Seattle to Portland

anyone tried Amtrak train from Seattle to Portland, or vice versa? Im jsut curious what are the differences between Amtrak Cascades and Coast Starlight. any inputs? thanks

I've tried Amtrak trains but on different routes (EC/WC vise versa). Looking at the website the only difference I see is the train configuration. Cascades only has seats (economy and business) unlike the Starlight that comes with roomettes/bedrooms on top of regular seats.

I've tried both regular seats and roomettes. Mas comfortable yung roomettes syempre kasi the seats convert to bunks/beds. But since your travel time Seattle to Portland is only less than 4 hours, okay na to get economy seats. If you want to see how a roomette looks like, you can check my blog for the pics. im seeing reviews like Amtrak Cascades are better than CS but those were written last 2010 pa. thanks for the info mama squeak! ill check your blog na.

I've tried the everett to portland route via amtrak cascades last month. For 6 hours trip, it was ok naman. Comfy leather seats and spacious din. Though yung naupuan namin originally e walang table kasi 2 [textspeak!] kami pero nung may navacate na seats with the table, we asked the train conductor if we can move to the empty seats. Ok lang daw pero kung may sasakay na 4,itatransfer kami. Hehe. Overall the entire experience was good.

we'll try Amtrak Cascades na rin from Portland to Vancouver. sana hindi kaagad mafully booked, we're planning to get business class for experience thanks sa inputs!
