Has anyone experienced breastfeeding while pregnant?
« on: September 18, 2014, 06:57:25 am »
I was breastfeeding my son when I found out I was pregnant. for the first 6 months that my son was being breastfed, he was healthy and malusog. but for the next 4 months, his weight began to decrease significantly. at 10 mos old, he weighed 7.2kg. and he became thin. then i realized that i am pregnant for 4 months now (late ko nalaman). the pedia said that my milk diminished because of the pregnancy.

however, i have been reading online that it is okay to breastfeed while pregnant. so i can't make the two ends meet. why did my son lose a lot of weight? is my milk supply affected because of the pregnancy?

if i stop breastfeeding, will my milk come back when i give birth? because i want to breastfeed my newborn.

Not from personal experience. But I have a friend who is pregnant and she had to stop breastfeeding her son.

Sa pagkaka-explain din sa akin ni OB before, magkaiba kasi ang hormones for pregnancy and for milk production. When you give birth, the preg hormone decreases, the milk prodn hormone increases. And sometimes, breastfeeding causes the uterus to contract, kaya not advisable to breastfeed while pregnant, esp sa first tri. But then again, this is not from my personal experience, based lang to sa pagtatanong ko kay OB and own research.

Once you give birth na, most likely your breastmilk will come back again.

I suggest you talk to your OB about this para mas kampante ka. Iba-iba din kasi ang changes sa katawan ng tao while pregnant.

^^ sis, based sa mga nabasa ko naman, stop breastfeeding if preggy ka na uli. Isipin mo na lang your son needs nutrients from you, your unborn child also needs nutrients from you and you also need nutrients. Di ba? Ang dami nyo so possible that the nutrients you want to give your son is going to your unborn baby or for yourself as your body prepare again for pregnancy.
Pa-consult ka asap sa OB mo.

thank you for your replies. my son's pediatrician advised me to stop breastfeeding asap. she said my son is not getting enough milk from me, hence the significant weight loss. thankfully, i had no problems weaning because my son adapted to formula milk easily. i'm the one having separation anxiety because i loved breastfeeding.

^ as long as hindi ka nag contract while breastfeeding walang problema.
   ang tawag diyan tandem feeding.
   ang o.b hindi siya advocate?
tsaka hindi naman ibig sabihin nag lose ng weight son mo dahil na yan sa low bm supply. how old is    your son ba? active na siya? nag solid? bm and solid foods. kasi usually mag decline milk supply mo while pregnant pero as long as continuous, and wala ka contraction, then wala siya problema.
aside from that, breastfeeding while pregnant also helps you na di mahirapan mag produce milk when you give birth.
