^my thoughts too! Actually i was quite surprised when i first found out that we have to provide crew meals or allowances in the wedding industry when all other kinds of industries do not expect that. I mean, i dont go to the office and expect or demand that i be fed by my employer di ba? Its just weird how this practice started. And super demanding pa nung iba, anlabo lang. Just saying ;P

Haha!! Actually sis, It pretty much is a requirement to feed the "suppliers" as they are called in the wedding industry. It's a common courtesy. Besides you wouldn't want them to leave and have a break during your event.

The crew meals requirements started from their bad experiences from inconsiderate clients. Actually, pretty much most of the items in the contract stemmed from it.
Meron yung isa lang yung bigay tapos snack lang eh almost 1 day wedding.
Meron sira yung food etc etc

Kung sa ibang industries, hindi kasama but they get an hour and minutes off naman. It's not a practice for wedding suppliers to leave. Unless ok lang sa couple to have a long timeline and do nothing while their suppliers are on break? Kamusta naman reception nun.

While I'm also surprised on some demands, I recognize something happened for them to have those.

In our case, wala naman ganyan. We're already providing food for the families during hotel preps so might as well add the suppliers. Plan A for dinner is have them get from the buffet if guest turnout is low. Plan B is order out.
HMUA, P/V, and coordinator lang included sa amin.

Anyway, welcome to the wedding preps.. Where everything just becomes more expensive💲

Am actually done with our wedding and while I'd like to think that I fed our suppliers well (provided the same packed lunches i gave to my family, gave out snacks and drinks, and during dinner they were even part of my buffet), i still dont think its the responsibility of the couple to provide meals for them. I don't think its a matter of breaktime kasi lahat din naman sila nakakakain. Yes they cant go out  of the venue to buy, so thats why we get crew meals in the venue, but i still think that the couple should not be the one paying for those meals. The payment for their services should already cover the meals. Anyhow, I know I cant do anything about that anymore as it is the "standard" already but my point is it should not be the standard. Just my two cents

we're already spending hundreds of thousands for our wedding, parang maliit na bagay na yung couple of hundred pesos to keep our suppliers happy and satisfied. di ba? they are the key to making our event successful so i think we owe them more than just paying for their talent fee.

remember, they may choose not to perform well if they are not fed well. :p

i also agree with you sisses here. actually nung nagbubudget ako for our wedding, i didn't consider these crew meals. not that i don't want my crews to eat pero kasi diba tayo2x naman kumakain ng sari-sarili natin .. my subconscious told me nalang na no these aren't part of the expenses. previous work ko nagfifield work ako sa clients, but i never asked the client to feed me, except na lang kung nanlilibre talaga si client.
bakit kaya hindi nalang dagdagan ng suppliers yung prices nila for their meals? then come the wedding day, the coordinator will just buy nalang outside for the food? or if there's no coordinator (sana meron naman), edi sila2x bumili. bahala na si client magsuffer kung di sya nakunan ng PV or naasikaso masyado, eh hindi sya nagcoordinator eh...

I think supplier meals are an interesting topic because the standard appears to vary a lot depending on location. The Philippines seems similar to the US, where vendors also expect the couple to provide food, but I'm having an overseas destination wedding in Southeast Asia and all my suppliers are feeding themselves. The only people I have to feed are my photographer and videographer, but that makes sense to me since they're the least likely to have time for breaks (plus I'm flying them in, so that's the standard they're used to).

I agree that the suppliers and their crew need to be fed well. But Sometimes kasi, there are many rules in a certain venue and sometimes super mahal the crew meals provided by the venue!!  I just wish venues would not take advantage of this and offer affordable crew meals.

Also, there are some stylists that have 15 pax for setup and state that I need to provide the meals. This is where I think it's too much na naman. 1st of all, some setups only take around 4hours. Is it too much for the stylists to feed their own crew? Dapat naman siguro stylist na bahala doon since 200k up lahat ng quotation nila!! I think that is more than enough for them to take care of their crew's food So I think that should be the responsibility of the stylist na.

Otherwise I understand naman why the photo, video, coordinator, and musicians need to be fed right there and then.

How about yung L&S crew, photobooth and mobile bar (if you're availing those)? Buti na lang yung staff ng caterer di na kailangan idagdag sa suppliers' food budget. Lol

For me suppliers really need to be fed well kasi naman super pagod yan and gutom, mamaya maaffect nadin ang output. Huwag lang magdemand ng outrageous amount

Hi Sisters! Medyo na-lost ako dito sa Girltalk ang dami ko na pa lang hindi nabasa! It is necessary to feed your Suppliers talaga para maging ok ang performance nila sa wedding. Our wedding preparation meals cost us P8200 good for I think 40 pax din ang nakakain kasi pati yung guests ko na dumating ng maaga kumain din during the preparations. Ang dami-dami pang natira. Dahil nagbigay din ng free cake and steamed rice yung supplier ko ng food. Masayang-masaya naman sila sa food dahil sobrang dami talaga.

Anyway, for the Buffet meals yung suppliers na madaming gagawin dapat talaga buffet sila but for those na konti lang gagawin pwede na packed meals(e.g. Photobooth).

For our wedding, we ordered Amber's Rice Most Love Combination packed meal for suppliers and for our family din. The packed meal consists of pork bbq, lumpiang shanghai, chicken lollipop, rice and pichi-pichi. It costs 98.50 plus 12 pesos for bottled water. The packaging is nice and Amber's food is really good naman talaga. Then I ordered extra bilao of spaghetti and pancit malabon. We called them a day before and they required 50% deposit.

Natawa naman ako dun sa comment na counting the caterers for crew meals! O at least nga the caterers have the sense to already include the cost of feeding their people I paid for a total of 118 meals just for the suppliers for my wedding (around half of which went to my wedding stylist's crew who numbered 17 and required 3 meals). So even if those  meals cost (at least) a couple hundred of pesos per person, those add up. And yes, we are spending hundreds of thousands of pesos for our wedding so whats paying a little bit more? For me its still a lot kasi ang iniisip ko naman, on the flip side, I am also PAYING the suppliers thousands (and even hundreds of thousands) of pesos so ano ba naman kung dun na nila kunin yung pangkain nung tauhan nila di ba? Anyway, I ended up paying for all these naman not because I was threatened by the suppliers' poor performance if they were not fed well, but because it is the standard (which I still think is wrong hahaha ). Anyway, just sharing my thoughts and experiences happy preps everyone!

Agree with you sis galatea_spheres! actually yan naman ata sentiments nating lahat... na bakit hindi pa nila isama crew meals sa binayaran sa kanila.. 

anyway mga sis, for bottled water, suggest ko lang, mas makakatipid kayo i think sa mga bottling/refilling stations like agua vida, etc.. then pabox nyo sya . yung 15 pesos sa labas na size, P8 lang dun. so kung need nyo 100 pcs of bottled water (para sa snacks/lunch of your crews and visitors), P800 lang instead of P1,500. pwera nalang kung may crew / visitor na gusto pa ay wilkins..haha
