An Open Letter from the Legal Wife
« on: June 10, 2014, 03:01:11 pm »
To my Unfaithful Husband

I’ve spent the last couple of months crying about what happened to us. That’s all I do but today I woke up suddenly sick of both, crying and missing the old "us". It is what prompted me to think a bit clearer.

I had my faults as much as you had yours. I don’t know, though, if I can say that yours weigh more than mine. I also know for sure that at this point, it doesn’t matter anymore. What matters more to me are the things that I learned because of everything that happened.

For me, 2 months is more than enough for being silent and waiting in vain.

Naisip ko pareho tayo ng nararamdaman, pero pareho din natin di maisigaw that our relationship is not working, and it hasn’t worked for a long time. In fact, rather than strengthening our lives, it just weighs us down and makes our lives more difficult. How many times have we decided to kiss and make up only to find ourselves battling the same demons once again?

Kahapon nagsimula ako gumawa ng list ng mga issues natin sa isat isa but then I realized it’s just a waste of time. I came to the conclusion that no one is at fault. We are simply two different personalities who have tried to make a relationship work and just couldn’t do it. This brings me to one of the hardest decisions of my life—I’ve got to move on.

I’m setting you free.

Lastly, I want to thank you for everything. Not everything was bad. I want to think that all the bad thrown together will never measure to the half of the good we shared.  Believe it or not, I do wish you well and I really do hope that someday we could be friends. I can’t do it now but maybe someday.

Finally, I am going to do what you had done even before we separated, I am moving on. Goodbye.

With love still,
Me

CABBAGEPATCH.  I will pray the Holy Spirit gives you clarity of mind & strength.

Yes, you must gather yourself, find yourself again.  It is what is best for you.

    "You are blessed.
No matter what you are going through now, know that God is already causing all these to work together for your own good.

so sorry to know that you're going through this situation right now sis. I still believe that there's a happy ending to every marriage. hopeless romantic lang siguro ako.  have you tried reading Secrets of Fascinating Womanhood? try reading it baka lang naman makatulong. you have kids. I don't think it's fair for them to have a broken family. kung pwede pang maayos, try nyo pang ayusin. pero kung talagang hindi na kayang i-salvage yung marriage nyo at puro kayo away, siguro mas mabuti na rin yung maghiwalay para sa ikatatahimik ng lahat.

Every woman is endowed with a certain strength no man can achieve. sa panganganak pa lang, hindi na nila kayang i-tolerate yung pain. babae lang ang may kaya nun. :) all I'm trying to say is, you have the strength to either stay or walk away.

I wish you all the best sis. kaya mo yan.  :)

Life is short to be sad for a relationship that brings out the worst in you. Life has to move on. God be with you, sis.

^ Agree.

TS, good luck!  Ang tapang mo sis, less than a year, nakapagdecide ka na agad.  I wish you all the best!

I still believe that there's a happy ending to every marriage. hopeless romantic lang siguro ako.

10 years or so. Hanggang sa nagsawa nako. And I kinda regret leaving the marriage late kasi I could have had more happier memories if I left earlier.

Sometimes (not all the time), some marriage are really not meant to be. Kaya yung "happy ending" mo to every marriage - that's true!  Ang happy ending namin is annulment.  ;D

nanghingi sya ng sorry sabi mo dun sa isang thread mo. that means he wants to move on with you and start all over again. but why did he chose to cheat again? and did you ask him the reason why he cheated in the first place?

I feel like something is not adding up.

Anuman ang ginawa ng babae, it does not justify the guy to cheat.

The husband of TS is just plainly a cheater. Period. I think it is very unfair to tell women na naloko ng asawa nila na sila ang may kasalanan - or implying ano ang ginawa nila for their husbands to have an affair.

I don't mean to justify the cheating. justifying is when you give reasons to make it look like the deed is okay or right. in this case, I just wanted to know what made him cheat again. paano nya nasabing ayaw na nya at hindi na nya kayang maging asawa si ts?

a matured man wouldn't do something without a reason. valid man o hindi, still may rason sila. and I didn't mean to make it look like kasalanan ni ts kung bakit nag-cheat ang asawa nya at naulit pa. but sometimes, may nagagawa tayong nagtutulak sa kanila para mangaliwa. maaaring may kasalanan si misis or she just simply paved the way for him to cheat. most women find it hard to accept this but it's a fact. we have to be open-minded to be able to understand why men do what they do.

^ you know, i used to think the way you do. that the cheatee (?) can push the cheater to cheat. then i got this series of chismis from reliable sources who told me about this Pinoy celeb couple wherein the guy who is believed to be faithful is cheating on his wife. and i'm like, eff, if i'm married to that woman, wtf do i have to complain about???!?? and it's not just them. you hear stories about women who sacrifice a lot and who do everything for their families yet their husbands still cheat on them. the nerve of these guys.

louis ck on his bit on snl said something that stuck: "i don't necessarily believe that women are better than men. but i think men are worse than women." he said it in reflection of how men are always trying to remove themselves from any blame. and it's true. we always blame the woman because we perpetuate the notion na "babae ang nagdadala ng relationship" as if she alone wanted it. as if every woman who was ever married put a gun to a man's head and demanded marriage and kids.

not to turn this into a whole women vs men bit but this is present in every discussion: men are more rational than women. men are more intelligent. blah blah. there's even a thread here about who's better-a male or a female boss? and the resounding response is that men are better because they make quick decisions and are less emotional.

a word to that: it is true that men are quick in making decisions. but a lot of that has to do with the fact that men were brought up to take risks. but quick decisions aren't necessarily BETTER, MORE RATIONAL decisions. and i think that explains too why men are more prone to cheat than women. it's that impulsiveness. it's that short-range thinking and risky maneuvers they're prone to, that makes them bad decision makers. affairs don't just happen. i don't know if anyone has ever timed it but even one night stands take awhile to happen. it takes what, approximately, 20 minutes and a multitude of moments to take a step back from a highly sexual and enticing situation and say, this is crazy, i'm not doing this. in short, there are many chances for a man to walk away but because they're not thinking ahead, they believe in instant gratification, they don't.

and i realized that all this talk about how women are to be blamed about their cheating husbands--it's all just a product of our biased, highly patriarchal views about the world. if you're a woman, wala ka talagang malugaran. you can't be too successful, you can't be too dependent, you can't be too nice, you can't be too tough, you can't be too beautiful, you can't be too ugly, you can't be too fat, too skinny. we've forced women to think that they are walking on a tightrope in marriage and relationships. one mistake and you're out.

but it shouldn't be that way. it doesn't have to be. because it isn't. think about it--dissatisfied husbands have a lot of options in pissing their wives off that are far more creative and are less costly, less damaging. in the future, guys, some suggestions:

1. throw away her jewelry. worse, give them to your relatives you know for a fact she doesn't like.
2. sell her designer bags on ebay. (eto talaga no, giyera.)
3. go on a trip with your kids to her favorite place in the world without her.
4. destroy her china
5. don't do chores
6. complain about her mother
7. if she asks you if she's fat, take a really long time to respond. maybe even look at her first.

there are a lot of ways to say, f*ck you, wife! without necessarily f*cking everyone up. and you have to know this, after a while. that's the point of marriage, right? knowing how to tick off someone. ;D

but why a lot of men go down this route? why is that the chosen form of escape, of retribution? i don't know. but i'm tempted to believe that for as long as we encourage men to be men who use women like toys, who have a right to be angry when they are not getting sex; men who divide women into two-the ones you marry and the ones you just f*ck; men who think they have a right to retreat to their lesser nature whenever they're dissatisfied; men whose expectations from marriage go like this: woman! spread legs, have babies, clean up after me, rinse, repeat;  men who associate being a man with being a brute-- then this cycle of infidelity, of broken, angry people, will not stop.

mooncake and leaves, I admire you for giving out a very womanly view about relationships and cheating.

but this I tell you, if you could look through a man's eye you would find his view of a woman is very different from your own. men do not see and think as a woman same as a woman can never walk in a man's shoe. it may seem like I'm defending men but for me, I'm just being open-minded.

with all the rant we give out everyday about men, because we think they don't understand us, isn't it maybe we women are the ones who don't understand men? men are the simplest creatures here on earth and yet they are the most misunderstood.

siguro nga, babae talaga ang nagdadala ng isang relasyon. not all things are created equal in this world and we have to accept that.

only the husband can tell if the woman he married is a good wife; not the in-laws, not the kids, not the neighbors and certainly not their friends. so we are actually not in the position to say "sh1t, kung ako ang napangasawa ng babaeng yan, hindi ako magloloko." you'll never know until you're in the situation.

I don't believe that men are worse than women. because even women are now capable of cheating. there are wives who don't appreciate the hardwork of their husbands, who belittles him in front of his friends and her relatives, who put him down when the woman is earning more than he is, women who talk him down when he's not able to do chores at home, wives who complain about his low salary and shuts his husband out and avoids intimacy because of her husband's shortcomings. where does the husband go from there?

men can come up with so many reasons why they cheat. but most of the time, they cheat because what's happening at home isn't happening like it used to.

men don't cheat because of impulsiveness. anyone can be impulsive, which is why there are too many cases of unplanned pregnancies. :) men are not short-range thinkers because if they are, every wife would have known about the cheating after 1 day. they conceptualize, they plan, they think ahead. and this explains why they lie about the whole thing and why some men can get away with cheating.

when a man is trapped in a steamy situation, everything becomes a blur especially if what he's being offered at that moment is not offered at home. you know why? because love and sex are two different things for them. but my dad once told me that if a man is full, he will no longer eat whatever you put on his plate. it doesn't matter if you cooked that food.

I don't blame women for all the times that a man cheats because again, the husband's reason could be something else. but we have to look into that tiny possibility that maybe, just maybe, we did something or there's something we are not doing that pushed him to cheat.

in a man's world, you can be anyone. it don't matter if you're fat or thin, successful and independent or if you're driving the latest bmw car model. he can put up with anything especially when you've been like that since he met you. he will be happy for you, will be proud of you even. how you treated him and how your attitude affects him would be a different story.

your suggestions of how husbands can piss off their wives are really creative but, it's a waste of time and they're not gonna get something out of it. a man is likely to do things if he knows he can get something out it, something that would gratify him. only a gay person (not trying to offend gay people, I love them  :D ) would do those things because those acts are very womanly. and about not doing chores? that's not their priority. so they won't do it unless you tell them to do so. and would take them a day to finally get up and do the chores. :) they don't intend to piss their wives off, it's just that men are not programmed to do household chores since boyhood.

so why do men cheat? because they can and they think they can get away with it. most especially, they know that there are women out there who's willing to cheat with them.

a man would use a woman like a toy only if she lets him. men have all the right to be angry if they can't get sex from their wives without a valid reason because they need it. it is how they emotionally connect with the woman they love. who else would they get it from? if you're not gonna give it and you're not sick or pregnant (heck even pregnant couples still make love) , don't be mad if he fvcks someone else because again, sex and love are two different things for them. :)
men classify women into two categories: the keeper and the throwback because in reality, these women exists. a woman will not be the marrying type unless she shows him that she is.

there is no antidote or cure to stop cheating but we can somehow minimize it. they key is in our hands. sounds like a big responsibility? well, it is what it is and until everyone accepts this fact, I think this is the only time that cheating can be minimized.  :D
