^Single accounts and joint accounts are covered 500k each separately.

But I do see a mistake (thanks for pointing it out): I should've written that coverage for ITF accounts is NOT shared -- only the share of the person in-trust-for is covered by PDIC. If the mom opens an ITF for the anak, the anak is considered the sole principal account owner.

PDIC illustrative cases for all types of single and joint accounts

"1. A joint account regardless of whether the conjunction “and”, “or”, “and/or” is used, shall be insured separately from any individually-owned deposit account/s."

So this is something we can take advantage of -- one person can have up to 1M PDIC-covered if the deposits are divided among relatives

^Yes, and I also just meant to emphasize that it's not as simple as 500k per person per bank. Since single accounts and joint and/or/by accounts are insured separately, one person can have as much as 1M in one single bank that's covered by PDIC. The PDIC links I put up provide in-depth explanations and sample cases.

Ok mga sis salamat, mayroon pa ako tanong regarding naman sa uitf ok po ba na mag invest ngayon as in nextweek, bagsak ba ang market ngayon or pataas na uli. ok po ba ang balance fund ng bpi? ano po mas ok dito bpi equity value fund, bpi high dividend, bpi equity index fund? Balak ko 50k pero 10k muna initial then yung 40k siguro monthly pedeng 1k 2k 5k or 10k hangang sa mabuo ko yung 50k. Ano po masusugest nyo mga sis.

Then tanong ko rin do you think aabot ng 9000 or 10000 yung psei. Meron bang limit yun i mean once na reach nya yung 9k or 10k bababa uli sya ng 6k 5k 4k etc.... parang cycle lang ba sya?

Taas baba index these days but ok pa din magequity. Bilis lang ba magswitch funds?

Nobody can tell how the market will go but so far projections are up to 2016 ok then after that possible pababa na.

Yes malulugi pag ganon so you can either redeem before that or set it as very long term until the market regains strength.

jonisha, it looks safe to enter now. Pwede ka dun sa Equity Value, High Dividend, or Equity Index, halos parehas lang sila sa returns and fees. Good idea yung pag-breakdown mo ng 50k -- pwede 10/5k per month.

Like what j.adore said, most predictions now are okay pa ang equities until end of the year, tapos baka bumaba na by elections time in 2016.

Okay din yung ganitong style kung meron kang goal na gusto mong mapagipunan in 5 years or more, like car, house, pang-tuition, and etc.

Yes, there's no charge if you add the minimum(1k) or any amount for that matter.
And yes you can redeem partially. I haven't tried redeeming anything less than
1k but I'm sure 1k is the smallest you can redeem.

Any suggestion mga sis. Thanks

These are facts. As Bernardo Villegas, (economist) stated in his speech during the convention I attended, kahit si Vice Ganda pa ang manalong president, ang growth ng Philippines tuloy tuloy lang, the point here is that, wala daw effect kung sinong mananalong presidente ang growth ng bansa, tuloy tuloy ito talaga, this year ang GDP natin is 6%, at paakyat pa ito gang 10%. Consider the remittances of the OFW, they wouldn't care kung sinong presidente pa ang manalo, magpapadala at magpapadala sila ng pera sa mga families nila di ba? the BPO's, halos mapantayan na ang remittances ng OFW, dati maraming walang trabaho, hindi makahanap ng work kapag walang natapos, ngayon kahit undergrad nakakapasok na ng call center di ba? also consider the effect of the ASEAN summit, the tarriff rate is down to 0% and ASEAN nations are helping and collaborating with each other and not more on competition.

hindi lang si Dr. Bernardo Villegas ang nagspeech sa convention, some of the speakers were:
1. Managing Director of Philippine Equity Partners, Inc Mr. Jojo Gonzales,
2. Group Chief Economist of AIA Group Limited, Mr. Brian Murray
3. Chief of Party, USAID Trade-Related Assistance for Development (TRADE), Mr. Cielito Habito,

at lahat sila, consistent ang mga reports regarding the growth of our economy.

you would see in the news that Philippines is the 2nd fastest growing economy in the world, true good to be true as you would think di ba? pero totoo yan whether you like it or not hehe...

magandang alamin talaga where the Philippine economy stands, para malaman natin how we could grow our money by investing it in long term portfolios.

There's no such thing as a safe investment because there's always the risk of a fund not doing well.
Though maganda performance ng BPI short term fund namin started late last year puro increase naman.

Emergency fund is just that. For emergencies that shouldn't have decreasing value and should be accessible anytime.
Kung ok lang sa inyo mag risk, maybe just put a quarter or half of it?
Or separately invest in a more aggressive fund to offset yung "lugi" sa savings account.

@jonisha - same with j.adore. So far ok ang investment namin dyan, better than TD rates. Pro yung fund namin na nandun eh not for emergency but for short-term investment talaga. Something that I'm expecting to use in 6 months time.

you probably won't get any help from them.
they just basically process orders.
if you want assistance with your investment, better
go with mutual funds. they have agents who will
attempt to give you financial advice.

BPI's mutual fund ALFM do not have agents and
are processed by the same people from their bank.

If you don't want to pay for an agent's commission,
ask your self, what is your goal for this investment?
How long can you afford to leave it invested?
What is your risk appetite? Can you stomach seeing your
investment lose 20%(paper lost only)?

The higher the risk, the bigger the potential rewards are.
The longer the time frame, the less chances of losing money.

I think, they can help you sa investment needs mo. Pro better pa rin to ask yourself kung anong investment plan mo. Anong risk appetite mo, number of years you're planning to hold on to that investment. Kasi to be honest, i don't think all agents (be it insurance or asset management company) eh alam din ang binebenta nila. Some of them tingin ko ibebenta sa client kung anong product ang malaki ang commission kahit na hindi naman swak sa risk profile client.

I pulled out all when the market is going up last April, when I hit my target income and when i think super taas na ng PSEi since yun ang reference ko. Ngayon, sa oddessy bond fund ng bpi ako nag-invest for long-term goal kasi yun and base sa 10 year performance ng fund kuha naman nito yung average return na gusto ko compared to other UITF funds. Sa equity prang di ok ang performace nila over a 10 year period, mas consistent si BDO base sa calculation at research ko.
