littlekinselle, do you have a budget in mind? A 2ct diamond with decent (but not top-notch) specs should cost at least P400-450k.

^Talaga? Our jeweler told us before a decent 1 carat with 18k band would be around 400k and a great one might even reach 600k.. HK gold, HK-made. I would think the 2-carat might reach 800k-1M, perhaps more.

Check out Orogem in the Podium. They have rings in this range.. 1.3-2+ carats. Pero local gold lang.

sparklingjewel, I was thinking about the lowest possible specs at which you might find a decent stone from an overseas dealer (SI1, I/J colour) since littlekinselle seemed to be looking for a deal. But you're right, a VS stone in the F/G/H range would definitely cost much more!

nasa 150-200k is okay.. iniisip ko kung worth it isuot ang 2c. ring araw araw.. diba hassel?. nag Pm ako kay Meicel and diamond with love. wala pang reply..

i dont have any knowledge in diamond as long as is true is okay.. yung flaws naman di naman makikita ata in naked eye?... wag naman msyado clear haha..  ;)baka ma clear din ang pocket ko. hahaha

littlekinselle, unfortunately I don't think that's a realistic budget for a 2ct diamond. Even a stone with really bad specs and visible flaws would cost well over 200k at that size.

i agree. Baka wala pa half carat makuha mo pag ganyan budget. Saka kapag 2c pag mga H or I onwards na, kitang kita ko na yellowish na yung stone. Swerte ko lang si ex fiance now husband ko, gusto nya colorless. Mine's F 1.++c. Try mo magcheck sa mga stores and sa fairs para makita mo din in person, ang laki talaga ng 1-2c. Usually 1M na pag nasa 1c dito (pero good specs yun) ☺️

sis littlekinselle i doubt that your budget would permit you to get a 2ct ring. i agree with sevenstars. i think ang kayang bilhin ng budget mo is 1ct with decent specs but mamamaximize talaga ang budget mo. our jeweller is Meicel. Very nice and accomodating si Meicel and her husband, you may want to check them out. tell them I referred you para theyll give  you discounts. We got my engagement ring and our wedding rings from them

Sis littlekinselle i don't think a 2-carat diamond ring with very poor quality will be a good investment. With a 200k budget, the specs might be so poor that it's not sparkly, yellowish, and with black spots visible to the naked eye. A guy friend of mine proposed with a 1.5 carat quality diamond and he spent more than 1M for it. Saka diba, you wouldn't be as proud naman of a really flawed diamond.. usually the people who know how to admire jewelry also know a good one from a bad one.

I've seen some huge-stoned engagement rings but the diamond doesn't sparkle to the point it seems hindi na diamond

Since you're spending for it, might as well get good quality. Either save up or go for styles that can enhance the size like type of cut, setting, or maybe having halo/s?

I assure you, the sparkle is worth it I've gotten from Meicel too where the price is affordable and quality is good. I keep staring at it even if the diamond's fire hurts my eyes

The diamond industry has really sold the idea of the diamond's 3Cs, carat size, at least 2x the h2b salary etc. A diamond ring esp for engagement will never be an investment imo. Why? Because chances of you selling it is extremely low. The sentimental value behind it will hold us back for selling it. Besides it will always be lower that the price we paid if we sell it because we might just be selling it because we are in desperate need of money.

i had my engagement ring from a nice shop, quite small .3x carat, triple excellent, E color, VVS2, in perfect hearts and arrows shape, with lumiere/gia certifications. paid around 70k+ for it . It's nice, its beautiful really, my fiance loves it until she knows how much is it accidentally and she doesnt want to wear it anymore in public transport hehe. Perhaps should have bought a cheaper one, besides she doesn't know anything about diamonds

Sometimes nagjojoke lang kami ni husband na ibenta na lang my 1M++ e-ring pag may gusto ako like new bag or pag gusto ko daw ng 2 carat. Hehe

Agree on this. I also asked it from the Jewelry Investment thread here how you can sell it at a higher price to say it is an investement.

But will still buy Justification na lang din siguro because most women really love bling hehe.

It's like RTW vs MTO and jewelry stores naman will sell the items they have on display. I've never gone to a store na hindi ibebenta yung available rings nila. It's just a matter of finding one with your available size and preferred style, like shopping for clothes

aj_qt18, my ring has a laser engraving on the inside and it's 18k rose gold, so I don't think that's true!
