Appointments. Tapos, ang fitteds and knit wool covers night time diapers. Same set up din when kasya na sa one-size, I will be using the bumgenius pocket shells as covers sa prefolds kaya madami binili ko. Yung bamboo fitteds with knit wool covers night time diapers pa rin or presko time especially sa summer. Tapos I will stuff the BG pockets with either prefolds or bamboo inserts for going out nappies. I have tried some bumgenuis freetimes and elementals Kaso hindi ko type dahil limited ang options. Kapag pockets kasi I can lay the prefolds or bamboo inserts on top or stuff them inside the pockets.

Sa daughter ko, I tried different brands. This time, I'm going with those that I liked from experience para abangan ko na Lang ang sale.

^ thanks sis. pero information overload parin haha. i'm confused. usually kasi when we use lampin, isang wiwi, palit, right? with cloth diaper ba does it function like disposable na mga 2-3 wiwi (of course depende sa insert parin) e okay lang hindi palitan? or parang lampin na kapag nabasa na, palit na?

I saw moms with their babies on CD. naisip ko hindi ba sila palit ng palit. yan lang talaga pinaka confuse ako with cloth diapers.

I change everytime nagwiwi. Pockets can hold more Lalo if you put the 2 inserts Pero we change kasi better for the skin and iwas rashes. Ganun din naman if we use disposables we change very wiwi para hindi nakababad sa chemicals underparts ni baby. I experienced the difference when I shifted to using mama pads from party liners and napkins. Wala na discomforts and dysmenorrhea when I have my periods.

Iba-iba reasons for using using cloth, ours are health, environment and cost. Madami coupons sa disposables Lalo na if bought in bulk kaya nakakamura Pero and dami namin trash sa disposables kaya we used cloth dahil lalabhan Lang naman yon sa washing machine. Hubby insisted on changing every wiwi, ako dati nasayangan. Noong newborn grabe 10-12 changes a day sa hospital. Unti-unti less changes na siguro 6mos 6-7 changes na Lang Tapos after a year 5-6 changes lang a day.

The other day, a friend was asking me kasi may rashes/blister bum ng baby Nya. They use disposables Tapos nakatulog sya kaya hindi napalitan agad. I advised her to use a barrier sa bum like coconut oil or olive oil every change para less contact ng chemicals sa skin ng baby. Pwede daw ba petroleum jelly Meron daw sya nun. I told her I don't use petroleum jelly kasi nga by-product yon after na extract ang gasolina, diesel, gaas, etc from crude oil. Ok na kahit vegetable oil sa kitchen gamitin nya, safe you kasi ginagamit nga to cook at kinakain. We don't use petroleum based lotion din for baby, makain pa Nya yon. Atleast if kainin Nya coconut oil ok lang.

I also plan to use CDs but siguro 2 weeks postpartum para medyo naka-adjust na ako sa breastfeeding but not full time. Baka kapag daytime lang muna then during night time we'll use disposables. Hopefully after another 2 weeks, we can go full time with CDs. The most basic/common CD lang ang gusto kong gamitin, yung may insert. But maybe later on i'll try other types.

Sis preggygielian, we also learn the same thing with our childbirth class regarding breastfeeding. Basta may output si baby (wiwi and poop), may input ng breastmilk. It is also normal for babies to lose weight after being born but they regain it back after 2 weeks kapag mas okay na ang supply ng breastmilk.

Let us all remember na hindi gutom lang ang nagpapaiyak kay baby. Common mistake daw iyan kaya maraming nag-gigive up sa breastfeeding. Breastmilk follows the law of supply and demand. More demand, more supply so latching of baby is still the best stimulant.

Sis adam1025, hindi rin ako binigyan ng OB ko ng prescription for malunggay supplement though hindi niya ako pinagbawalan if i want to take. Much better daw if kumain talaga ako ng malunggay. Since wala naman lasa ang malunggay, we can mix it with almost any dish kahit nga daw sa ginisang corn beef.

I plan to drink lactation tea and eat lactation cookies but according to what i read, do that after postpartum. Again latching pa rin ang best stimulant.

I hope all of us will be able to breastfeed. Determination, dedication, and with the right support system, i know kaya natin yan.

_AiaH_: good for you na may lumalabas na. actually, kahit hindi buntis, basta nastimulate, meron lalabas na milk. but the best stimulation is baby's suckling pa rin. no pump can replicate that just as much as no formula company can replicate a mother's breastmilk. paglabas ni baby, for sure, masakit kapag nagsuck sila dahil nag-aaral pa lang sila to suck efficiently. once na-establish na ng mommy ang baby ang proper latch, it should not hurt anymore and baby should be satisfied with the milk she's getting.

adam1025: there is no need to supplement as long as you are eating healthy and nutritious food. but it is still up to you if you want.

sis adam1025: i sent you a PM :) thanks

^sis sa simula yata red pa ang stretchmarks but as time passes by it becomes white.

So far at 33 weeks still no stretchmarks due to pregnancy. (Hoping na wala talaga!) I still use palmer's oil and cocoa lotion. It also helps i guess na hindi malaki ang weight gain ko so far though more than a week na akong di nakakapagcheck. Tinago nila yung weighing scale ko during my baby shower kasi nasa salas lang yun. Hindi pa ako nag-eeffort to find it. Tom siguro hanapin ko na at ng magka-idea about my current weight naman.

I plan to breastfeed naman until ma-preggy uli sa target 2nd baby. 2 years ang target naming age gap. If kaya na preggy while breastfeeding, well maybe i'll still continue. Sana talaga makayanan ko. Dami talagang benefits eh. Though hindi naman kabawasan sa pagiging mother if you will not be able to.

kayang kaya nyong lahat magbreastfeed. just put your heart into it! :) keep learning about it. information is key.

abbmg - it might be stressful at first but it gets easier along the way. breastfeeding helps avoid post partum depression and also helps release oxytocin in our body - this gives mommies happy genes. :)

regarding stretchmarks: di naman namula yung sa akin. nasa bikini area lang sya. makikita mo sya if I wear skimpy bikinis. pero kung naka-short shorts naman ako kahit super shorts pa, di na sya kita. ang gamit ko ngayon is olive oil and human heart nature sunflower beauty oil. pero hindi araw araw. tamad ako maglagay e.

Sis preggygielian thanks sa infos about breastfeeding, how I wish may video para madali sundan hahaha.

I know I can't tell what will really happen during labor and actual delivery, pero ang sabi if ever di nasunod ang birthplan don't be disappointed. Syempre ayoko naman ma-compromise ang health namin both ni baby so I need to fully trust my OB din sa kung ano ang best during labor and delivery.

God bless us sissess, especially sa mga malapit na enjoy our remaining days na preggy :)

^Tama! There will be some non-negotiables and some na kailangan talagang intindihin na baka di masusunod sa birthplan.

You'll see tons of different breasts hehe..wag kayo maturn off sa stanford video since more of NICU babies sila..important dyan yung way na pinakita paano magpump and hand express.
