Hi girls, I agree w/ the debt-free wedding, also to add at least you should have an extra money for your expenses after the wedding. :)

Tips to stick w/ your budget:
1. Think of you NEEDS not what you WANT
(There are many things that would make your budget bulge. Actually more of it comes from the misc things. ex. for me i really wanted to put drapes, lanterns, balloons for decoration but it is an add-on to our budget, kaya I did not pursue just stick w/ our caterer's decoration- & at the day of our wedding the reception was so beautiful... i did not expect it, there was lanterns, the flowers was gorgeous... the caterer added it w/ no cost! :) )

2. Watch your guest list.
If you have a guest list 150. stick to it. and add a buffer.
In my case. our initial list was 150 but our guests increased to 200. there is no way i can limit it because of my relatives that is why we downgraded our package and made it 180 pax so that the price would still be the same. :)

3. Stay simple & practical.
I am proud to say that I made it! I told my hubby that I will make our wedding simple yet elegant! And yes, after our wedding I got lots of compliment that my wedding is really "engande daw" - the gown, the flowers, reception, etc. They said that "parang almost half million ang nagastos ninyo" - and to their knowledge it was only 310k (including honeymoon na).  Grabe I really stick to my budget, and if it is over I make means to cut it off. And remember, di lahat ng mahal ay maganda, at di naman lahat ng mura ay panget... kaya girls... its not about the price its on the quality. :)

4. SAVE!!!
As much as possible think always of the savings. Ex. like doing your own DIYs instead of ordering. it will be a great help. And also the feeling is different if you have save something tapos mas maganda pa yung kinalabasan :) a peso is worth a lot!

5. Remember that your wedding is not a SHOW-OFF it is a CELEBRATION.
Your wedding is your first celebration as a couple. This is to thank the Lord and share the blessings w/ your special friends & family. Sometimes kasi couples don't mind spending just to show that they can afford this supplier, or just because they want to exceed their friend's wedding budget or because they want to show their relatives that they can spend a million for a wedding.. something like that. Always think that this is your day and not everyone else, you do not need to please everyone  :)

Happy preps girls! ang saya ikasal lalo na magprepare kaya make most of it. :)

^ super agree on number 5. Wag natin kalimutan ang main point why we are getting married. We tend to get carried away din kasi.

Sis kulang yata walang number 4 :)

Yey ang galing sis!! Agree din ako with everything. The truth is, eversince we started planning for our wedding (or maybe even before that) I've always been more excited on our life together after the wedding, na tipong the only thing I want is yung makasal sa kanya. Most of the times, the details of the wedding seem unimportant to me kase ang gusto ko lang is makasal na sa kanya agad agad -- and start our lives together as mr and mrs already. Sobrang thankful na lang ako na eventhough minsan di na kami makapag-antay, he's still willing to give me a wedding, na we can share with our families and friends. Yung totoo, our partners are up to these 'engrande' weddings naman for us, ladies eh. So kung willing sila ibigay yun sa atin, be thankful and appreciative na lang :)

Kaya kami we will be sticking to good food, good music, and good company on our wedding day. :)

Mine is not engrande din. Natuto ako sa Let go and Let God.

Mas excited nga ko sa after the wedding. Para may lilipatan na kami after the wedding

^^Couldn't agree more sa point niyo girls! Di ata maganda na negative savings after wedding and may utang na agad kakasimula pa lang ng married life. That's terrible! My mom would always tell me to just spend what we can, what we have for the wedding. My starting budget is smaller than average and I make sure di kami gagastos ng di naman talaga kailangan. We are currently paying na for our own place and we need to buy pa gamit sa bahay. Ang hirap ng wala ka savings after a lavish wedding. That's really sad.

I have a friend who spent more than half a million sa wedding nila in fernbrook. Then sabi nya ok lang mag dildil sila asin after wedding.

Pero para maubusan kayo ng pera literally, not a good start for a married life.

Super agree. Spend what you can and what you have. Wala naman problema if the couple can really spend millions for their own wedding as long as hindi utang, pangit talaga yung after wedding nagre-recover pa kayo sa debts and mas nakakahiya if one of the guests yung inutangan mo.  :o

And if you really want an elegant wedding, you can set priorities naman kung san may allowance ang budget or alin ang pwede tipidin. For us, we prioritized the venue food P/V since we asked our guest to travel all the way to Tagaytay pa so we want to make them feel naman na it's really worth the travel and of ourse P/V to make sure that our best day ever will be properly documented something na mapapakita sa future kiddos. We didn't splurge sa gown, make-up, flowers and we did some DIYs din. Ayun nakaraos naman kami with zero debt, may allowance pa for our honeymoon and some savings. Mas happy and fulfilled ang feeling after the wedding if debt-free talaga :)

Also be HAPPY & CONTENTED of what you have! Kaya yung iba nagkakautang kasi hindi naman nila kaya but they want to have a super engrade wedding. Contentment is the key girls :)

This. Why spend beyond your means right? Parang sweldo lang yan, walang maliit or malaking sweldo, everything depends on your lifestyle.

GT is very informative especially when it comes to suppliers, DIYs, etc etc. Sometimes lang we tend to aspire greater than we can actually can afford because of all the information and ideas na nakukuha natin dito. So I'd still say stick to the NEEDS and the non-negotiables.

Hi mga sis, now lang ako nakabalik sa GT ,and nagulat naman ako sa mga reactions re what i replied... :) its very fortunate for you mga sis if meron talaga kayong savings na malaki ... For us naman, yes magloan si h2b (hindi naman OA sa laki), but it doesnt necessarily mean na magiging off na start ng marriage namin . . . we have already talked and planned it - for the  before and after the wedding . I totally agree that dapat ang focus is Wedding itself, and we are not showing off sa wedding namin kaya magiging negative savings kami.. There are reasons behind all of these... And hopefully maging maayos ang preps natin mga sis :) thanks sa mga insights and tips nyo

Namiss ko mag GT mga sis! Hi sis charmedter! Hugs! For me nasa couple padin yun kung uutang ba o hindi. Many people use loans and credits wisely and they maximize their finances well dahil dun. Even tycoons accomodate the possibility of them getting loans ;) I understand your point sis kasi push kayo sa wedding na hindi umaasa sa ibang tao. I know it's important na madaming on hand after the wedding, pero yung problema sa pagbabayad ng utang depende din sa tao yan. If you're really prepared to pay debts at positive ang tingin niyo, walang magiging problema sa pagbabayad. You will pay the debt happily and walang away na magaganap between you and hubby. And di ako naniniwala na negative savingsa kayo sis hehe.. I've been following your preps kasi twin brides tayo and masasabi ko super saving na yung ginagawa mo kumpara sa akin. Dont worry sis kahit mag loan si hubby mo I'm sure youll dp just fine as long as we change the way we think about credit (bpi lang haha). Ive known couples who had loans for their wedding and now they have kids and all and theyre doing just fine.. GV lang sa wedding mo sis. It's one of the best days sa buhay natin. Not that sinasabi ko na okay lang ubusin ang lahat ahh. I know you'll be just fine naman sis :)

Our savings are meant for other things that will come in the future like kids, education, and most especially yung retirement. We didnt walk into the wedding preps na hindi kami convinced na may pagkukunan kaming pang wedding na hindi magagalaw ang savings namin for the other parts of our future.

Im sure di lang si sis charmedter ang may ganyang situation.. and madaming reasons behind every move.. wag nalang mag judge.. Good vibes lang lagi sisses :) hugs!

Pumili lang kami ng importante, like caterer, venue, P/V, HMUA, and wedding gown.. the rest let go na ako sa mga dream suppliers ko.. tapos made a lot of DIY din. And very happy naman kami na naging maganda talaga kinalabasan ng big day namin. Pero ang importante, after the wedding, may budget pa din kami to start our new life together plus savings pa! :) lahat naman tayo shempre gusto ng magandang wedding talaga.. pero kinontrol ko at dinisiplina ko talaga ang sarili ko na mag say "NO" sa mga nice to have. :)

True, it was meant as a reminder and an advice. We watch out for each other here.

Ang vibes ay depende sa receiver. Pwede naman yan good vibes kung gagawin learnings di ba? :)

So back to the budget, yung mga extra expenses like meeting with suppliers, errands, gas and parking, malaki din pala ano?
