I'm very frustrated with my first OGTT result.

I snack sweet potato, broccoli. I don't eat bread, cookies, or pasta. Puro vegetables and meat lang. Tapos a serving or 2 nang fruit. I also don't get cravings for sweets coz I don't like sweets. I drink water lang din.

Pero wtf, positive for GD.

I tried to find articles on the net for people na healthy eating naman, pero positive pa din for GD.

I want to buy a glucometer and monitor my blood sugar myself. Coz seriously, I think it's a misdiagnosis.

Can I buy that device without prescription?

^ I tested na kanina. I sticked with my existing diet kasi I'm confident I'm eating well. Yung before breakfast ko is 90 mg/dl.

Di ko nakuha yung after breakfast.

After lunch ko is 96 mg/dl.

I will monitor my blood sugar for a week before going to the endocrinologist. My something wrong talaga sa OGTT test ko.

Sis icedtallcoffee, nagfast ka ba before OGTT?

^ Yup 10 hours.

Yung yesterday ko with my current normal diet:
FBS 83 mg/dl
2 hours after breakfast = 80 mg/dl (2 medium sized sweet potatoes)
2 hours after lunch = 105 mg/dl (half rice, pork chop, ginataang vegetables, sinigang)
2 hours after dinner = 101 mg/dl (half rice, pinakbet, pork and mushroom

Ang worry ko kasi 7 weeks preggers pa lang ako, so early, tapos wala akong history of anything, wala din sa family.

^ Mukha normal naman sugar mo. Pero ako one hour after every main meal pinapacheck ang sugar. Ask mo sa endo ito. Sarap naman ulam mo. hehe.

I was diagnosed at 5 weeks. Simula non nag metformin nako, monitor sugar 3 x a day, weekly urinalysis at controlled diet. Nag insulin ako for one week pero nistop din kasi naghypoglycemia Ako.

If may doubts ka [textspeak!] mo [textspeak!] parepeat ang ogtt mo.

^ Thanks.

Medyo di lang ako comfortable dun sa test, 75g of glucose in 5 minutes. I seldom consume that much sugar in one seating.

I tried testing 1 hour after meals today.
FBS: 86
Forgot to measure after breakfast
1 hour after lunch 98
1 hour after dinner 112

So nitong buwan pagbalik ko last monday, hindi nya naalala. Pero normal naman ultrasound sakin and all. Balik kami ulit bukas.

:) Alam mo na ba if normal delivery or cs ka? Possible kasi maging cs if malaki si baby.

Pag 3x in a week na above 130 ipapainsulin nako. Balik batas militar nako. Ayoko tlaga mag insulin. Isip ko baka dahil 21 weeks nako mas impaired na yung insulin production ko because of increased pregnancy hormones Kaya todo taas ang sugar ko

^thanks sis!

If 3 times na above 130 in one week, insulin na. :(

I am not GD, but rather, I have pre-existing Diabetes Type 2 and I was controlling my sugar with diet before pregnancy up to the 3rd trimester. When I hit 28 weeks in pregnancy, it started getting harder to control my sugar with just diet so I had to start on insulin shots. Now my sugar is always in the 80mg/dl to 95 mg/dl range (fasting) and 97mg/dl-125mg/dl (post prandial), but it's really a sacrifice in terms of diet.

I eat non-starchy vegetables and almost no fruits except for avocados and small amounts of coconut, then any kind of protein. I don't eat rice, no bread, no pasta, no potatoes, and no sweets except for tiny tiny amounts of dark chocolate (75% cacao or above). My main concern was making sure that baby's growth was on track so I eat until whenever I am hungry until I am full as long as it is a non-starchy vegetable and any protein.

So far so good. At 35 baby is 5lbs 12oz, within normal range for his gestational age. My total weight gain so far this pregnancy is 14lbs.

For women with GD, I know that you are controlling your sugar, but make sure din that you are not hungry. What worked for me talaga is to substitute my carbs with more vegetables (basta non-starchy) then protein (fish, chicken, beef, pork, eggs, whatever you can tolerate). Good luck to us! We can do this!

Sis annamarie88, wow malapit na isang kembot nalang.  Have a safe delivery sis. :)

Sis maita,  thanks for sharing and for the encouragement. :) Ang galing mo saludo ako sayo. Hehe I tried yung mga 83% cacao na dark choco too bitter for me. May isa akong friend na halos wala din carbs, more on protein Talaga. Can you share ang sample meal mo  like for breakfast etc? Now kasi i still eat rice and bread pero fruits Tinigil ko na.

For meals, normally in the morning hardboiled eggs or omelette para may veggies na na kasama. Other meals are fried chicken or fish with chop suey or pinakbet or any ginisang gulay. I don't really make meal plans. I eat any meat and then kahit ano Luto ng gulay. Iwas lang sa gravy kasi mandalas may flour yun which is also nakakataas ng sugar.

^hi sis! For snacks I eat nuts also, cheese, bits of meat.... wala din naman rules. But I don't drink milk kasi yung lactose nakakataas ng sugar. :-)

my initial OGTT  (at 8weeks) showed high sugar. so kahit di naman super taas, my OB recommended that i see an endo.  hindi ako umabot sa sched ng endo last weekend so next weekend na lang. pero meantime, i'm watching my diet na.

halfcup rice + boiled egg for breakfast. for lunch, grilled cheese using wheat bread. dinner, usually fish + half cup rice. in between, i take Jacob's hi-fibre.  di muna ko nagbabanana. watermelon na lang pag meron.

Please share, sisters, what you also eat so I can take note.  THanks!
