on and off decision
« on: May 08, 2014, 09:03:30 am »
I need an advice, i really want to resign to my recent job i feel so stuck here no growth at nabobobo na ako sa profession ko, i keep telling my bf na gusto ko na talaga magresign even some closest friends sabi ko pa sa friend ko na pag andito pa rin ako sa work ko iremind nya ako to resign (para lang mapush ako) last year ko pa balak tapos sinabi ko sa friend at bf ko na iremind ako january this year yun ha then come this month andito pa rin ako.

Sabi ng bf ko nagproprocastinate pa daw ako, gusto ko na talaga umalis kasi nga the only advantage i get here is malapit sa bahay at okay ang mga kaworkmates ko sa department ko pero the rest wala na.

ewan ko ba minsan i so confident and sa other side natatakot din ako what will happen if i resign. :(

There are times na desididong desido na ako tapos biglang nawawala :( ewan ko bakit ganito ako pero pag may nangyari panget agad agad sinasabi ko sa sarili ko i want to resign. hope to hear your opinions sis/bro :)

^^ from experience sis, try to study the situation kapag ok yung mood mo - hindi yung inis na inis or if something bad happened at work. try to list down the pros and cons of your current job. list them down honestly and objectively ah. list mo din yung priorities mo when it comes to work (e.g proximity from your home, shift sched, pay, position, company name, etc). try to check if the pros and cons you've listed matched or did not match your priorities at work. sa akin kasi sis, effective yung ganito..

should you decide to resign, i agree with what sis jonduh said.. before thinking of resigning, perhaps it's a good idea to look first for a new company. mahirap mabakante nowadays. just my two cents worth.

TS, jonduh and baliwsayo are right, maghanap ka muna ng trabaho before you even think of leaving your job.

Lol

I did that before sinulat ko na yung pros and cons still lost pa rin ako at di makadecide minsan naiinis na talaga ako sa sarili ko

PROS
-Malapit sa house

CONS

-hindi pwede gamitin ng buong five days yung leave for example this month isa lang vacation leave ko ang dapat gamitin
-No growth for my 2 years tenure no seminar was provided even the important one (will not divulge what kind of seminar it is but it is important in my industry)
-everything has a charge, usage of exceed aircon watts, inventory, cashier etc.
-everything is routine SOP are change without even notice minsan sasabihan nila kami ("di mo alam na bawal ang ganito") to think na yung batas na yun kahapon lang pala sinabi.
-long working hour
-No HMO, and other extra benefits aside from the mandatory benefits.

haha.. natawa ako kasi ang daming obvious sign but i'm still here.

There may be  madami obvious signs -- but which is really important to you???

Less commute time and good relationships with colleagues contribute much to a happy day, after all.

As for the "advance" that did not happen --  1 way to look at it is to study what YOU can do more to cause the advance to happen.  IMO, companies like to keep good employees. Companies like to keep more more-good and better-contributing employees.  Therein lies the key to advance.

It is good that "everything has a charge". Sa cuento mo, it refers to excess usage.  Good, it fosters efficiency on both the part of the employee and the company.  Competition is stiff, very, in these glibal times. So, every place where costs can be cut back &/or productivity is encouraged -- is good for the long-term survival of the business & employment security of its employees.

Best, you nail down a job first before resigning.

i agree with sis aquacharly. at least the points were explained to you, than by simply saying na "look for a new job before resigning"...

personally, proximity to my workplace and good working relationship with colleagues is of top priority to me. iwas sa unnecessary stress. about advancement and trainings, have you tried to be more pro-active about it? try asking your manager or HR department about future training schedules and how you can join? given this move, your boss can see that you want to grow in your industry, so plus points pa syo yun. about the leaves, have you tried scheduling/spreading your leaves to maximize them? and for those times na more than 1 day VL ang gagamitin mo, have you tried filing it more than a month in advance? in my current office kasi, strict din sa leaves, so we try to schedule and spread the leaves across the months para we could maximize it. for those VLs na more than 1 day, i usually file it 6-8 weeks in advance. my boss usually approves it because he can make the necessary adjustments sa work plan.

pag-isipan mo mabuti sis. considering your priorities at work, be sure na mas ok yung lilipatan mo than what you have now. just my opinion...

Pareho tayo ng dilemma. About resigning from work. Reason for staying sa work is money and security. At least after retiring, may pension pa rin. Aside from that, wala na. Reason for resigning is mag-alaga ng anak. Medyo lumalaking spoiled kasi. He can provide well naman, natatakot lang ako, what if biglang may mangyari sa kanya, wala ng magsupport samin at alam ko ang hirap pumasok ng work ngayon. :-(

Been there, done that. Last year lang. I stayed with the company for almost two years for the reason na ilang tumbling lang from our house yung office, like isang tricycle lang. Isa lang ang question ko sa sarili ko before I finally decided to quit - "Do I see myself working here in the next 20 years and eventually retiring from here?" My answer was crystal clear - No.

Ang dami kasing factors eh and I eventually got burned out like kulang na lang iyakan ko every single day that I had to wake up and go to work.

Then like you, I was procrastinating and waiting for the right time to resign until inunahan na ako ng health ko. Ayun. I do miss certain people and the tawanan and the short commute. But do I have any regrets? No.

Basta think not once, not twice, not even thrice. Think harder than what you're doing. Think long term.
A little backreading won't hurt.

^thanks for inspiring word sis sugardrop at sa lahat ng nagadvice dito anyway push na push na ako magresign :) actually may initial interview na ako sa other company will try my best kesa naman wala kung di ako aalis sa comfort zone ko porket malapit sa bahay nothing will happen.

Like now kulang kulang na naman kami sa tao at hinatakan ako ng isa without notifying me :( i don't know why this company practice unprofessionally, naaawa ako sa maiiwan ko kaso i need to grow and we need to grow :) marami naman ako natutunan sa company nila but i think it's time to say bye bye na.

Agree ako with what they said, it does help to list the pros and cons and consider everything carefully kapag clear ang mind mo and hindi ka pagod or upset.  Mas makikita mo yung totoo kapag ganito.  It also helps to think about the future.  Katulad nga ng sabi mo, gusto mo mag-grow, and if you feel na hindi ka na nag-grogrow dito and wala nang chance na ma-remedy yan, that's one sign to leave.

Kasi kahit gaano pa kalapit sa bahay mo yang job mo or gaano mo pa kasundo yung officemates mo, ikaw din ang mahihirapan if you stay there.  Hindi naman ata maganda na magtrabaho ka sa job that bores you or stunts your growth at mag-stay there until you retire.  Understandable kung kailangan mo mag-stay sa ganyang trabaho dahil wala na talagang better option, but if merong mas magandang opportunity, I suggest you grab it.

May mga pangit na aspects like some unsavory people, etc., pero there were also a lot of people there that I really enjoyed working with and even consider my friends. But in the end, after considering everything, I realized na hindi na worth it mag-stay.  It may be scary sis, di natin alam kung ano mangyayari pag umalis ka diyan, but until you do, you won't find out.  Better na umalis ka while medyo okay pa ang lahat, wag mo na antayin na ma-burnout ka or ma-depress sa work.

I hope everything will turn out well for you, good luck :)

Pls. Help me i need your advice.
