When husband and i talked about getting married. The father in law suggested a civil wedding so that we can eat on his favorite resto.. so basically we are just getting married civilly because of that freakin resto.

i did not have the typical debut so I wanted a beautiful wedding.
When we told the in laws our plans that we will be having it in a nice church in manila...
The DAD told the mom that he will never give us cash because he wants a civil wedding and he doesnt have cash.. then never spoke to us na.. my mom naman willingly gave us 200k for the major suppliers. kami na bahala sa payment along the preps. going back to the.dad in law minaktolan na nya lahat and went shopping spree, bought appliances and furnitures and exercise machines, expensive cameras nagallout ng pera nya sa unnecessary things!

when I learned about it napikon ako may pera pala kayo tapos ganyan..i told my husband .. look, 200k is not enough we need your help... nakakahiya sa mom ko na ganyan kayo... so the husband asked money from the mom nalang. they gave us 25k. then after that ang sungit sungit na saakin.... i asked for the number of guests that they will invite i told them if they are going to bring yaya pls count them too. so if ever we exceed, we will remove some friends on the guestlist. and then she texted me... hindi ba bayad ko na yung isang mesa ng imbitado namin? i said yes tita but we just need the number and names if ever.
ayun galit na galit na pala saakin dahil doon..
so im like kapal nyo ha!? sobrang kapal nyo grabe! i kinda waited that the dad in law would give us surpri se money gift after the wedding.. but nope he didnt. kapal nya.. kaya galit ako sa kakapalan nila... more stories to come with this family.

anyway we had a very beautiful wedding... just under 250k ... My mom and i's share was 95%....

Talking about debut and wedding. My mom's thinking - she said she spent na daw for my (and my sister's) debut kaya nung kinasal ako wala na siyang cash gift but kapag kinasal daw brothers ko bibigyan nya ng cash gift. My mom was a huge help though dahil siya ang punong-abala nung wedding ko dahil overseas ako. :) that's what i needed and at least wala na akong gastos ng full coordinator si mama na. :) Destination wedding ako ang mahal pa naman ng coordinator doon. :)

Sis Medyosuplada, nakakaloka yang story mo ha. I hope nakabukod kayo and malayo sa kanila. Hihi :p

Kami 50/50 ni hubby. My parents took care of our rehearsal dinner expenses though. :)

Hay. Hirap ng merging families. Maraming makakarelate dito sa shares ng wedding expenses. Minsan nga pabida naman tong side na ito, tapos last minute, ang supposed to be sponsored nia, wala na. Chaaar. 😭 moral lesson, dapat meron talagang pondo. With or withour their help. Or else, start pa lang ng married life mo, baon ka na sa utang. 😱

I've heard so much stories na may mag "sponsor" daw pero waley.

medyosuplada, although I think your in laws are off, I'm seeing the other side na kaya sila ganyan kasi you asked from them. Even if they can still afford it, it's still a lot of money and they don't see much benefit for them especially since you want to follow your dream.
Yung mga binili nila na unnecessary things for you, they can use those for a long time compared to your one-day wedding na hindi naman nila gusto. Mean? Yes, but this is the explanation I can think of why they acted that way.

In this case, money is power. If there's a sponsor and they demand for some details in the wedding, talagang magkakaproblema kung hindi sila masusunod. Hindi biro ang magbigay ng pera lalo na kung libo libo yun.

That's why I agree na dapat talaga may own funds for the wedding. Kung may help, yehey! Kung wala, oh well.

It's really so sad na magkaron ng difference because of money :-[

This is the reason why we never asked anything from our parents, para less din demands and headaches. Iba din yung feeling na pinaghirapan at pinagipunan naming dalawa yung wedding. It means we can already manage on our own, emotionally and financially. We will only spend for what can afford. Mas important pa din yung life after the wedding day.

Kaya kung may ibibigay thank you and pangstart na lang namin as a new family. :)

Sis medyosuplada I find it weird na walang macontribute yung hubby mo? Shouldnt he be the one providing for your wedding and not his parents? Maybe there are other reasons like law/med school or something. Just my opinion sorry kung medyo off ang question.

May mga family members kami and friends na willing to sponsor like photobooth, invitation, flowers, yet sabi ni h2b, wag daw kami expect and isama pa rin namin sa budget kasi baka pag dating na day na yun, wala pala.

sis medyosuplada, just curious why walang share ang hubby mo?

anyway, we never asked for money sa parents namin lalo na ako since breadwinner ako and my fiance never asked din sa parents nya though nag-volunteer yung Dad nya na sagutin yung ibang expenses. We wanted to be good example din sa mga younger generation na when you plan to get married, dapat emotionally, physically and financially kaya nyo. Not necessarily na bonggang wedding but maayos na kasal.

50-50 - we made sure to save X amount every payday since we are both working. my parents helped out with paying for the reception venue. and my future sister in law paid for the church. the rest we will pay for na.

before my fiance proposed, he asked his friends and other people from his circle about how much should be spent on a wedding. then he diligently saved his earnings for two years. so after the proposal, we planned our wedding to be within the amount of money that he saved. we agreed that i will spend my money only in case his money will not be enough. basically, my fiance will be paying for everything. but i told him that i will pay for the things that i want especially for girly items like tokens for the female secondary sponsors and bridesmaids, some DIY stuff for the display table, entourage makeup and breakfast for preps and bridal accessries like my head wreath and shoes.

about two weeks after his proposal, his family went to our house for the pamamanhikan.  we were not going to ask for money from our parents but FMIL told us that she will pay for the catering and my mom also gave me a big amount to help us. by the way, both of us do not have dads anymore. so we only have FMIL and my mom.

several months into the wedding planning, when i told my mom that we will be doing away with the photobooth since it is not really an essential item for our wedding, she volunteered to pay because she wants to have the photo booth also for the guests. and she also gave me an X amount for the lechon because she thinks lechon is a must-have for celebrations. by the way, i am an only child so i guess my mom wants me to have everything that i want for the wedding. fiance and I are grateful to have loving parents like them, who are helping us with the wedding expenses.

i think the ratio is like this:

H2b and FMIL - 85%
Me and my mom - around 15%

also, one of my cousins is paying for our souvenirs.:)

^ kelan wedding mo sis? ;D

naku sis medyosuplada, mahirap yan. does your husband have his own money to contribute? kasi kung sa parents lang mahirap talaga.. and sana in the future bumukod kayo from your byenans. mahirap yung complications na ganyan.

may cases naman kasi na yung finances talaga eh galing sa family, lalo na kung nagmamanage ng family business (like my h2b), kaya yung pera na ginagamit namin for the wedding eh from that. ako rin, sort of like that, may business kami na share2x kami here sa bahay ng mom ko (though i had the chance to work in the corporate world), nakikishare naman kami kahit pano sa expenses. so far wala kaming complications with our byenans, pati sila wala samen. pero alam ko mostly talaga merong komplikasyon

50-50 though promise ni h2b na magdagdag siya at sosobrahan niya ang icocontribute. Ngayon pa lang kami nag save for our wedding kasi parehas kaming ayaw galawin ang personsal funds/savings namin. :) My parents told me they will not help at all  dahil lalaki daw nagshoulder niyan which hindi ako sumasang ayon.. so kiber na lang dahil ayaw din namin humingi sa kanila.. Fiance's parents on the other hand are very kind. as in. :)

ours is 50-50 :-) ever since the start of our relationship, i have pushed for equal sharing of expenses, i feel that it has helped develop the sense of partnership between the two of us.
i'm not asking for any contributions from my family at all because when i was younger i had aunts and uncles whose weddings were financed by the family and i don't thinj they had much say in their weddings. it was the family that dictated what would happen even as to who the entourage would be because of that.
but my parents are going to get lechon for me because they say it's not a celebration without lechon! haha! my fiance and i didn't plan for lechon because he doesn't eat pork at all so the lechon will be the only pork/red meat dish in our menu (he said he just won't look at the lechon during the reception; he agreed to have it out of respect for my parents) ^_^

Oh is that it? Kaya pala the caterer and venue suppliers have stipulation on lechon. No family or guest ever asked us din naman hehe.
