Sino may sagot?
« on: September 09, 2014, 07:49:26 pm »
Mga sis, sino nagsagot ng fees for your wedding? Lahat ba si fiance? Or 50/50 or yung parents?

Also mga sis medyo OT pero sa mga parents sumagot, how did you feel na preparing the wedding na ikaw mamimili tapos sila gagastos? Di ba weird ng feeling?

90% si fiance 10% ako. Haha.

Hi, Sis @dr.thereal.joy.

For our wedding, it'll be my fiancé and I who will shoulder our expenses, 50/50. Although my parents did say they're going to pitch in some XXXK amount, I don't actually want to use it as we plan to use it instead for buying our future home. hehe... But they said they are going to pay for the place they're going to stay at since ours is destination wedding and my Mum is gifting me with my wedding gown. :) My family's entourage gown will also be shouldered by my parents. hehe...

If it'll be the parents who will entirely pay for the wedding, I guess you'd just be mindful of the expenses but also get your dream wedding. :)

Hubby shouldered most of the expenses. I had minimal contribution, small expenses during the preps. But the major stuff, si hubby. My family naman shouldered the "after-wedding party" (2 days after the wedding) - a separate "reception" for my mom's other friends and our other neighbors sa province.

His parents gave him an agreed amount as their contribution for the wedding. They wanted kasi to spend for the wedding, but hubby insisted na sya ang gagastos. Aside sa gusto nya na mostly pinaghirapan nya yung gagastusin for the wedding, gusto din namin na me freedom kami to decide whatever we want for our wedding. So as a compromise, my F-IL said he'll give na lang a certain amount as a "gift" na para sa wedding day. And he said we're free to decide where to spend it on.

30% will be shouldered by my family, 30% from his family, 20% from the fiance and 10% from me. Originally we were supposed to go for something really simple but then all of us realized na you will only get married once so might as well go for (not-so naman) broke. I've always been a girly girl so siyempre I want a fab and respectable wedding kahit papano.

Fiance ko lahat halos. Haha. Ako lang mga maliliit na details. Tapos niregalo ng MIL ko siya na bahala sa caterer.:)  that's 35% of the total amount of expenses. Tapos my mom nagbigay siya sa amin ng gift of a certain amount.

We pooled all our resources together.

Will also share my friend's experience as a caution na rin sa mga couples na may sagot ang family sa expenses.

As may portions or majority came from the side ng lalake, what happened was hindi lahat ng details and style na gusto ni girl nangyari. Need na may approval from mother ni guy.As expected hindi siya ganoon ka saya sa preps niya since hindi silang dalawa ang nag decide sa lahat lastly medyo OT na ito everytime na may clash between ke girl at MIL laging sumbat ni MIL ang mga ginastos sa kasal nila before tsk tsk.
Hopefully hindi ito mangyari sa inyo.

mostly my husband sumagot, we prefer not to ask both our families for help so ginawa nila niregalo nalang nila lahat in monetary yung dapat tulong nila for the wedding. kaya after the wedding nagulat kami kasi di namin inexpect yung mga money gifts nila and sinave namin ni hubby yun as joint savings account.

This really scares me. Sabi ng mom ko kung ano sabihin  ng mga IL umoo na lang daw ako pero I feel sad na I know they will make it to a nice wedding pero I am somewhat a little sad about this. Fiance is still in post grad (2more years pa siguro before he graduates) and ako naman I have placed my savings for my practice so ala talagang nasave atm. :(  plus both of our siblings are getting married next year so marami na agad gastos on the parents :/

Are they the type of person na madaming comments etc?

Masasabi ko sa ganyang sitwasyon meet half way, or have your own list of non-negotiable example wedding ring, gown reception, then sa other details you can let them decide pero dapat bukal sa loob mo iyon. So at least ma feel nila na may participation sila sa wedding ninyo if they insist on it, or puwede ring ikaw na mag offer just to get their side, kapag sinabing kayo na ang mag decide solve na problema mo ;)

With my brother 50/50 sila ng SIL2b ko and trying to shoulder everything by themselves.

^50/50 kami... We set a budget, if meron kaming personal na gusto at isa lang sa amin yung gusto talaga yun, then one of us will pay for the excess.  For example, i like more flowers sa church at dahil excess na yun sa budget, ako na yung magbabayad.  For our rings naman, lumagpas sa budget yung napili namin but since we both decided to get it then hati kami.

We wont be requesting any monetary assistance from our parents since pareho naman kaming may work.

In your case, ask your inlaws how much is the budget, then, you can pay for any excess.

sa wedding ng daughter ko 5 years ago, divided by 3 yung total expanses, 1/3 sa amin na parents ng bride. 1/3 sa parents ng groom, 1/3 sa bride and groom.  kahit ang tradition dito ay parents ng bride ang sagot sa wedding,  it was just too much.  kahit puti ang son in law namin, wala naman issue.
ok naman ang naging outcome,  it was a Catholic church wedding, may entourage including principal sponsors (family of son-in-law never heard of this, but they went along, they even added some pairs from their side).  tapos ang reception ay sa clubhouse ng isang private golf course na may vineyards pa.  simple, nothing over the top, tama lang.
now we are saving for my son's naman.  wala pa naman balak pero we'd like to be prepared.  kung ayaw nila ng traditional church wedding with reception,  ibibigay na lang namin sa kanya pang start nila.

If ever ba you have any choice not to let your future inlaws to shoulder expenses to the wedding? Sabi mo wala kapang savings kayo ni BF so wala talagang choice but to accept the reality that they will shoulder more sa expenses.. So it s a consequence na you cannot demand anything talaga kasi hindi mo naman pera unles tinanong ka nila if anong gusto mo. The only solution sa problem mo talaga ay accept the fact na pedeng me mag comment pero deadma mo nalang as long as OK kayo ng inlaws mo na gagastos go na!

Pede mo naman siguro sabihin ke BF na sa mga girly things like gowns mo gowns ng mga abay e baka pedeng ikaw mamili ng designs and if you have suppliers in mind na sure ka naman na magprovide ng good quality and they dont have supplier in mind naman baka you can suggest.

My fiancee and I had an unspoken agreement to divide expenses evenly between us, pero may mga adjustments din.  For example, yung mga extra flowers and designs na nirequest niya, pati na rin yung upgrade sa HMU (na double sa budget namin) she offered to shoulder exclusively.  We also decided that we'll spend for our own respective attires sa wedding, pero yung mga patahi sa gowns ng secondary sponsors and bridesmaids, makiki 50% ako dun.

My parents were offering to help with the expenses pero I told them kaya pa naman namin so huwag na muna.  I did not refuse completely kasi useful din ang assistance nila for emergency purposes, so I left that door open. :)  (No offense to those na magulang ang gumastos.)

Fiancé and I pooled in our resources. Sinabi din namin plans sa parents at never kami nanghingi.
I'm not comfortable din na gagastos sila ng malaki sa bagay na kami naman may gusto. It's also to start our life together being financially independent.

OC ako so naturally I want full control over my wedding. If you let someone else pay for anything, they will definitely have a say.
