US TV: The Strain

My husband and I got hooked on this new show. It's based on G. del T***'s and C. Hogan's novel, also called, The Strain.

From IMDB: A thriller that tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers, wage war for the fate of humanity itself.

^you are right about episode 2. In episode 3, they are still introducing the backgrounds of the other characters like the rat exterminator. We just have to sit through them and hopefully everything will make sense.

Sinusubaybayan ko ito!  Maganda yung latest episode (episode 7) kasi merong mga "good vampires."  Pinapatay nila ang mga kapwa nila na kumakain ng tao.  Not sure kung aware si Abraham Setrakian sa kanila.  Naiintrigga tuloy ako sa mga ito.

Nakakairita na ang pagiging skeptical ni Ephraim ha?!  I like Vasiliy.  Maton na may puso.

I love this show it's like TWD pero this time it's about vampires.

What I love about this show too is ang vampires dito eh hinde yung tipong gwapo like what you see on true blood/the vampire diaries dito talagang nakakatakot ang itsura what a vampire should really look like terrifying and creepy.

I started watching this show, it was recommended by my sister. This isn't really my kind of series cause it's too scary for me. It's not the typical bite on the neck kind of vampire, it's a bit freakier than that. I like Vasiliy din, sa tingin ko his character is very useful and I hope his character doesn't die too soon in the show.

it really is scary... I LOVE it!!!

I'm also interested sino yung "good" vampires... how can they resist the urge and bakit hindi sila connected sa Master? Diba the Master can communicate to the rest of the vampires? Di nya nauutusan itong mga good vampires kaya?

He he.  Marami rin na pala watching this nice TV series.  Won't give spoilers muna as read the book already - well, some of it.  Mas maganda ang pace - for me - itong sa TV than the book.  Books actually kasi 3 sila.

Naiba lang a bit some parts but I guess that's how it should be para hindi naman boring - the same as how it is sa The Walking Dead.

Ano na kaya nangyari dun sa mga "good" vampires? Are they really good? And ano kaya mangyayari kay Kelly?

I haven't read the book pero nagsearch ako online, meron daw half vampire? I'm not sure kung sila yung good vampires and I'm not really sure how credible wikipedia is.  medyo na bore ako sa last episode parang bitin. 3 books pala talaga toh, The Strain is the first book, correct me if I'm wrong. Yung rockstar, I think magiging host body siya ng master? Kasi out of the 4 survivors, siya lang nabuhay sa kanila.

There's a comic and book version.  Hindi ko nga lang alam kung may lumabas na bagong comic na as the first book pa lang ata natapos sa comic version.

Ha ha.  Tinamad ako basahin much yun book and simply read some parts.  Hindi ko na lang muna i-reveal some points.

Yup, may seemingly mga good vampires rin.  And may mga new types pa na lalabas - per the book.  May clue naman na sa TV version as sinabi what is presently encountered yun parang mga bagong naging strigoi lang.  So they will be a bit different once they mature (?)

sa mga nababasa ko na articles online hindi daw closely followed yung book. ano ba mas maganda yung series or yung story line sa books?

Mali pala ako as yun comic version ay doon na sa 3rd book sila.  Hindi ko nga lang alam kailan naglalabas nun. 

Sa book kasi for me parang mabagal though syempre mas detailed.  True na hindi nga tulad sa book yun TV version.  I opine worth it to read and watch this.

Ohhh The Strain, you had so much promise.

Coming from the mind of Guillermo del T***, I was so excited about this show. Sobrang bagong take on the whole vampire/zombie lore that we got used to from mainstream media. However, the succeeding episodes were just full of stupid decisions from the characters. Like Dr E, not listening to the old man, the hacker girl being all annoying. Sayang cuz i love the "science" behind the virus and ways to kill it. Di lang nila nasustain via storytelling
