^Parang nakita ko yung thread na yun. Ang dami nga natin binabayaran na tax when trading in the stock market: sales tax every time we buy/sell, stock transaction tax, withholding tax on dividends. Gusto pa ng BIR i-declare natin as income yung kita sa stock market para may makuha sila na 32% tax. Double, triple, quadruple taxation. Kawawa na naman si Juan.

Hello! I am a student planning to open an account at COLFinancial. How can I apply for a TIN number if I'm a student? Since requirement yung TIN for application sa COL. Or is there a way that I can apply without it? Thank you for your help in advance!

^^Nickel mining stocks! Also walang-kamatayang consumer stocks. Favorite nating Pinoy especially with the holidays coming up.

^You can open an account without TIN, but your dividends will be taxed 30% instead of 10%. You can also go to the nearest BIR office and get a TIN number there. Since you're a student, use form 1904. Don't say you'll be using it to invest in stocks, though -- say you're going to use it to open a bank account or get a driver's license. You can also apply for a TIN online on BIR's website and write the number generated on COL's form right away.

^^I was referring to consumer stocks, like Jollibee, Max's, and Emperador. You know how people love to drink during the holidays, and how much OFWs coming home to the Philippines want to eat at the Filipino fast food joints they miss. I didn't say anything about waiting. Actually, from the way things are going, it looks like it's going to be a very bullish holiday season.

^Maganda pa rin forecast sa lahat ng nickel stocks: NIKL, MARC, ORE, take your pick. But I don't know if they're for long-term though (more than 2 years). Ma-lift lang yung export ban sa Indonesia, game over na.

thanks, pero wala akong alam sa mining. ayaw ko sumubok sa hindi ko alam. ok ako dyan sa jfc pero sobrang taas na.  im rooting rrhi talaga for long term. my thinking lang is, sino pa ba lalaban kay SM? hehe saka gusto ko sana long term, nag try ako day trade sa penny stocks, yun 1k na talo ko, nakatutok lang ako sa screen maghapon hahaha sinita na nga ako ng boss ko kung ano ginagawa ko kasi nakatulala lang ako eh.

^Ah, wala, I was just sharing my own personal bets. Not recommending anything. I bought RRHI before too, but it was slllooowww. That seems the be the case for property stocks this year. MEG did well at the start, but stalled after the first quarter.

You can take a look at power stocks, too. With the impending power shortage in 2015-2016, power stocks are predicted to rise. Ngayon pa nga lang, EDC and FGEN are soaring.

^hahaha yeah, bagal nga saka taas baba ang rrhi. pero im putting my trust in it...hmmm iniisip ko na lang si SM.

yup yan balak ko susunod pag nagkaron ng extra. bumili ako last month ng ACR (dahil sa chismis), langya...bumagsak naman. sobra inip ko, binenta ko patalo.  im looking at EDC, kaso FGEN owns it.  namamahalan naman ako sa FGEN. ang gulo nitong layering na to ha hahaha  anong pick mo sa power, sis?

^MY pick is FGEN, but I have had it since... ber months of last year. Wow, one year ko na pala inuupuan 'to. To be honest, I only bought FGEN before because I liked its chart -- I had no idea then what company it was nor had I any idea that there would be a power shortage in the coming years. I just had beginner's luck with that pick. But right now, APC is hot.

I used to stick only to the companies I know, but, bleh, the companies I pick always move differently from its stock. So I have a bias towards technical analysis. But oftentimes, I just look at the trends -- if a stock is going up, who cares what kind of company it is and why it's going up? Basta get on it and make money off of it!

By the way, ladies, will you be buying SSI at its IPO? This is one stock we don't need to research on -- kilalang-kilala na natin 'to!

I am also thinking about SSI. Ang kaso medyo madami silang debts diba. Or maybe nabi-bias lang ako, kasi a friend was a manager of one of the SSI brands and parang nachika nya na may issue nga sila (SSI & Rustan´s) before sa debts and sa company handling.  So hindi siguro ako bibili during IPO. Intayin ko ang trends muna hihi.

letters_to_cleo, thanks for the tip. I read that, too, that not all of SSI's brands are generating money. The IPO is just a means to become liquid and to pay off debt. :/ But market sentiment is very optimistic on consumer/retail stocks, so could SSI be one of those stocks again that move very differently from the company? We'll see. Gambling time. Haha.
