Is infant on lap safe for international flight?

You mentioned on the other thread that you are flying with PAL. If memory serves me correct, they don't have infant seatbelts. And they will not provide you with a bassinet based sa age/weight ni baby. If you are travelling on your own, I would suggest na piliin mo yung flight na hindi puno para ma-i-block yung seat next to you.

Are you travelling business class or economy? Kung biz class via PAL, the seat does not fully recline so di mo maihihiga si baby pag nakatulog na. Which means that for the full 20 hours, hawak mo si baby, whereas kung nasa economy kayo at walang tao sa tabi mo, you can lift the armrest and ihiga si baby sa lap mo/next seat. Makakapahinga ang mga arms mo, at makaka kain ka din, and you will be free to move about/take stuff from your bag etc. The only remaining problem is how do you go to the lavatory when the need arises? My experience is that mababait naman ang mga FA ng PAL, they'll be happy to look after your daughter while you go pee - although I must admit I've never traveled (nor will I be brave enough) to travel on my own with the baby.

Sis matagal tagal yung 20 hours. Baka di maging comfortable si baby pati ikaw. I used to fly na may infant din na kasama. But it was domestic and Asia lang. So mabilis lang.

ang fear ko is baka hindi mag-stay si baby sa car seat nya at kandungin ko rin the entire flight..... and yung passenger in front magreklamo na hindi nya ma-recline yung seat nya

Call the travel agent/PAL/ticketing office to make sure that they reserve the front row/bassinet seats para wala kang kaharap na seats. Your baby will have an infant ticket anyway, just make sure they assign you and the baby sa seats na walang kaharap, may legroom. They usually give priority to passengers with children/infants/toddlers for these seats anyway.

search in youtube PAL flight related videos..and I think yung car seat namin is hindi kasya sa economy seat as I need to install rear facing...if sa bulkhead seat ko naman lagay problem is on width.....google ko bulkhead seat and immovable ang arm rest....haist....

Weird naman yang tinawagan mo - I would've thought passengers with infants/toddlers get the front row seats priority, especially since you're paying for an infant ticket as well. I've never experienced being charged extra for getting the front row seats when traveling with the baby. Most of the time the travel agent mismo ang nagrereserve ng seats para sa akin, pero for good measure tinatawagan ko pa ang airline mismo para i-confirm ang seat assignment at ang meals (especially baby meals). In my experience ako pa nga ang natanggal sa bulkhead on a business trip dahil daw may passenger with infant (okay lang, kasi na-upgrade ako - heehee).

^hi bylan when we travelled din via PAL last year I remembered na binayaran namin yung charge for the bulkhead seat kahit may kasama kaming baby if I remember correctly parang meron silang condition para hindi yun bayaran. Pero urgent [textspeak!] yung flight namin nun kung baga we booked the flight today tapos tomorrow yung travel nun. So hindi na namin kinontest yung bayad. Tapos yung flight na nasakyan namjn sobrang hindi puno at mas convenient pa yung hindi bulkseat [textspeak!] yung plane na nasakyan namin pwede mong itaas yung armrest sa middle seats area so lumipat din kami. In the end hindi kami umupo sa bulk seat hehe

Sis, my baby first traveled when she was a year old and di naman sya makulit or irritable kasi 4 hours lang yun. Sa lap ko lang sya. Minsan sa lap ni hubby. Hindi rin kasi mainipin si baby sa mahabang byahe kaya tolerable yung flight.

Kung mainipin baby mo sis don't forget to bring toys or books kung mahilig sya magtingin sa pictures. Mas maganda din kung malapit kayo sa toilet kasi for sure mag-poop si baby mo sa haba ng byahe nyo hehe.

As far as I know, mothers traveling with infants can sit in the first row without any fees (in the economy section). This was what I remembered before specially with PAL where they have the business class section in front of you so there's no issue with being in the front exit rows.

It's going to be crazy flying with a baby on long-haul flights in the economy seats. Nangarag ako when we went to Australia, an overnight flight. Good thing the row we sat on, and it was the middle aisle so there were 4 seats, was free so my baby and I were able to stretch. It wasn't the best position but better than sitting and holding her in my arms the whole flight.

Lap should be no issue. Convenience is another.
