As Kris emphasized, they were “a work in progress” with the apparent blessing of Kris’ Kuya P-Noy who was shown in an Instagram photo (promptly deleted) having dinner with his sisters, nephews and nieces on Malacañang... and Kris and Herbert.
In Singapore last week of March when we attended the Amazing Spider-Man 2 junket and the Earth Hour event, Kris said that she was impressed with Herbert because, of all the guys who ever courted her, it was only Herbert who asked Pres. Noynoy Aquino’s permission to go out on dates with her.
Unfortunately, Stupid Cupid must have missed his mark. Things went pffft before they could take off. It was an abortive romance, dubbed Kristek by the movie press, a “stopover” sort of in Kris’ long-winding search for The One, and not “forever” as she hoped it would be.
It was a work that didn’t progress, trashing speculation that everything was “politically-motivated” even if Kris insisted that she didn’t have any political plans for 2016 whether national, regional or local, although she added that she wasn’t sure yet what would happen in 2019. Herbert is on his third and last term as QC mayor and he’ll surely run for reelection, with an eye on the Senate in 2019.
We’re all asking: What happened? Why did a “promising” romance end so soon? Did an unseen hand nip it in the bud? Was “forever” not enough?
The situation is simply much too complicated. Kris has two sons, Joshua and Bimby; while Herbert has five by two women, neither of whom he married, although his current partner (in private and in politics) Tates Gana, who has stuck with him for almost two decades as the wind beneath his wings, is generally accepted as Q.C.'s First Lady. With his marriage to James Yap annulled, Kris is legally single again.
Besides, with the eyes of the media (nay, the world!) fixed on them, Kris and Herbert couldn’t simply move freely around, so you can imagine how paranoid they could be. They contented themselves with having quiet dinners at Kris’ place, never in a fancy restaurant.
Funfare learned that it was Herbert who gave up, forced into it no doubt by the unpleasant write-ups against him. Uhm, his loss, not Kris’? Definitely!
Well, I guess Kris can easily find Mr. Right…sooner than later.
During a brief chat with Bimby in Singapore, the highly-intelligent boy said that he allowed his mom to have a boyfriend as his Christmas gift to her in 2013, “so she would be happy.” Asked what his Christmas gift to Mom Kris in 2014 will be, Bimby said, “A new boyfriend!”
That’s your cue, Kris.
Maybe the “new boyfriend” is just around the corner.
