wow, this is so exciting. I started with kalamansi, tomatoes and sili pang sigang kasi yun ang almost always ginagamit namin. then one day may nakita akong owner type jeep na nagbebenta ng fruit bearing trees na nakapark sa home depot. bumili ako ng lemon. Then, when we went to tagaytay, namili din ako ng herbs, rosemary, mint, dill, chocomint. Then last week, nadeliver na yung aquaponics namin. its a system na may garden sa upper part then may fish sa ilalim. dun sa growbed na yun, sandamakmak na edible plants. lettuce, mustasa, taragon, coriander, basil, garlic, andami. kelangan ko na nga ilista. then may tanglad, pandan and stevia sa gilid.

what's exciting in this system is that when i decide to cook sinigang, complete set na ko.

^ sis how mch yung aquapotics?

Just want to share my experience. Pero may konting lupa sa harap ng house namin tapos instead of throwing the seeds in the garbage can, nilalaglag ko lang sa may window namin, then bumabagsak lang siya sa lupa. Gulat ako kasi  tumubo pala sila. May papaya na at bell pepper.  kaso natapakan yung bell pepper, sayang may bunga na. Sana mabuhay pa siya.. Tapos may maliit na plant pang tumutubo.. Parang guyabano daw sabi ng father in law ko..

Wow nakakainspire naman kayo mga sis. :)

Kami we have atis tree sa likod ng bahay, we are planning to make a small room and a laundry area sa likod ng bahay kaso matatamaan yung atis tree. mejo malaki na sya at madaming bunga. Hubby wants to get rid of it, pero ako ayaw ko, the best we can siguro is to move the tree to a huge pot tapos ilalagay namin sa rooftop. Tingin nyo sis mabubuhay yung atis pag nilipat sa paso? TiA!

I tried it it sa rooftop ko, yung mga edible plants ko, mejo mahirap kasi dapat super deep ng soil mo. though nung baby pa yung plants ang ganda ng kulay kasi sagana sa sunlight!.  anyway, nabansot sya then, puro flowers lang. di nagproceed sa fruits.

Hello. Nakakainggit naman yung maraming vegetable and herb plants. I have some green onion, calamansi and we have a guyabano tree, yung iba puro flowers na tsaka ibang halamang gamot ng nanay ko. I really want to have more vegetable plants. Like others here naisip ko din tutal yun naman ang hilig ni mother, mas maganda na padamihin pa yung veggies :-)

I just want to ask, okay ba yung mga nabibili sa grocery na seeds? I want to try and grow them indoors nakita ko kasi sa yt it's one of the plants na pwede sa pots.

Aaaaah this is my dream :-* But we're living in a small condo unit and I have little experience in gardening. Maybe someday when we buy our house na lang.

Thanks for the reply sis. Pwede kaya Sementuhan ang paligid ng tree? d kaya lalabas ang ugat nya after some years?

Re Aquapoincs, pwede din pala i-DIY yun mga sis. very interesting. I'm planning to do this on our roof top. Read here: http://www.mb.com.ph/new-in-kangkong-and-dragon-fruit/

yes, pwede sya DIY. kaya lang since never naman ako nagka aquarium, di ko alam masyado yung Ph balance, amonia chuva and nitrate and nitrite. so ayun, yung set na binili namin. pero we are planning to replicate the system once I understand it very well.

about dun sa above article, you can place guppies instead of tilapia to prevent mosquito. as i understand the purpose of the fish is to prevent mosquitos, not for future harvest. very interesting nga yung about sa photoperidic dragon fruit. ang galing! will read on this further.

regarding sa malansa, maliliit pa kasi yung fish so baka kaya di pa malansa. but as of now, mas naamoy ko yung scent ng mint, coriander, taragon. pati nga lettuce and mustasa, naamoy ko. very fresh! lalo na pag maulan, ang bango, parang nasa probinsya.

When I went sa supplier, di naman malansa yung tanks nya. pwede rin daw cream dory. but tilapia is sturdy kaya yun ang advice nya sa katulad ko.

mejo out of topic na ito. hehe

hydroponics ata is just gardening without soil. aquaculture is raising aquatic animals for food. aquaponics is combination of hydroponics and aquaculture.

maganda talaga na may edible garden. yung house kasi namin, malayo sa palengke and tindahan. for me to buy kangkong, 20pesos ang trike one way. so 40pesos na yun. basta ang tinatanim ko maikli lang ang shelf life and yung almost always ginagamit like tomatoes, kangkong, sili, kalamansi.

yung iba naman, like luya, potatoes and garlic, accidental ko lang sya naitanim, otherwise, I will buy this in bulk and properly store it.

This is one of the reasons I chose to live in a house. I wanted to produce my own food. Assured ako na as much as possible I know where our food is coming from at walang dagdag na kemikal.

Kalamansi, kamias, dalandan, papaya, saging, mangga, santol, avocado, langka, chico. Madalas nag-uumapaw kaya damay pati mga kamag-anak. Iba ko ring relatives mahilig magtanim kaya exchange kami. hehe. Parang farmville lang.
