memories of my melancholy whores - in a scale of 10, i'll say 8. Who among you here have read Lullabies by lang leav? Nakita ko kasi yong book sa National kahapon and I was drawn by it's book cover, yun kasi una ko napapansin. I read the back cover and ang ganda sobra kaya lang wala sa budget ko na yong book kaya hindi ko nabili.

Exceptional story telling. A beautiful fantasy romance novel by my favorite author.

this book made me remember how i love fantasy/magic/wizard kind of stories. and it's the first love story i had read after my breakup (lol). it's relatively light and the interaction between the female protagonist and her man-to-be are so kakilig kilig. bet ko yung ganitong attitude ng male hero haha, parang hard to get/suplado/aloof types. i hope the author will make it into a series. it is also well written.

underneath all the sex and crude language it was a very good story!!! i cried few times especially yung moving on parts ni tohrment omg. if JR ward would write a story na di masyadong erotica and mej leaning on the formal side she can win everyone! haaay i'm glad for tohr. i especially liked na the story didnt' happen in a span of a month, a year had passed and a lot of struggles (na very believable) ang nangyari before tohrment was able to move on from his shellan. i'd recommend this to everyone whose significant other passed a way a bit too soon. this and z's stories are really good. this book is very dear to my heart.

Girl Against the Universe by Paula Stokes -  1/2

I just love how relatable Maguire is and how realistic this book is when it comes to tackling mental illness. I definitely ship Maguire and Jordy together, so cute! The only thing I'm kinda disappointed with this one is the cliché plot but I still enjoy reading this book.

Red Rising by Pierce Brown -

Fast-paced and pretty violent. Reminiscent of The Hunger Games but very different as well. Unpredictable, lots of 'wtf' moments for me.

Kulti by mariana zapata - 

all i can say is i was literally exclaiming/squeaking every 5-10mins how cute sal and kulti are! omgggg. it's a good kind of cute di yung mushy/corny cute of other love teams i've read before. bet na bet ko talaga ata mga slow building romance. this book is sooo well written and it is long but (as stated sa thousands of reviews sa goodreads) i never got bored or felt that the story is dragging. i laughed a lot as well. hooow i wish to have a kulti in my life. The heroine (sal) is relatable and believable and very much likeable. she has a strong personality, a kick ass attitude and a big heart mixed so perfectly in correct proportions. di siya tulad nung ibang heroines with strong personality na nakakairita, na gusto mo nang sabunutan. she is also not a weakling. mabait siya (in a believable way) unlike others na sobrang di kapanipaniwala ang santo level. after reading a few great books latelyi just cant stomach (and i dont want to deal with) the shitty heroines with temper and attitude problems and limp damsels in distress. 

i'm now excited to read other mariana zapata's

Classic fairytale with a great lesson to learn and a happy ending. Maganda rin yung development and improvement/growth of the protagonist.

this is my all time fave talaga, 2x ko na sya nabasa.. still same reaction pa rin after reading Kulti, there's this smile on my face that I can't shake off.. I wanted to be Sal so bad.. I want my own Kulti too hahaha

Parang I'm stalking you sis but as I've mentioned in the other topic, I LOOOOOOOVE Winnipeg and Me.  I loved it more than Kulti pero I loved Kulti din naman    I'm actually reading it (The Wall) again for the nth time na hahaha

On topic - The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins 
I'm not much of a reader ng mga suspense/mystery books but I loved this.  I read this after watching the trailer of the movie adaptation and I found it interesting kaya I decided to read the book.  Hopefully the movie will not disappoint.  I still have not watched Gone Girl because I loved the book and ayoko ma-frustrate or ma-disppoint hehe

bang, echo, and hush (books 1-3 of the black lotus series by e.k. blair) - 

the series started out really well. book 1 (bang) was dark and disturbing, yet fast-paced and gripping. it was easy to get hooked. book 3 was such a disappointment. the epilogue just ruined the whole series for me.

another great novel of mariana zapata. i looked up and there were like only 5 books na nasulat niya. mej nalulungkot ako now i only have 3 more left to go. but i'd rather go for few and slow releases but well well written and very engaging stories compared dun sa iba. i think it's better if she'll stick to stand alones or at most a trilogy kesa yung mga sobrang hahaba na series. it gets more exciting that way! haha.

I also read her other books na l, Lingus and Rhythm, Chord, and Malyhkin, and Mariana Zapata never failed to deliver a good book. What I love about her books is that the romance is not insta-love kaya nakakahook. And she also gives character to the other people in the book.

^ yup sis! all her books are good so far. and i love love na her heroines are strong and funny and have a good head. no no no to damsels in distress talaga ako.

addendum:
1. rita haysworth and shawshank redemption -  now i'm curious about the movie. mapanood nga.

2. archer's voice by mia sheridan - 
i made it to 50 pages, giving the book a chance but it's just not for me. for me, the way it was written is amateur. i want a book the gives good description of the setting and the characters. most books would give more than a damn sentence to describe a character especially if unang encounter palang. eto nada. i think the story is kinda interesting/heartbreaking from goodreads review but i just cant get pass the way it was written. feeling ko magiging b0b0 ako if i let myself read the whole book.  i decided i'm so done with it when the author used the word "alone-ness".

3. the deal by elle kennedy - 
i didn't finish it, so "cliche" na ng mga 70% and less story more sex scenes na. i would've gone on if mej unique or intriguing yung story but i can pretty much predict what the rest of the story would be so yeah.

Golden Son by Pierce Brown

That ending though. For fans of dystopian or sci-fi, I suggest you read Red Rising and Golden Son. Sobrang action packed and ang galing ng pagkakasulat ng mundo nila. Gave this one a four though kasi mas parang hindi ko maibaba si Red Rising compared to this one. But both worth the time. Will be reading the third and final book next, Morning Star.
