Epidural or Natural birth?

Hi mga sis! Pajoin 😊
im 36 weeks pregnant and nagpplan din magpaEPI. Question, masakit ba yung inject ng needle? Nabasa ko kasi malaki daw 😯

Mas masakit mag labor lol. Masakit yes pero di naman yung iiyak ka or masisipa ka unlike labor. Nagpa sedate ako kasi di ko na kaya mag labor at 3cm, when they finally gave me epid nagising ako when they were inserting the needle.

Natural birth...

Have planned to have epidural before kaya lang sabi ni OB, may possibility na mag relax ang cervix at di mareach yung 10cm. So instead na painless normal delivery ka, baka sa cesarean section ang bagsak mo..

Waaahh... can remember the pain.. sarap sabunutan yung father ng baby ko nun

Im telling you that injection is nothing compared to labor. Its even better that braxton hicks. Ewan im a fan of epid, kung walang epid naka patay na siguro ako.

^ agree. when i was still on duty sa government lying in clinics, mom's have no choice but to delivery naturally. wala painless painless. imagine pati episiotomy (cutting the outer area ng vagina sideways) kapag crowning na si baby, hindi na nila napapansin. walang anesthesia yun. mas masakit daw yung labor than anything else. hehe.

^agree rin ako sis. Mas masakit nga yung active labor compared to delivery itself based sa experience ko mismo. Mejo mataas ata tolerance ko sa pain kasi during labor ko, sabi ng nurse pag umabot ako na 8cm, the pain will be 3x painful. Feel ko naman 2x lang. Well maybe it is just me.

natural birth is better if I will do it all over again, sana tiniis ko na lang iyong sakit, after having epidural kasi iyong heartbeat ng baby ko bumaba kaya kahit nag 10 cm ako, na caesarian pa din ako.

Epid definitely! Nagmamakaawa na ko for epid at 4cm haha. Pano ba naman every 2 mins na contractions ko.

If you have a contraction while they are administering the local anesthesia then you won't feel a thing! My contraction hurt more than the injection and I only felt something ticklish when they were inserting the spinal cathether. Then I remember feeling like ice was running down my spine and relief from pain! I would get an epidural again in a heartbeat and definitely planning one for my second baby

With epid ako with my panganay then "natural" (di ko ito planado) with my bunso. Between the two,mas pleasant ang experience ko sa una.di na ko uulit if ever na wala epid.

^pwede kasi may catheter na nakainsert na sa spine pag naka epidural ka kaya bigay nalang ng bigay ng gamot sayo pag need mo pero syempre depende sa interval i think, and ang alam ko additional sa bill kasi kung kulang sayo isang dose ng gamot, babayaran mo pa din yung susunod na dose mo... yun ang alam ko ah. 
Ako. i want to go natural din kaya lang sobrang baba ng pain treshhold ko. namumutla ako tapos lightheadedness na ewan, ganon ako sa dysmenorrhea pano pa sa labor pains! Basta hanggat kaya kong tiisin go ako, pero kung hindi talaga ayoko na ipilit baka himatayin pa ko hehe

Epid for me too. Wala ako na-feel kahit yung paginject ng lidocaine (local anes) before the spinal catheter hindi ko na-feel. Siguro magaling din yung anesthesiologist ko. Mas nasaktan pa ako sa paginject ng para sa dextrose kasi residente yung gumawa. Around 5 to 6 cm na ako nung nilagyan ng epid pero nagprogress pa din ang labor ko. Mas mahirap lang talaga umire kasi wala ako mafeel sa baba pero worth it pa din magpalagay ng epid. More than 24 hours ang induced labor ko so nung pwede na ako magpalagay ng epid grabeng relief talaga naramdaman ko.

would like to check if this thread is still alive.

I'm just 14 weeks pregnant already considering if I will be doing the natural or the ones with epidural. The reason why I wanted to opt for natural are the following:
1. I have phobia sa hospitals/doctors at lalo na ng mga equipments nila - growing up, hindi ako sakitin kaya I rarely visit hospitals at rarely din ako matusok tusok ng mga gamit nila.
2. Iniisip ko palang sasaksakan ang injection sa spinal cord natataranta na ko. I feel like it will stress me  out more. Meron bang anes na hindi sa spinal cord?

I have a few questions din:
1. pwede ba manganak ng hindi ka nakahiga? - gusto ko kasi gumalaw galaw at sabi nila gravity is your best friend to speed up childbirth.
2. Dun sa mga nag normal devilery here, gano po kayo katagal sa labor stage and pushing stage?

I have a fear of needles and hospitals as well. I was never hospitalized prior to giving birth so you can imagine my apprehension in getting an epidural. Honestly shen you are having strong contractions , you won't feel the prick of the local anesthesia or the insertion of the catheter for the epidural. My iv line hurt more pa nga.

As for giving birth-my ob would allow me to walk around the labor ward in early labor-gravity helps dilate the cervix. If you wanna give birth in a position aside from lying down-you can talk to your ob about it. I gave my ob that feedback as well so for my 2nd pregnancy, they gad me in a semi-sitting position. I thought it helped a lot, though unfortunately i ended up with an emergency cs

Meron anesthesia na hindi sa spinal cord tinuturok. each anesthesia has different pros and cons. read books or search the internet about them. some kasi have an effect on baby whether she would be awake when she comes out or not. This is important if you are planning to breastfeed as soon as baby comes out.

1. yes. but this depends on your OB. I've heard an OB who agreed to have a mother give birth on all fours.

2. for my first born, 6 hours ang labor ko. pushing is about 30 minutes to 1 hours siguro. you won't be pushing until you are 10 cms dilated.

I would suggest attending a childbirth class para mas madami ka matutunan about giving birth naturally.

I've never been hospitalized before I gave birth before. Pero mataas naman ang pain tolerance ko.

Thanks for this! sabi nga din ng mom ko when she gave birth to me at 24y.o hindi sya nahirap, tho masakit but supr sakit diko na daw iisipin yun at gusto ko nalang mailabas ang baby. Honestly hindi nakatulong. haha parang mas natakot ako.

I still dont have an OB na nag settle ako kaya searching pa ko. Sana yung next mag click na kami.

thanks also for answering! I am searching for chidlbirth classes, kaso mejo nahihirapan ako mag hanap. hehe.

Ang bilis mo naman manganak, sana ako din. Nag epidural ka a or natural birth? if nag epi ka at what cm mo na hindi kinaya ang pain?

Kung possible lang na mag waterbirth at homebirth baka mas pilin ko pa yun naiistress talaga ako sa hospitals.
