Hi mommies. Would like to ask if after the operation eh naka-maternity pad kayo or ordinary pad lang? Recommended ba to use maternity pads after delivery? For CS po ha. Thanks mommies!

Hi mga mommies! Might undergo CS kasi ayaw umikot baby ko :-( I have a friend na  CS and she shared how hard it was for her to breastfeed nung nasa hospital siya kaya with a heavy heart, she requested the hospital to give her baby formula milk and may emergency can din siya sa bahay just in case na ma-CS nga siya.

Ang tanong ko...may tips ba kayo mga mommies on how to breastfeed the baby...anong position, etc? Kasi I'm really determined na magbreastfeed and I've heard and read na pagCS it is not that easy. I want to be ready.

Thank you mommies!

Advisable to use maternity pad because you will have some sort of heavy bleeding when you contract.

Nicoletta- Thanks sis!

sis preggygielian, CS din ako pero exclusively breastfeeding since day 1. St. Luke's is a breastfeeding advocate hospital, so i guess factor din yun. Kasama ko na si baby from OR to recovery room. The nurses helped me position the baby for feeding. After feeding, hinihiga nila sa tabi ko or nilalagay nila sa bassinet na me light para ma-warm si baby.

Nung nasa own room na, pwede na mag-recline and when I needed to breastfeed, me unan lang under my arm for support, tinutulungan ako ni hubby na ma-posisyon kami ni baby. Actually, madami ako unan to support my back&head din.

It was uncomfortable the first few days kasi lumalakas contractions ng uterus while breastfeeding. And me konting kirot sa hiwa. But since my OB already told me what to expect, di na ako masyado natakot. Kalaban ko lang talaga nun was exhaustion. Kasi every 2-3hrs dapat magpalatch, then every 2hrs pa ang bp monitoring ko nung first 24hours kasi I had pre-eclampsia during labor. So zombie-mode talaga ako nun..

It is a challenge to exclusively breastfeed lalo pag CS, but kaya naman. Dagdag tyaga and patience. And mind-setting helps din. :)

Re pads, i wore adult diapers ng first day. 2nd day, nung nakakatayo na ako, I switched to maternity pads until makauwi ng bahay on our 3rd day. 5th day, I switched to regular pads na.

CS ako and breastfed si baby eversince. nung morning after my cs (midnight lumabad si baby) kailangan paarawan ang baby, and my hubby brought our baby to the waiting area for indirect sunlight exposure. from there to my room i could hear our baby crying, so wala ako choice i slowly walked my way there to check on them (i walked slow and hunched like a lola). the staff there said that trying to be mobile (pero wag sagarin ang katawan naman) early on will help you recover faster. dont baby the pain too much. i was on painkillers din so it helped. yung contraction pain while breastfeeding took a back seat kasi masakit magfeed at first, nagaadjust pa siguro the nipples sa feeding ni baby ( my kid latches like a shark grabe). the nurses and the lactation consultant will help you find your most comfy way of feeding and help you with pain management. iniisip ko lang nun was i should disregard all the pain kasi the baby needs my milk. yun ang mantra to get through all the pain. hope this helps. :)

Thank you mga sis for sharing! Haha kahapon lang ata talaga nag sink in ang napakalaking possibility na ma-CS ako and I need to know from other moms how they handled it. Tama ka sis Eccabanana, important yang may ganyang way of thinking na kahit ang sakit, kailangan ni baby eh -- and it will help fight the pain too.

Salamat sis bagaholic_chewy for sharing your detailed experience, try ko din gawin yan tungkol sa mga pillows and recline! :)

:P Pero yes super helpful niya. :) Dami ko natututunan everyday.

Thanks sis hun_nie08, will definitely read more about that football hold at yan ang madalas na sagot din saakin. Galing mo sis! :) premie pa pala ang baby mo, mas challenging pa daw lalo yun. So happy for you sis ang laking achievement nun! :)

@preggygielian Ako rin sis CS pero EBF si baby since Day 1 until he turned 3 1/2 year old. I never knew that having a CS would affect my breastfeeding. I didn't know kasi na may mga breastfeeding groups, or may forums na ganito 4 years ago when I gave birth (mang mang lang ang peg) hehe

I think it helped me na walang pre-conceived notion about it na magiging mas mahirap pag CS ka, and like what bagaholic_chewy said it helped na pro breastfeeding ang St. Luke's. After malinis ni baby sa delivery, unang yakap agad, tapos latch kami for 5minutes and then kasama siya sa recovery room, and then sa room na mismo. Pero parang naka recline na ako nun but not super pero alam ko hindi ako higang higa nun kasi may pictures ako with friends na parang naka recline na yung higaan ko. Side Lying lang kami nung gabi after I delivered, the next morning naglakad na ako tapos dun sa sa upuan nagpabreastfeed. I honestly don't remember it being that painful, lucky me I guess. Sana ganun pa rin this pregnancy hehe

God Bless on your delivery sis!  :)

^That is very true sis! :) My mother in law, mom and sister kasi they're all NSD tapos kaboom biglang ako [malaking possibility na] CS dahil sa position ni baby. Absolutely clueless!

:D Sana hindi ka ulit mahirapan this time around. :) Salamat ulit!

^ isipin natin sis pain is temporary, hehe. pero walang kapantay ang reward kapag na ebf natin si baby from day 1. saka wag tayo papayag sis kung issuggest na formula agad. i'm not sure if breastfeeding advocate hosp ang hospital where i'll give birth pero i've instructed my OB na i want to breastfeed agad. kapag well baby naman daw, no problem. nagpapa latch sila agad kahit sa recovery room. :) may mga referrals din na breastfeeding advocate pedia kaso ayaw ko naman palitan ka-tandem ni OB hehe. they work together as a unit na eversince so i guess i'll leave it to that nalang. pwede naman ako lipat ng pedia anytime if hindi bf advocate masyado si pedia.

preggygielian sis it might also help if you buy a binder. di ko alam sa iba pero for me mas madaling gumalaw pag suot ko yun. two months post op na ko but i use a binder and girdle. nakakatulong din daw yun pumayat. hehe :)

^Sis nagtrek ako sa Mt. Pinatubo many years ago, akyat kami for 3 hours then 2.5 hours pababa all in the same day - grabe ang pagod ko nun! Feeling ko di ko na mafeel legs ko pagkauwi ng bahay...I don't know kung sanay ka mag mountain climbing pero if not, parang ang hirap...

^yes sis umaakyat na talaga ako ng bundok before pa ako mapreggy kaso i stop when i found out na preggy na ako. siguro naman if alalay lang ang lakad kaya naman di ba? what bothers me is the rough road, hindi ba masyadong matagtag pag 4x4 ride?
