Christian and Catholic Wedding
« on: October 07, 2014, 03:52:54 pm »
Hello. Me and my fiance are getting married next year but there's one main issue. I am a born again christian and she is a catholic. We decided to have it on the same day, catholic then christian then reception. Would it be a good idea to have it same day or shall i schedule a different date? Anyone here who experienced the same issue?

Thanks in advance!

Hi jnatividad. your situation is a bit complicated. so neither of you walang gusto magpa convert sa religion ng isa? or better yet, walang gusto ikasal kun ano yung religion ng isa? i haven't encountered a wedding with two different ceremonies e.. but i do know a couple where the girl naman is born again and guy is catholic, they had a garden wedding, officiant nila is pastor so they had a christian wedding sa madaling salita but until now catholic padin ang guy. hindi nagpa convert kahit nag christian wedding sila.

This would be fine IF you have food, activities, etc. to keep guests from the first ceremony busy.

Separate dates kasi would be too exhausting, unless the date difference is far, not to mention expensive.

Nakaka-aliw though kasi I'm guessing this is to respect the religions of both families. Normally kasi, bride's family nasusunod.

factors to consider here:

- same guests lang ba for the Catholic and Christian wedding?
- how about the timeline? Ang Catholic church may specific na oras sa simbahan. How about dun sa Christian wedding? Baka mag-overlap. At isa pa, think of your guests, mapapagod sila kung same set of guests lang kayo tapos magkasunod na wedding ceremony yun.
- also, pros and cons din kayo baka may ibang guests na hindi attend sa isang ceremony kase nga dun sa religion magkaiba. Kung magkaibang guests sa isang wedding ceremony, find a place na pwede sila maghintay while waiting na matapos yung isang ceremony. Baka sa sobrang tagal matapos nung isang ceremony eh hindi na sila maka-attend sa reception which is nakakahiya naman dahil inimbitahan nyo sila tapos pinaghintay ng matagal.
- expensive naman kung separate date mo ilalagay unless of course na budgeted nyo na and money is not an issue.

oh, my boss had that kind of wedding in just one day. I don't know how they did it though. pero ang alam ko medyo mahaba haba natapos yung wedding day..

medyo complicated yung ganyan. you both have to talk about it. :)

Hello jnatividad!
Sounds complicated... :(

Why not you and your fiance talk about your faith first?
Why he followed that belief and why you follow yours...Just keep in mind that you need to follow God not the traditions and all should be biblical.
Anyway, it's not about the religion, it's about your personal relationship with Jesus.

The wedding ceremony is the most important part of the event since that's the real purpose why you are getting married; to bind the couple as one by God.

I suggest you settle it first. share the gospel to him (you know what I mean... ;)  I'm also a Christian)
2 Corinthians 6:14-15

Just my opinion. :)

Hi there. My fiance's friend had 2 weddings in one day. Yung una is Christian wedding - 6am sa sonya's garden then next was at careluega (8 am Catholic) then balik sila sonya's for the reception. Yung Catholic and reception lang napuntahan namin kasi super aga talaga. Guests lang naman kami pero the night before we found out na kasama sa church (magbabasa) si fiance. We got on time pa rin naman pero it was our first time sa careluega kaya super nahirapan kami. Still nice though. Naisipan namin din na gayahin (Casa San Pablo, Laguna) pero napakalayo naman so we scratched it off. At the moment we want a Christian wedding na. Pero if money allows why not both? In my opinion respect na yun sa parents ng couple kung money is not a problem. Kasi with Casa, the church beside it (walking distance lang talaga) is an additional of 15k rin.

my fiance is a christian while i am a catholic but its a good thing he don't mind us getting married in church.  same goes with his family.  beside, he said, they were initially catholics.

Hi this will be our set up and i think it is doable. Church wedding is at 130 pm,  Christian ceremony at about 4 pm at a garden where the reception will follow thereafter.

As with the guests, just give the invitation to the guests and let them decide if they want to go to the church wedding. Those very close to the couple may not mind attending the church wedding.

For mixed marriages, sa Catholic side, you can get married in a Christian ceremony (a priest will be present) as long as you have the dispensation from the Church. Best to ask your parish about how to get one. It would also be good to ask a Christian pastor if they have special conditions for mixed marriages.

Same thing for a Catholic ceremony if one of the couple is not converting. In this case, a Christian pastor will be present, but you still need to get a dispensation from the Church.

In both cases, you may have only one ceremony as long as you already have the dispensation. But if you still wish to have two ceremonies, best to talk to both a priest and a pastor about how to go about it.

Very helpful thread for ladies out there experiencing the same situation. Hope you could share more information about 2 ceremonies in one day weddings. I'm thinking to have one but still weighing the pros and cons.

At least now I know that it is doable!

Hi, Ladies.

So far for our case, agree naman kami ni h2b na Catholic church wedding. Naging clear na rin yung requirements since we visited the church (CTK) and chancery personally today. What's left for us to do for now is to make the dp and submit the endorsement letter from chancery, then we are officially reserved. 😊

Nung nabasa ko yung thread about couples na may 2 ceremonies, I brought it up kay h2b rin with respect to his preference and family. Kung siya lang daw di na kailangan ng Christian ceremony pa, ok na daw Catholic wedding.

Pero in preparation, in case his family will prefer to have Christian ceremony... we plan to do it the same day. Christian ceremony sa reception venue, prior the reception. Morning church wedding na rin kami (originally late afternoon) para may time for both ceremonies for the day. Tipid tactic namin - we'll look for venue na matagal yung hours of rental (or affordable extension rate) tapos we'll shorten the reception program to drop the unimportant activities, and give way to the Christian ceremony.

Balitaan ko kayo in case mag 2 ceremonies kami.

Hapi preps!

sorry bago lang, strict pa rin ba ang catholic church about outdoor weddings?  theyy still don't allow garden/beach weddings officiated by Catholic priests?

^Yes, still not allowed :)

Yung parang kay Jolina Magdangal. They did a quick ceremony sa church pero hindi lahat ng guest nandun. Sila lang and few witnesses. Yung actual wedding is a garden wedding. This is doable but I guess you have to sacrifice one and make it simple and fast lang.

Example, early in the morning get a simple dress for your church ceremony, only including your parents and a set of witnesses. Then do the preps for the Christian wedding. :)

Hi Ladies,
We are planning to do both weddings too, but on a different day. Any advice on what to do like for legal documents and such? Magkakaissue ba since 2 wedding ang balak namin.
TIA  :)
