^ Hi sis, at first mahirap sya kasi mainit. It feels as if you're in a pre heated oven (slight), plus you need to perform each pose as correctly as your body would allow you while trying to balance your breathing. This varies between each individual kasi hindi lahat ng tao has the same flexibility, strength, and endurance. There are some poses wherein your right side can do so with ease, but left side is tight. They won't force you naman, but what they want to see is that you are trying to do it correctly. If you feel as if the pose is too much they will show a beginner's pose which you can start on. Or you can lie down in a childs pose. What the instructors do want is for you to stay inside the studio for the whole 1 hour and a half to get acclimated to the heat. You need to be well hydrated pala before you enter the room. Make sure you have drank about 8 glasses of water before your session. Kasi you will be perspiring buckets. So para kang nagdedetox :). They wouldn't want you to be dehydrated. Bring a towel (either a yoga mat towel or a bath towel) you can put on top of your mat so you won't slip.

As for just attending 2 classes, i'd suggest go for a whole month or more sis. Like 2x week or once a week for a few months.  Bikram is an hour and a half kasi composed of 26 sequential  asanas or poses. And yoga in general, you wouldn't be able to learn the proper posture in 2 sessions. Sometimes we think we are doing the pose but we are just using our accessory muscles, resulting in injury.  Do try the practice sis, hope you'd love it as I do. Pasesnya na napahaba, just passionate about it :) Namaste sis

Pag first time sa Bikram, you may feel light headed because of the heat. Pero the instructor will tell you naman to take a break from the sequence anytime you feel uncomfortable. Ang sarap ng feeling after, but be sure to drink lots of water after the session :)

May question lang ako :) I'm not based in the Philippines so Im wondering lang kung paano yung payment methods sa yoga studios sa Manila? Is it per session? Curious lang ako, dito kasi monthly payment tapos either you sign up for the unlimited sessions or 8 sessions a month :)

I did Bikram yoga before, meron silang 3 sessions good for one week, per session payment and meron din na unlimited monthly. Pero after the session, you will feel lighter talaga.

Yoga studios typically charge per session which they call as drop-in rates. It ranges from 500-700 depending on the studio. Class cards are also offered for those who can only opt to attend for a certain number of sessions on a given time frame. For example, 5-class card good for one month or 10-class card for 2 mos. and so on.

 Also, they have the monthly unlimited packages, 3 and 6-month unlimited packages. Annual packages meron din and they do have  corporate rates as well for group attendees.

Based from a recent chitchat with an instructor, there is a studio in don Antonio commonwealth ave that holds prenatal yoga classes. I wasn't able to gather much details like the name of the studio. On my next bikram class, il collect the details for you :) Beyond yoga held prenatal yoga special classes before so check with them if they're cooking up another for the year. It isn't part of the roster of regular classes if I'm not mistaken.

@snowkeis: if I may answer for sushisundance, bikram doesn't even include chaturanga, downward dog and other asanas normally part of a vinyasa sequence. It has a lot of forward and backward bending poses though. One is to hold the pose for abt 20-60sec depending on the asanas. Since the room is heated to high fever levels, the pose is geared mainly on stretching key muscles and reinforcing stability. For the most part of the bikram sequence, the instructor put more emphasis on locking the knee in in order to gain strength and stability. Not like with the other yoga poses which are commonly hinged on activating the CGTs (core, glutes and thigh).

@OD
Wow 500-700 per class is quite pricey.

@snowkeis
From my experience of doing Bikram, it is usually a sequence of 26 poses, same sequence as Hatha but you're in a heated room. I agree with sis OD, since the body is more open/flexible because of the heat, there are more forward and backward bending. May mga balancing poses din sa start ng sequence :) Hope you'll enjoy your class! Dont forget to bring water! And rest when you feel tired- either in a sitting down position or child pose :)

I attend bikram on an on and off basis but I'm eyeing to pursue the 30-day challenge. My reservation is that I might find the session uninteresting eventually that ill fall out of the challenge easily. Imagine doing the same sequence of poses over and over again for 30 days. I've tried attending classes from different instructors. Pili Lang yun ok para sa akin.

If you appreciate yoga a lot,  I highly suggest you try bikram. Don't worry abt the heat as you will be guided and advised accordingly by the instructors. Adaptability is an innate human characteristic so surely your body Shld be able to tolerate the high temp. The instructor primes beginners on what to do when the heat becomes seemingly too overwhelming.
Catch either the morning or evening class so that it will not be as hot bec weather is more temperate
