high blood pressure, high cholesterol, what's ur diet?
« on: April 29, 2014, 08:53:15 pm »
May i ask what you're eating? What you are cooking? What you are avoiding? And what are the things that should be done.

I have a history of high cholesterol but i got pregnant and recently gave birth. Before I gave birth my BP started to elevate and continued on for about a month - i was given meds safe for pregnancy and breastfeeding. Im no longer taking the meds but still taking omega3coQ10 as supplement.  I am still breastfeeding and i want to do something about my diet to prevent high BP and high cholesterol.

Any suggestions? Im trying to cut down on salt and sugar, having brown rice and eating more fish and chicken over pork/beef.

Hi Sis le_zar,

1. What is your BP med? Thanks

I gave birth almost 6 months ago, been hypertensive before pregnancy and took Aldomet the entire pregnancy and 2 weeks post delivery and  since then no medication at all just rely on healthy diet and exercise. But lastweek, my BP shoot up to 170/100, so the internist advise me stop breastfeeding (mixed feeding ako)..Took Candesartan for 10 days but I stop (4 days now) now cause I want to resume breastfeeding.

My diet now is high protein, more green leafy veggies, less processed food, no canned products and zero salt in cooking

i have normal bp but there was a time na tumaas talaga cholesterol ko.. pano kain kasi ng kin ng balut. as in halos everyday. since then binigyan ako meds ng doctor namin, for 1 month lang yun then nag di na ako kumain ng balut muna and avoid yung mga isaw and the likes. mahilig kasi ako nyan. after two months yata yun, ok na cholesterol level ko.
