Born-Again Christian and Catholic couple anyone?
« on: May 09, 2014, 02:28:03 pm »
I just want to ask kasi I had an ex bf (1st bf) which happens to be a Born-Again Christian while ako Catholic and as far as I can remember yung ex gf din ng kuya nya is Catholic and ayaw ng mother nya na Catholic ang maging gf ng mga anak nila kasi daw "makasalanan" may iba bang GT's na nagkaproblem na ganito?

Not my intention to disrespect pero di ba kasalanan din yung husgahan yung kapwa nila ng "makasalanan" just because they differ in spiritual beliefs?

I had an ex na born again Christian pero unlike your bf's mom, his mom was never judgmental of Catholics. As long as naniniwala kay God, okay lang sa kanya and very respectful sya sa views ng ibang tao when it comes to religion. So for me, medyo lame yung reasoning ni mother dear nya and shows na hindi sya ganun ka-"religious" as she might seem to be. But then again, I don't really know her.

I am Catholic when we first met, He was Christian then.
Now We are all christian, even our baby girl.
Nung magbf/gf kame wala namang problema mababait naman sila. pero i decided to be christian not because of him. i chose to be one of them because i want to be and ever since i heard born again christian teachings (i was high school then) i want to shift religion na but my family was solid catholic sobrang hirap. kaya nung kaya ko na sarili ko i shifted.

But his brother was catholic pati yung hipag ko at yung anak nila.  ;D
wala namang conflict..

Honestly I can't stand to have this kind of in law because it reflects of having too much hatred to other people. Nagkakagera na nga eh! because of religion and never ending fact na mangyayari ito until next future generation. So isipin natin kawawa rin yung mga anak at future apos natin.

Naiba na ang pananaw ko regarding religion, I am a Catholic too.

Imagine mo Napoles is not only one. Marami pa yan.

i mean no offense pero i find some of this born again christian hypocrites. they don't simply practice what they preach. and for the makasalanan part, duh, ang linis naman nila? just because they go to do the praising and bible study doesn't mean that they are pure and it's not the only basis for you to be saved. come on, all of us are sinners. they would even preach about on being homosexual, doing premarital sex, but who knows if all of them follow that? and hindi lang naman sila ang nag pipreach about those even catholic people din naman? and can somebody just correct me if i am wrong ha. they claim to be christian but all of us are christian. catholicism is christianity. and christianity is your relation with christ. so i don't think that being a christian is not really having a religion. i don't have anything bad against them, i even attend their bible studies and praising in victory kapag nagyayaya yung mga friends ko na ganyan pero yun lang, naiinis lang ako na bait baitan ang peg at the way na kung makapangaral at magsalita yung iba pero parang di naman nila alam yung mga sinasabi nila. like bawal daw ang gay, pero halata naman si pastor na gay siya. i don't care if he's gay what's important is how you help and contribute to the society. and it's not a sin to be a homosexual kaya wag naman sana sila idespise. and also, i know this pastor na kinukurakot yung pera ng simbahan. hay andami pang anomalies. some catholic priests naiissue about that kaya lahat tayo may mga kasalanan kaya sana walang nagmamalinis.

ako naman catholic and bf/hubby born again christian.

I have a catholic friend, christian yung hubby nya and baby nila. Ok naman sila, wala namang issue.

^^i have to agree with you sis. hindi naman sa nilalahat ko, i have a bestfriend na christian, pero she and her family are mababait naman. there's this person i know lang na swak sa descriptions mo. actually, obvious din na gay sya pero never sya umamin. hello, since highschool walang niligawan. at parang hindi rin nya type ang girls. yung mga kinoclose friend nya, yung mga may itsurang boys tapos nagseselos kunwari sya (as a friend) pag may new friends itong mga boylets nya. ang worst pa dun, mahilig sya magpa blind item sa fb. mag status sya ng kung sino sa mga kabatch nya sa school tapos pahuhulaan nya sa ibang friends nya. gawain ba ng straight yun? :P

Present, parehas kami ni hubby catholic couple turned evangelical christians..Hmm.. ganito kasi yon.. I will tell you direct to the point. Una, they understand na hindi talaga sila Christian before.
Kasi God is dead serious about saving us. Pangalawa, they fail at nagkakasala pa rin naman. Yes, totoo yon. Pero hindi sila nag mamalinis, at hndi ko din sila pinagtatanggol, they will reap the consequence of sin. Pero naman girls, even the bible heroes fail to God (david, saul, peter, etc). Ano difference nila? God reveals himself only to those who choose Him kahit masakit marinig nila they follow Him. It’s a matter of the heart. Parang pekeng pera. Fallacy mixing with the truth.

hi sis rissy_06, just a question how did you come up with your opinion that Roman Catholicism teachings are counterfeit Christianity? I practice Roman Catholic faith and yes Roman Catholic faith and other Christians differs from each other but I do respect their faith. You seem judgemental to the Catholic faith, parang yung mother ng bf ni TS. Just wanna share this with you, there are a lot or protestant pastors who converted into the Catholic faith. Sorry I can't remember the name of the pastor who had a talk in our parish last year basta he is a Bisaya and he knows Manny Pacquiao. He had a good life prior to converting into Catholic, what made him change? He studied the history of the Catholic faith. His churchmates and even his family condemned him from his conversion but he eventually lead his family into practicing the Catholic faith. He doesn't have the luxury of being a pastor but he is contented and is now preaching the Catholic faith. What I want to point out here is give respect to everyone whatever his/her faith.

Personally, i respect other religious sectors. What i don't like and respect are those people belonging in theses various sectors that are hypocrites. Stop saying and claiming that you will be the only one that can be saved. Teach and preach. Do your calling and serve your purpose. Are these religions aim to promote themselves while stepping on other sectors? Lastly, re tithing, we have to. But it doesn't mean that when you tithe, you will be saved.

Hi girls, I do not judge the person. As I said, its a matter of the heart whichever one practice. Its not you or the one who practice I take personally so don't take it, but its the teachings I do not support and voice out as a concern to all. Kindly do not misunderstand. Its not the person but the idea that I want to bring out to challenge. It is like if you have a love one, mahal mo siya pero you will sometimes speak the truth out of concern or love to let that person know and have the idea that there is a somewhat pending danger to what she might not be aware of, that she is missing something. Pwede siya magalit sa umpisa thinking ill of you pero its clear that you only do what seems best for that person. Its best that we must always be open na baka we might be missing something more important if we try to seek what differs while prayerfully asking. Both our basis is God's word and I will emphasize it once more, its a matter of the heart in seeking the Lord. About those who shifted from 1 religion to another, kahit ano pa yan, still the basis is not the label of the group, rather its the attitude of our hearts.

Hi,

I'm a christian and my gf is a catholic, though she is not someone who goes to the catholic church often, i invite her to my church since it would be best if we both go to church together, she's fine with it which is great but of course there are times that she isnt really into it.

it will certainly bring up questions of obedience, clash of concept/ideas in line with practices/belief.

My mom wasnt really happy at first and expressed her frustration with it since it seemed that i disobeyed.(i know i did though) but eventually she warmed up and somehow is in good term with my gf.

i would try my best veer away from pointing out which religion is right, i would leave that for you guys to decide.

complications would always arise regardless of the religion, but as long as you have a good line of communication to discuss the differences i think you'll be ok.

in the end its not the religion that saves, but the personal relationship you have with our Lord Jesus Christ.

i dont think religion should be a hindrance. religion is a matter of preference. it all boils down to respect.

We believers of Christ follow the teachings of the Bible.

One teaching is to never yoked with unbelievers.

2 Corinthians 6:14
Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?

Are Catholics believers? Some are and some are not.

I married a Catholic man. And yes I am reaping the consequences of that choice.
Although my husband believe in God magkaiba kami ng paniniwala.
But by the grace of God I am surviving. And I always pray for the salvation of my husband.

God has a promise for wives who has an unbelieving husband:

1 Peter 3:1-2:
In the same way, you wives, be submissive to your own husbands so that even if any of them are disobedient to the word, they may be won without a word by the behavior of their wives, as they observe your chaste and respectful behavior.…

sa case namin ni BF ako yung Christian and wala namang conflict sometimes kasama ko sya mag simba and take note he even insist na sumama sya. ok naman sa parents ko since we were all baptized last year lang except sa father ko na matagal ng Christian. At eto pa ha  since high school palang si bf sacristan na siya and mag papari nung gumraduate kame kaso ano naman magagawa ko eh naging kame edi di natuloy pag papare niya haha parang ako tuloy humadlang well anyway di ko naman alam mag papari sya. Sa ganyang case namam pag siya nag aaya magsimba sumasama naman ako sakanya nga lang naiintindihan nya naman if i don't response or even make sign of the cross. Basta nag kakaintindihan naman kayo sa mga religious beliefs ng isa't isa wala namang dpat problemahin di ba? just go on lang sa relationship ninyo and dapat both christ-centered para smooth ang flow ng relasyon.
