VUL is an insurance product. It's like insurance + UITF in one.
If the person you spoke to offers you a VUL then you're talking
to someone from BPI-Philam not from BPI like perasense said.

An equity fund is a type of fund that invests in stocks.

There is a mutual fund equity fund and a UITF equity fund.

For simplification purposes, just think UITF when you get
it from the bank and mutual fund if you get it from an investment
company. And a VUL if you get it from an insurance company..but
this one has an additional insurance component.

If the fund invests in stocks then it's an equity fund.
If the fund invests in bonds then it's a fixed income or bond fund
There are a lot of bond fund variants.
Then if the fund invests in super short investments then it's called
a money market fund.

Hope that helps

VUL is insurance + investment fund.

UITF is an investment fund.

Equity Fund is a type of investment fund.

So there is an Equity Fund in both a VUL or a UITF.

A lot of banks are tyring to market their VUL products so pag sinabi mong Equity Fund lang, 99% of the time, yung VUL ang i-oofer nila sa iyo.

Not a COP per se but a notification of the transaction will be sent by mail.
I accumulated a bunch before I learned you could tell them to stop lol
No need for any physical doc. You can redeem online.

Question, nung nag try ako mag subscribe sa rsp (first time ko) kailangan ng 10k initial invesment, tapos choice na 1k every month dagdag... Pwede ba yung 1k lang everytime mula gusto mong start date without initial na 10k?

Hi Sisses,

I need enlightenment.

My husband and I have a combination of five policies with Philamlife.  We each both have Family Secure (VUL po), I have QuantumFlex, Versalife and MoneyWorks.  We are covered, plus may savings pero I don't have any Critical Illness Rider.

I was planning to use my 13th month pay this year to put up a college fund for our two year old son.  Nag-inquire ako sa BPI-Philam.  I was given a proposal for BuildLife Plus.  The proposal is a five-year pay plan of PhP60k per year tapos best to withdraw on the 11th year.  So yung ihuhulog kong more or less PhP300k in five years ay magiging more or less PhP700k projected kung magcocollege na ang anak namin.  60k kasi may critical illness rider na 250k.  The premiums would be invested sa BPI-Philam Equity Index Fund 2.  The agent believes it is stable kasi nga naman, SM, SMDC, Ayala, JG Summit siya nakalagay.

I consulted with my aunt who used to be with BPI - 30 years siya dun.

I also consulted my financial planner about BuildLife Plus and hindi rin siya pabor.  Kasi raw, he prefers it na nasa pure fund yung pera for my son - tipong nagagalaw ko.

Can you sisses please help me decide?  Kaya ko binasa tong thread na to, to give me the pros and cons of my options.  Thanks.

^Hi sis.. i think we are in a similar situation.. i am also thinking of opening an investment account (not sure pa which type) for college fund ng daughter ko (she is also 2 yrs old). Anyway, hubby and I are also covered with different insurance (we have vuls and traditional life insurance, may riders din). Ako naman, I got a quotation for Sunlife My future fund (yung commercial ni juday).. as of now pinag-iisipan ko pa if kasi it is also a vul though market nila is for our child's education. However, I am gearing towards uitf and mutual fund instead of vul  (baka bond or balance fund para medyo conservative).

IMO, if for college fund and the time frame is shorter, (compared to ang goal ay retirement fund na 20 to 30 years from now pa) parang too risky ang mag-invest sa pure equity fund. I agree with your financial advisor na you don't need additional coverage since may mga existing vuls na kayo. In my opinion, ok ang vul kung wala ka pang life insurance coverage but if you already have one, better to invest in other avenues. Reading online especially those in favor of BTID (buy term invest the difference) made me realize many things. Hope this helps..
