sis pongski, sa next Urinalysis mo ask for one na kasama ang ketones.  Sa akin kasi lagi naman kasama. Pero nakikita ko minsan sa request ng OB ko, Urinalysis with Ketones. Gaano kababa readings mo sis?  Yes, na-diagnose ang GDM ko at 4 weeks. Thank God okay naman CAS ko. Sis, marami naman na early diagnosed na okay at walang problem ang baby nila. Basta think positive ka lang. Follow OB and Endo, sacrifice lang talaga muna. Pray lang lagi tayo. Inask ko si OB if safe ba ang Metformin sabi nya yes ilang dekada na daw ginagamit at okay naman mga babies. =) Kaya natin to. =) Wag ka na din magbasa sa internet kasi minsan nakakapraning ang mga nakalagay dun especially sa mga forums about health etc..

Thank God, I don't have GD though mataas [textspeak!] 3rd hr ng OGTT ko
I am even allowed to eat sweets basta konti lang.. once a week nga lang daw but OB didn't say, how much hehe..

blueberryalmond, mura nga! yung strip ko P1200/50pcs. lancet i think is about P4.50 each. ang hassle talaga is that hindi sya available sa mercury.

I'm also using Levemir.  Hindi ko na maalala how much yung needle pero parang hindi naman aabot ng P15.  Sometimes I use the needle 2x. hehe

Bakit pala may Novorapid ka pa?

Sis blueberryalmond thanks sa info. Kasi ang endo ko basta monitoring palang pinagagawa sa akin eh. Di pa siya nag rerequest na magpa urine ako, pero nagpa urine test nako kasi gusto ko monthly check ko kung okey ang urine test ko. And binigay na range ng endo ko is pre meal <90 and after <140. Mga reading ko 2x na after dinner is 85 and after breakfast 89. Tinawagan ko naman endo ko sinabi ko na ganun nga kaya pinatigil na muna niya yung metformin ko after breakfast. Pro mostly mga reading ko after meal is 90 to 120 lang. Wala rin binigay na meal plan basta follow ko lang daw yung 9" meal plate na dapat every meal 1/2 vegetables, 1/4 carbo and 1/4 protein. So far okey naman ako kasi okey naman sa laki si baby as per aog nya.
Thanks atleast na comfort ako worry kasi ako kaya minsan ayaw ko na magsearch eh. Im taking metformin naman before my preganancy kasi nga pcos ako so plus factor  na rin daw yun sabi ni endo and pag take ko ng folic.. Think positive and lots of prayers lang talaga sis ang mahal pa ng strips😭😭😭

Sis Skela, Novorapid talaga ang unang prinescribe sakin kasi breakfast lang ako nagkakaproblem. lunch dinner hindi. so fast acting insulin. Dati binigyan ako ng Novomix, long acting sya pero naghypo ako so pinastop nagdiet muna kami. Recently, hindi na kinakaya ng Novorapid ang taas ng sugar ko plus nagkaproblem pa sa delayed reaction ko sa fast acting insulin, naghypo ako 2x at naadmit, dun ako binigyan ng Levemir. So far ok na naman namamanage ko na sugar. di na din deprived. =)

sis pongski, buti ka pa, ako 130 maximum lang pwede sakin. sundin mo lang si OB and endo. =) btw, inask ko pala endo ko, dun sa question mo if prone sa abnormalities ang baby if early nadiagnose ang GDM. Sabi nya, not necessarily. ang dangerous is if matagal exposed si baby sa uncontrolled blood sugar. kaya impt na macontrol sya as early as possible. kaya continue mo lang sis, eat more veggies. maganda naman pla ang range mo. =)

^i see.  Nakakatakot ma hypo. Buti tama din ang sinabing insulin unit sakin ni endo at the onset.

Sis pongski, I too have been diagnosed at 7weeks. Been on insulin on my 13th week. Nag CAS ako yesterday (20th w), okay naman and healthy si baby.  Tama din ang size nya. Don't worry. Basta follow lang what the docs are saying.

Re metformin, namention sakin ni OB kahapon na hindi daw to adviseable sa preggo. Pwede daw until about 12weeks but beyond that wag na daw.

Hi! Joining the thread. Di ko sure if meron akong Gestational Diabetes kasi di naman sinabi ni OB. Yung FBS ko kasi ang mataas ng konti, yung first and second hour ok naman. Pinapamonitor nya rin sa akin yung glucose level ko yata yun. So one week need ko rin magtest ng morning before meals then another one either one hour after bfast, lunch or dinner.

Salamat blueberryalmond sa recommendation. Pinakumura nga yata yung One touch select Simple. Bought the entire kit for around 1800 kanina with 3 boxes ng 25pieces strips yata yun. Wala kasi yung machine lang. Sabi ko sa girl di ko naman kailangan yung 3 boxes. Hopefully di ko talaga sya kailanganin. Kinakabahan lang ako sa pagtusok sa sarili ko twice a day.

i recently had my OGTT although next week pa ang schedule ko kay OB. yung FBS ko eh low. tapos based sa mga nabasa ko sa internet sa ranges for OGTT 1st and 2nd hour parang nasa pre-diabetics na ako. sana diet muna sabihin ni OB sa akin next week.

ano mga result niyo nung pina-insulin na kayo? thanks!

It's nice to be back 😊..missed this thread..I was active here during my pregnancy ...my baby is a healthy 18 months old now..have a spare time now to backread and share some personal experience or knowledge

Sis Pongski, this caught my attention about taking Metformin during pregnancy.. I had type 2 diabetes before pregnancy and Metformin was my maintenance but OB and Endo advice is to shift to insulin at 5 weeks when Pregnancy was confirmed.

I agree with sis Skela's OB regarding Metformin

To all GDM mommies, just relax and enjoy the pregnancy.. I know how hard the struggles you are going through but it is worth it. It really takes a lot of self-discipline and self-control..

hi sis chizyness, welcome to the group. =) first hour lang ng OGTT ang bagsak sakin pero GDM na daw yun. Dapat less than 180 pero 219 result ko. Di agad ako insulin, nag try muna kami ng diet and metformin. mid first trimester, nag insulin ako pero fail kaya balik diet. Nearing Third trimester nako nag insulin talaga.

Yesterday, inask ko ang question about Metformin and Insulin sa OB and Endo ko. I-share ko lang ang feedback nila. Sabi ni OB, safe naman ang Metformin since it has been used for 5 decades already and wala naman nakitang adverse effect sa mga babies. Si Endo naman, mas matagal ko nakachat about this. She said na may study done in Australia wherein 3000 babies ang kasama, nakita nila na metformin may cross the placenta but the babies showed no sign naman of any developmental delay etc. May repeat study after 5 years wherein yung mga babies na kasama sa study, 5 years old na and okay pa rin sila. They want to know if may effect ito later on sa development. Late this year, due for release na ang study na 10 years old na ang mga kids. Itatanong ko nalang ulit sa kanya. Iba iba ang feedback ng mga OB regarding Metformin. Siguro ang important is you trust your doctors kasi sila ang expert sa mga bagay na yan.

Share ko lang, happy ako kasi akala ko super malaki si baby kaya malaki ang size nya sa ultrasound. This is common daw to GDM babies. OB said na mahaba sya kaya pala sya malaki. =)

Am guilty of not sharing my birth story 18 months ago hehe..super busy talaga mag-isa Lang ang nanay nag-aalaga ke baby kasi 1 month post delivery back to work na ang tatay hehe

As per my medical report, doctors described my delivery as UNEVENTFUL haha.. Yes, CS not because of diabetes but at 39 weeks & 4 days, there was a leaking membrane...3.9 kgs si baby very healthy..until now, unbelievable sa akin na no complications kami ni baby..very quick recovery at most of all smooth pregnancy..never akong nag ka UTI, to think that diabetics are prone to it..God is good! keep on praying with all your heart

Yes, you are right for several decades na nga Metformin pero majority of OB & endocrinologist I've consulted were in favor of insulin during pregnancy ..kumbaga, the best treatment ang insulin at better alternative lang ang Metformin ..kaya yun ang sinunod ko, di baleng masakit hehe..8 months insulin ako..

advise ko lang sa meron GD, tiis Lang talaga at sa umpisa lang nakakatakot yun injection at pricking...nagawa ko na rin yan 7x a day pricking hehe..sariling decision ko lang para me peace of mind at no anxiety na baka mataas ang blood sugar....sabi nga ng isang Endo, mas strict ka pa nga sa akin hehe...

kahit anong bawal ng mga doctors kung sarili natin ay hindi kayang mag control kawawa lang ang baby
have a healthy lifestyle post delivery cause you are a candidate to Type 2 diabetes..consider yourself lucky at least maagapan nyo pa kesa meron ng diabetes kasi me forever ang diabetes hehe

Sis skela thanks sa info... Last week 12weeks ko na and nag stop na rin ako ng metformin. Actually before natanong ko na rin sa endo ko about taking metformin sabi nga nagkaroon nga ng study na ok naman ang pagtatake ng metformin. Iba iba lang siguro approach ng mga endo. At that time naman kasi nakakatakot if i wont follow my endo. Dapat on my 12 weeks mag iinsulin na ko, good thing is ok mga readings ko so she gave me another 2weeks to monitor my blood sugar baka makuha pa daw sa diet.

Sis blueberryalmond.. Ganyan din yung sinabi ng endo ko regarding metformin nung first check up ko sa kanya. Nagkaroon nga daw ng study regarding taking metformin and okey naman daw yung study. Though parang ayaw kong magtake nun kasi nga i have a friend na gdm din and yung endo naman nya di siya pinagtake ng metformin. That time naman kasi nakakatakot if i wont follow my endo and im thinking na sila yung mas nakakaalam sa mga ganyan and i can see naman na updated endo ko kasi highly recommended siya mostly dito sa amin. Siguro iba iba lang talaga approach ng mga endo n ob.

Sis pongski,  yes, sila OB at endo ang nakakakaalam nyan kasi alam nila history natin and they will be the one to decide if the benefits outweigh the risks.. basta important is we trust them

^95 ang FBS na sinet na maximum sakin ni endo.

Pero since according to her, nagdidiet daw ako she still recommended that I have 10units insulin every night para i can have 1cup of rice for dinner. 

recently had HbA1c. bumaba na sya! though slight lang. hehe. Before kasi ang results ko (at 8w) 5.8. Prediabetes is 5.7-6.5.  Now its 5.6 (at 24w).  Pumasok na sa normal kahit papano. Ü

Yung first na FBS ko kasi is 93 eh 92 raw cut off so pinapaulet sakin since 24weeks na ako..
so diet mode sa matatamis..
I know all of this will be worth it.

Hello mommies!  kamusta na ang mga blood sugar natin? Ü

I'm on my 27w now, last visit ko kay endo a week ago and so far wala pa din pagbabago sa insulin units ko, 10units every night pa din.  Ok na kasi ang readings ko.

But she warned me that at this stage of pregnancy possible na tumaas ang sugar ko. so lalong bantay sa diet at wag bibitaw. hehe
