If hindi ba naka enroll sa RSP yung investment (BPI equity fund) pwede mag top up manually?

I'm planning to subscribe sa equity fund nila.

Thanks

You can "top up" manually whether or not you're enrolled in RSP.

@ikaela, 49% is the annualized return. 11% is in absolute yield.

They normally annualize to compare it with returns of other deposits and investments which are presented in per annum percentages.

Security bank's 49% last year most probably was annualized too.  :)

@kaiz: That's what I do with BDO Equity Funds :) Wala namang fee pag after a month mo i-redeem.

Money market fund pala yung isa naming account. Gains aren't substantial dahil conservative option ito but it's been a steady increase.

I'm really torn between BPI and SB. Lately I've seen na mas maganda ang BPI compared sa SB pero in the past 5 years nga, mas ok ang SB.

Kung keri lang sana ng budget ko na mag-shell out both for BPI and SB, ginawa ko na!  ;D

I'd go with BPI. SB is in a bad place right now.

Not for someone who's not strong of heart  :P
I'm still adding to my SB Equity fund but I know
it might not pan out in the short term.

May option na binigay sa akin si bpi para ma-cover yung 300k which is to open another account which is BPI Philam, BPI ITF, BPI ITF Get started, or Mag open ako ng BPI Advance sa BPI Family naman. Thanks

BPI Philam lang yata yung may investment diyan and it's VUL?

If it's for emergency like you don't want to risk losing money, Get Started na lang para may insurance.

^

Sis yung existing ko pong account na bpi advance at maxisaver currently under bpi island, then sabi kasi sa akin nung nakausap ko pede raw ako mag open ng new account sa bpi family naman, para another 500k cover ng pdic. So pwede kaya na bpi advance uli pero under naman sya ng bpi family bank medyo mataas kasi yung interest rate ng bpi advance. Or mag open na lang po ako ng account totally different bank like bdo, metrobank etc. Gusto ko sana atleast medyo mataas yung interest rate. Gusto ko ma preserve capital ko. Paano po ba yung ITF GET STARTED, pwede po paki explain. Ano kaya pinaka best na gawin ko?

^ Okay,

(1) Making sure that your deposits in BPI are covered by PDIC is nothing to be concerned about. If a bank as huge and as integral to the Philippine economy as BPI closes down, it has far more worrisome implications. That could mean anything from the Philippine Peso becoming worthless, the economy as a whole going down the drain, and inflation going through the roof. Even if PDIC paid you back 100x your deposit, the money they pay you with could have no value at all. If BPI closes down, your savings will be the least of your worries.

BUT if you really want to, open one single account (any account) in your name, and that will be covered 500k. Open another JOINT account with your anak (any account, ITF, in the same bank), and that will also be fully covered by PDIC.

(2) You say you want to preserve your 800k capital in those accounts, but that money is actually losing purchasing power each year they stay in those accounts. What is their annual interest rate, 0.25%-0.75%? Meanwhile, inflation is at ~4%. Your 800k is earning a measly 6k/year at most in those accounts, but at the same time, it is losing as much as 32k in purchasing power each year. It's like losing 26k each year, just money flushed down the toilet.

(3) If this huge sum of money is your emergency fund -- like, you live a dangerous kind of lifestyle where you see yourself suddenly needing 800k, like RIGHT NOW -- then fine, leave it in those accounts. But understand #2. That 800k now won't be able to buy the same amount of things next year and the years after that.

(4) This is the BPI investments thread and those savings accounts are not investments. If you want to grow instead of just "preserve" that 800k (for anything, really: college fund, car, house, vacation, retirement), then we in this thread can help out.

^the PDIC insurance coverage of up to 500,000 -means a maximum of 500k per person per bank. although BPI and BPI FAmily Bank naman yata are two distinct and separate banks?
