How much is your Wedding share
« on: October 08, 2014, 05:17:03 pm »
Hi mga sis,

Just curious of how much or percentage  or share in you wedding budget?

Mine kasi is 30% yet sa total budget namin wala pa yung wedding ring, groom's attire and honeymoon.

How much ba usually ang share ng bride?

The wedding rings & groom's attire are critical expenses.  If you add that to your current sub-total, your share will be?

50-50 kami ni fiance. may definite amount ng "hulog" talaga kami sa wedding savings namin every salary since we are both employees. pero marami kasi nagregalo ng major items eh like yung venue namin sponsored by one of our ninongs na uncle nya. di na uso ngayon yung lalake lang halos sumasagot gastos sa kasal. afterall, pareho naman kayo sheshare din sa gastos pag magasawa na. i guess magvavary din ito kung halimbawa super laki naman ng gap ng income nyo.  :)

We're 50-50 with expenses.. but since I have plenty of add ons, sometimes I end up using some of my savings for paying reservations.

My wedding: my mom & Lola gave my wedding & reception gowns (parang masunod gusto ko, and no bad feelings from groom/his side as to the cost. Atchaka como  kami paying -- the designer did not abuse us with the price since long-time clients kami.).    Hubby (& his family) spent for almost everything. But when my side added to the guest list -- my parents insisted on paying for the additional reception expenses even if  hubby and family were willing to cover the additional expenses since they also added to the guest list.

IMO, it is more meaningful if the bride and groom BOTH spend for the wedding. (So the parents & godparents & groupings of close friends can focus on big ticket gift items.)
If the bride is aware of the budgeting for different expenses, & contributes, she will moderate her kaartehan (or greed, hahaha).
Also, I noticed, the bride's family moderates it's demands when the couple, not the groom's side -  underwrites the wedding expenses.   I'll will is very much minimized.
Atchaka,  IMO, mas okay if the couple pays, quesa the family of either groom or bride -- para hindi nakikialam ang mga mothers.  Pag yung mothers ang nag tapatan sa gusto nila:  disaster.

I have female cousins who have contributed more than their fiancĂ©  to their weddings.  It is because after they have agreed with their fiancĂ© as to the common/shared costs & their respective contributions -- along the way, my cousin may opt  to upgrade or add certain items.  It is but fair, in our opinion, that whoever wants the upgrade/ addition --- or adds to the guest list, should pay for the increased costs.
The guideline, per my Lola is:  do not start married life with disagreements over money.

^ good advice from your lola sis.

Maganda din na alam ng both families na you are sharing for the expenses db?
Iba rin feeling na ang girl may share sa cost ng wedding specially we are the one who's doing the planning, choosing our suppliers

Ako ang share ko is yung mga pang girl stuffs like gowns tsaka yung magagastos sa prenup shoot..
Mostly si h2b na ang gagastos, but we agreed na hindi kami hihingi sa parents namin-- or sempre liban na lang kung kusa silang magbigay, alangan namang tanggihan namin...
This is our arrangement para kami ang may say kung sino lang iinvite namin at kung ano yung magaganap sa wedding namin...

I've encountered a mother of the groom na nagsabi na parents lahat ang gagastos (I think si mother of the groom yung sho-shoulder mostly). Sa ibang mga pamilya, ang tradisyon eh parents ang may sagot lalo kapag well-off sila.. I've encountered invitations din na ang nagiinvite talaga sa kasal as host ay parents naman ni bride. Parang Mr and Mrs Ganito is inviting you to the wedding of their daughter, <insert name here> to <insert name here>. Ganyang tipo. Just sharing. :)

^yes.   In the Phils., it  is not rare for well-off families of either the groom, or both bride & groom to shoulder the wedding expenses, and more.
A male grad school classmate of mine married someone from a very wealthy family -- the bride's parents shouldered almost all expenses --  not common occurrence.
In all 3 cases:  both sets of parents, regardless of  % contribution. -- together    "invite in the invitation" to the wedding of their children.

When the bride and groom spend, or both spend with help from their parents:  they "invite in the invitation" & state:  "with the blessings of our parents... So and so.."

In the US, where the custom is the bride and family underwrite almost all wedding expenses... Usually, the bride's parents pay for it, they "invite in the invitation" to their daughter's marriage  to  xxx.
