^Yes, it is possible. Gestational diabetes is driven by hormones and not diet. Also, diabetes is not only a sensitivity to sweet things, it is a sensitivity to all high carbohydrate foods. So possible pa rin maging diabetic kung hindi mahilig sa matamis pero madami kumain ng rice, bread, pasta, and other high carb foods.

For those with no dietary problems, don't worry. Many women who are diagnosed with GD can control their sugars with diet din naman :-) It's not the end of the world.

Finally saw an endo. Pinagmomonitor nya ko 4x a day (pre breakfast, 1hr after meals). I'm allowed 2000kcal/day.

nakakaloka lang na nagskyflakes ako for dinner the night before, pero 103 ang FBS ko today. pero the other day rice meal dinner tapos 93 lang ang FBS.

I also asked the help of my officemates na wag nila ko itempt sa mga food deliveries. Lol!

sis skela96c, ang calorie content ng 1 skyflakes ay equivalent sa 1 cup rice. pm mo sakin ang email address so i can share with you yung meal plan na bigay ni sis chimponzi. =)

Hi po, ask ko lang kung gano katagal nagdedevelop ang GDM sa preggies? Kasi nagpaOGTT naman po ako when I was about 5 months pregnant and normal naman yung blood sugar level. Pero posible kaya magdevelop pa ito after that? I'm 34 weeks pregnant na po. Wala naman po diabetic sa family namin. TIA!

^we have the same concern, anawim28.  minsan pa ang FBS ko 120 tapos ang after breakfast ko 107.  at tanging yung FBS ko lang ang lumalagpas sa values advised by the doctor.

I'm going back to my endo this weekend to show my week's record. will ask her why is this. may explanation akong nakita sa web but better if my doctor could explain it to me.

Unfortunately, my endo's out of town for two weeks. so baka next week pa ko makabalik.

ano ang usual FBS reading mo sis anawim? i just observed lately that if i eat a little before sleeping, much better ang FBS ko. like for two days now, 92 and 94 respectively.

I also read about how apple cider helps in lowering FBS. But i just don't know if this is advisable during pregnancy.

hi sis anawim and sis skela, ang pagkakaalala kong explanation ni Endo sa high sugar sa morning is mga preggy ay high ang cortisol levels sa morning which interferes with insulin production.

me always over ang blood glucose after breakfast. 3x a day lang monitoring ko after meals as required by endo. now i'm on insulin at 26 weeks kasi hirap nako imanage ang sugar with diet and metformin. So now happy ako, i can eat without being bitin and without feeling deprived.

sis no idea on apple cider, better check with endo / OB.

^same talaga tayo anawim.  recently, what i do, after dinner naglalakad lakad ako. or light exercise. hindi na din naman heavy ang dinner ko so okay lang.  before sleeping, i drink 1 yakult.  I sleep at 10pm and wake up at 6ish am. so atleast 8hrs fast din yun.

I noticed kahit yung post prandial readings ko mas mababang range na. kahit rice with veg and meat pa.

Ok so i was finally able to see my endo again. Very good ang blood sugar monitoring ko. BUT i lost about 1kg. So sabi nya i was not eating enough. Pinag iinsulin nya ko once a day (before sleeping) para daw i can eat properly.

Nalilito na ko. Nung una bawasan ang kain now kumain naman. Lol! At ang bilin nya i have to eat 1cup of rice every meal. I was thinking i was really supposed to lose weight dahil im eating right now (no sodas, no sweets, no chicheria, parating gulay etc).

Sabi ko di naman ako nagugutom. In fact i eat almost every 2hrs. Basta daw mag insulin ako. I have to gain weight daw. Ok. Fine. Whatevs for the baby.

Pano ka mag iinsulin sis skela96c san mo sya iinject sa tummy or sa arms? Yan kase fear ko takot ako mag inject sa sarili ko and wala rin makakatulong sa akin mag inject. Anything for our baby we will do everything.

Sa tummy sis.  Basta daw not within 2inches radius of the navel. I hope you're not scared of needles, maliit lang naman sya. Tsaka pen type lang so its not as intimidating.

Actually when the doc explained why she's putting me on insulin, it doesnt sound so bad. Wag daw ako magworry. Di ba kasi at first when i heard about it parang "what? Oh no. Why will i be on insulin?" Ganyan. But basically we're just trying to manage our body's pregnancy reaction.  So rather than ok ang blood sugar level ko pero di lumalaki si baby dahil nadidiet ako, mag insulin na lang para i can eat right and have enough carbs for the baby's growth Ü

kakatapos ko lang sa ogtt last saturday and fortunately, i passed. di rin naman talaga ako ma-sweets pero malakas ako sa carbs tsaka nagi-iced tea ako and coke once in a while. and sabi nga nila, if may gdm ka talaga, kahit anong diet, lalabas at lalabas din yun. driven by hormones and not by diet nga, sabi ni sis maita. and sa akin, mas better na yung madiagnose ng tama kung meron talaga kasi delikado for both the mom and baby if hindi sha properly monitored.

@sis cherness tiis muna na hindi mag-sweets, no to mommy milk, and water lang muna. no to iced tea, soda, and sweetened drinks. healthy diet lang with lots of veggies din. and not just for the sake of the test, para na rin hindi mashado lumaki si baby. baka mapilitan ka kasi ma-cs kung ganon.
