Are You Obssessed Sa Pagpapaputi?

No, I am not obsessed with skin whitening because I have other obsessions (maintaining clear skin, preventing wrinkles, etc.).

But I don't have a problem with people who are so-called obsessed.  It's their money. It's their skin. As long as they're not hurting other people, why not? There are far worse obsessions to be worried about.

Actually, pansin ko din yan here in GT. All kinds of whitening is discussed making it the majority topic thread in LPP.

Funny lang that I read comments that people whiten their skin to look "clean", "fresh", etc. but when you go to western countries, everybody is crazy getting tanned and ditching the lighter skin tone. being tan equates to being fresh, healthy, and glowing.

I think this is a mentality of the grass is greener on the other side which was also hyped up by the media.

Are you? Why? I cannot count the number of whitening related topics here, gluta, whitenig makeup, lotion, etc. I realized then that filipinas are obssessed with whitening. Is this the standard of beauty now? Not the shape of the eyes, lips, cheeks etc?

Gumaganda ba talaga pag pumuputi "unnaturally"? Idk if it's just me or may similar looks ang mga naggluta...

nope. mahal eh saka tamad ako. i'm not that maputi. pero wala naman akong gustong mangyari sa balat ko.

as for gumaganda ba talaga 'pag maputi--i must admit, mas napapalingon ako 'pag maputi...when i'm in The Philippines. i don't know bakit haha. siguro kasi nga yun ang konti. but i've encountered a lot of beautiful women where i am who are very, very dark but really, terribly stunning to the point na ayoko ng maging babae kasi ang pangit pangit ko compared to them lol.

Maputi na ako, but I want "fairer" feet, elbows and knees. I've tried exfoliating and moisturizing and minimizing exposure of these areas to the sun but still haven't gotten my desired effect (nag-lighten na naman, but I think pwedeng pumuti ng konti pa -- yes, I'm obsessed!). So now I'm on the hunt for a really, really good whitening product, or if all else fails, sa spa ko na lang ipapagawa.

Yes, I have to admit that before, obsessed talaga ako sa pagpapaputi dahil siyempre, my mom is really fair-skinned--which is actually a very recessive trait in my family. No kidding, gusto ko talaga ma-achieve ang kaputian ni Lucy Torres. My skin tone actually makes me dugyutin, TBH. As in, mas maganda pa ang kutis ng insan ko--like kutis-tanso pero makinis.

If obsession is something like kahit magkano pa yan bibilhin ko pumuti lang ako, then my answer is yes. I only want pantay na color sana. Pero di pa naman ako umaabot sa mga injections at magtake ng whitening capsules. Hanggang sabon pa lang

Totoo sabi ng ibang sisses natin. Wala namang problema kung "obsessed" sa whitening ang isang tao. As long as di sila nakakasakit and di nagddrugs and other worse "obsessions".

Ang tretinoin, TCA, Laser and Diamond peel, Power Peel, Peeling oils, Rejuvenating sets, Local Obagi set, Body scrubs even Foot Spa na nagppeel ng skin and/or nagtatanggal ng dead cells considered ba na whitening?

Also please stop comparing na sa ibang bansa gusto nila skin na tanned while here we want lighter. In their side of the globe kasi di ganun kalakas ang rays ng sun and di rin madaling magtan ang skin nila. We on the other hand, nasa equator tayo and nakakasunog talaga. It doesn't help na madali rin tayo magtan. Yun lang naman. Peace!

Don't generate hate sissies. Kung nagswimming sila at nangitim and want to go back to their original color or lighter asap, let them be. Probably alam nilang iitim sila pero syempre minsan lang ang swimming right? You'll miss out on the bonding and fun kung di ka sasama diba? There are girls who are okay with tans/ tan lines but there are some who don't like the long tan gloves look. RESPECT!

I agree with you sis, at saka di naman majority ng lahat ng mga Americans gusto tan same as tayo mga pinoy di lahat din gusto maputi Japan and Korean and some part of US malamig talaga, depende sa weather din.

On the medical and most important side, and different conclusion from above, the more na di dapat magpa puti ang mga tao dito because one would be susceptible to skin cancer kung magpapaputi. Lessened ang melanin, which is the body's protection from the harsh uv rays of the sun. UVB rays actually penetrate glass and clouds kaya kahit cloudy or under the shade e pwede pa din kaya there is a reason why biologically, mas maitim ang mga tao sa malapit sa equator.

I might say yes. I'm currently taking gluta capsules and now i'm on my second week and last month nag try ako mag diy using yellow peeling oil fair naman ang skin tone ko the problem is di sya pantay saka gusto ko makinis kasi ang mosquito bites sa legs ko nag dark then scar na. super inggit ako sa mga nakikita ko sa mall na naka shorts at dresses lang ang effortless mag ayos pag maganda ang kutis.

Akala niyo lang mga maiitim lang naookray, but in Western eyes I am aesthetically inferior.
