I'll share lifestyle changes I made to save more money. These changes save me around P12k a month at least, I believe.

1. I pack my own lunch. Usually naman sa office too busy rin, so I work through lunch. Pag nagkaka-yayaan lumabas with officemates, I just order dessert (kasi nakain ko na lunch ko).

*I spend my Saturdays cooking big batches of food to last me the entire week. Nilalagay ko na yan sa containers labeled Monday, Tuesday, Wedesday... so I just grab them and go. Healthy pa. I used to eat out all the time, spending an average of 300 per meal.

2. I brew my own coffee. Addict ako dati sa CBTL/Starbucks until I realized I was spending 4k a month on coffee! So now I brew my own in the morning.

3.  I downgraded to a cheaper cable plan. Dati 1k+ monthly. Now yung pinaka-basic na lang. Sa gabi lang naman ako nanonood.

4. Cancelled my gym membership. I just run around BGC now. If I dont feel like running, I do DVD workouts/yoga in my condo. Hindi na kailangan ng gym.

i got new tip from you. gagawin ko na rin yun labeling of my lunch box for a week. usually kasi di na ako makapagbaon dahil wala na ako maisip na pwede baunin everyday. anyway thanks for the advice

Some lunch ideas:

1. Adobo and brown rice. Adobo keeps really well in the fridge. Habang tumatagal, sumasarap :) Pati brown rice ko, I cook a big batch then refrigerate.

2. Whole wheat sandwiches. I buy healthy hams/sausages from the deli section of the grocery. Or yung dory fish fillet. I pre-cook them na pag Saturday. I also pre-slice my tomatoes, greens, etc. I just assemble my sandwich in the morning -- as in I just stuff everything in the whole wheat sandwich or baguette then go na, kahit pangit itsura.

3. Wraps. You can pre-cook slices of chicken breast pag weekend, then freezer mo. Pre-slice your bell pepper, mangoes, or whatever else you want to put in your pita wrap.  Assemble in the morning and go.

Tapos just heat everything in the office. Malamamg may microwave naman sa pantry.

on commuting... pag yung commute nyo requires you to ride a tricycle pa or pedicab skip that. try walking nalang kung 30-40 minutes lang naman na walk at kung di pa naman mega madilim.

agree din ako sa bringing your own food.

invest in a water bottle yung non spill. tapos bring it with you sa work, sa mall (kunwari kakain kayo sa restaurant you can ask them naman to fill it for you filtered naman ang water nila. or sa food court i refill nyo duon para di na kayo bili water sa mall pag nauhaw kayo)

bring only enough money (with little extra lang..) pag papasok ng work/school. don't bring your credit cards/atms para forced kayo to spend within your means

create a budget monthly, tapos write your daily expenses para kita nyo san talaga napupunta pera nyo

1. Bring baon sa work. For lunch and snacks
2. Envelope system sa mga expenses.
3. Ilista ang mga bibilhin when going to grocery to avoid buying things na hindi kailangan.
5. Mag set ng acceptable budget for leisure. But now I have a budget, we just stick to it. Pag naubos na allotted budget for the month, eh di hindi na kami lalabas :D
6. Discipline talaga ang kailangan. Delayed gratification din

1. Cook at home and avoid eating out. Save me and bf a lot of money. Average namin kasi is mga 300 din per eat out.

2. Pag dating sahod, kaltas kaagad mga: emergency fund savings, investments, healthcare contribution, pang stocks. Hehe.

3. Joining contests for our fun and entertainment. I am a huge fun of Nuffnang and I always get free movies for two. So yun na ginagamit namin ni bf pang sine. hehe. :D

4. Iwas shopping. Lol.

5. Aside from savings, I get sidelines. Hehe. Online. Dagdag din sa mga gastusin.

-a week before pay day, i already think of my expenses and calculate din. house rental, water, electricity, net and phone plan, then i will add extra 2k for that. for example my monthly expenses would be 5k, i add 2k so i will withdraw 7k. yung excess na yun would be for my food na. so kung 10k monthly income ko, i can already save almost half kasi pagdating ng katapusan, i am expecting something pa, hindi ko na siya magagalaw. for any excess, sa bank lang, payment for my insurance and also in stock market and my 3 uitf.

-i don't buy branded clothes as much as possible. if may magustuhan ako, kung kayang hindi bilhin, hindi ko siya bibilhin. discipline lang. i buy most of the time in ukay and most of my shoes are from payless except for my running shoes LOL. pero pag sale siyempre, i buy branded ones haha!  ;D

-i redeem points from sm advantage card and globe. minsan order ako fast food or get movie tickets with these.

-siguro gawa na din ng work and sched ko pero oftentimes brunch ako. pero pag di talaga carry ng sched, late lunch will do, pero hindi na ko nagdidinner kasi pagod na pag uwi ko, i will buy fruits na lang. but i don't deprive myself when it comes to food. whenever i crave for something, i make sure that i buy it. super tipid galore na nga ako, gugutumin ko pa sarili ko? yun na ang reward ko for myself for my hardwork. i mean, i work to eat. ok lang kung hindi ako makapag luho pero kakain ako ng gusto ko.  ;)

iisip pa ako.  :P

I stopped reading fashion magazines. I have subscriptions to glamour, lucky, vogue, etc. but i dont read any of them anymore. It's a big temptation kasi. I realized that i have so many stuff in my closets that i dont use.

Recently overhauled my budget and here are some ways I was able to cut back:

1. Experimented with cheaper diapers and found out baby was also hiyang with a lower-cost brand.
2. Found out that Internet providers are now offering the same mbps speed for a lower price, so had my plan re-categorized. This shaved more than P1000 off my internet bill.
3. Reassessed our mobile phone usage, and found out that we had more Smart/TNT/Sun contacts. So we switched to Smart from Globe, and easily saved about P1000 a month on cellphone bills. May free phone pa.
4. For short-distance trips and quick errands, I only drive a motorcycle. Tipid na sa gas, ambilis pa i-park.

I also like to comb the internet for deals on everything -- plane tickets, accommodations, clothes, makeup, baby stuff, gadgets, food, etc. I take advantage of sites offering free shipping like Lazada. Hehe. Para hindi rin punta ng punta sa parlor, I do my own nails, hair trim, waxing/shaving, etc.

like ko yung tip ni sis m_lim re: food posted on social media at "it" bags. Thumbs up sa akin yan. Madalas kasi sa social media nagsisimula ang artificial needs or more wants natin. Hehe

aside from all mentioned here, eto naman ang ginagawa ko:

- i allocate GC na nakukuha namin ni husband for monthly grocery. Sila hubby naman may binibigay sa kanilang GC pang shopping twice a year, so ang ginagawa ko, pinagsasama-sama ko yun then divide by 12.

- i ask my sister (who is in Canada) for basic things na di nabubulok. Like dishwashing liquid, laundry detergent, hand soap and the likes.

→ me and hubby would only watch in cinemas pag yung movie is full of visual effects like Transformers, Avengers.. pero pag rom-com lang, sa DVD na lang.. mas tipid sobra!

→ we take an ordinary bus instead of airconditioned bus pag pauwi na.. okay nang mausukan pag pauwi :)

→ no no to taxicab! we make it a point to leave early for work para di hassle to take PUBs

-super matipid kami sa tinitirhan namin. kwarto lang kami since kami pa lang naman ng hubby ko. ayun, lagi kaming nasa isang piece of furniture, dahil isa lang talaga ang piece of furniture namin - kama. ok kasi yung neighborhood, tahimik kaya di rin kami makaalis alis. hehe!

-since 2 lang kami and malayo ang wet market, mas matipid para samin magcanteen na lang pag workdays. pagweekend nagluluto kami pero yun nga lang, kung ano ulam namin for lunch, yun ulit for dinner dahil wala kaming ref (personal choice, may tendency kasi kami punuin ang ref lagi hahaha).

-wala kaming bills. no internet (we have prepaid bro stick pero bihira din gamitin since sawa na rin kami maghapon sa net sa office), no cable (no TV haha sumuko na kami sa local channels eh puro commercial. torrent lang ok na kami :P), no postpaid mobile plans, no credit cards. water and electricity, kasama na sa bayad namin sa rent.

-tough love sa mga kapamilya. kung hindi naman matter of life and death ang problema sa pera, di muna.

for sure may ititipid pa ang buhay namin. like i can take the public bus going to work instead of uv express and we can let go of our weekly dates pero ayoko ng ganung level of sacrifice.

sa current setup naman namin dumating na pala yung bagong sahod, di ko pa nauubos previous sahod which feels good. hehe!
