I hated the fact that Kat Alano might be crying wolf. But still, I really admire her advocacies about rape victims.

Whether the rapist is Vhong or not, she should reveal who he is.

Why only now? As she said, "that" case was the trigger. And no matter how hard a person tried to repress such memories, there will always be something that can trigger those memories to come back and haunt you which could be exactly what happened to her. And her way of dealing with it and to get past it is by talking about it. Yun nga lang, why on social media, diba?

^ ako din I have the gut feeling that KA is not telling the truth. She just put the name of her perpetrator in a guessing game. creating a noise but somehow scared to stand up for her allegations. I'm wondering also if really wala talaga siya connection kay CL, DC at kay babaeng baluga (as if aamin naman siya).

for me, her advocacy doesn't really help the victims of rape if you continue to hide the identity of the monster.

Notice how Gabriela group handles high profile rape cases, they mentioned who the perpetrator is but still protecting the identity of the victim. Dapat kasi ganun, panagutin mo kung sino ang nagkasala sayo. ilantad yan sila. sabayan mo ng legal actions para magtanda. it's not like " Oi na rape ako. secret muna ha. hulaan niyo kung sino!".  :D

I don't have any gut feeling that she is lying or telling the truth. I just understand where she is coming from kasi nga how can you prove you were raped 9 years ago considering the time frame alone? Wala syang evidence, only her word. So if she names the guy, she has no evidence to back up her allegation and she'll end up getting sued with libel. It is possible to talk about what happened to her as a way of letting it out without having to name that guy if she doesn't intend to sue that guy at all.

Just by talking about it, some already made nasty remarks such as "she had it all coming for partying and drinking more than what she can take". Paano pa kaya if she names her supposed rapist?

And why did she talk about it just now? She was still a teenager when that happened, a lot could've been going in - denial, shame, self-pity, and others that could've made her decide it was better to just keep it to herself and a few close friends whom she trust. It's not easy to tell people she was raped. Some really take years to open up about it, some never talk about it at all. Pero may nag-trigger nga daw and yung DC and VN yun as she may have implied. Kaya asking why now eh walang makakasagot talaga nyan but her. All people can do now is speculate.

Yung kay KA, sa kin naman I think it really happened but as to why it's only now that she's talking is because maybe wala na syang magawa kasi di sya tinigilan ng mga tao sa kakatanong dun sa reaction nya about Vhong's issue.  Even Snooky revealed she was raped by an actor when she was 14 at di din nya reveal kung sino gumawa sa kanya nun . Ang mahirap isipin eh baka mas marami talaga ang naka experience ng ganyan sa showbiz, but had no guts to say anything.

Just to share, I almost got raped by my tutor when I was young. I never told a soul until I was in college na kasi I was afraid. Afraid of what? I don't know, it was a mix of many things from my life, my reputation, the embarrassment, the gulo if ever. It's not easy to talk about it before but what triggered me is that I knew a girl who was dating his brother and said he was a maniac. It alarmed me that it wasn't an isolated situation and I need to somehow let people know of what happened to me.

So I understand Kat as to why it took her this long to speak about it. Some people even take it to the grave. And I guess with the years, it won't be easy to prove if she decides to pursue a case although she still has 11 years to file it. It's more of letting it out and unburdening herself and I guess to tell people and learn from her mistakes.

If she does pursue a case, I will support her because I know the truth.

I wonder if Kat has undergone counseling? Sana yun na muna una nyang ginawa, kaysa mag disclose sa social media,  then kept the public hanging about the identity of the person. In time siguro she would tell din.

Whether we believe in KA's statements or not, I find your remarks insensitive. We, who have not experienced rape shouldn't be quick to judge. Instead of being all-knowing about how things should be done, why not have more sympathy? These victims must've felt extremely hurt, scared, shamed and violated, among other things.. Hello, it's rape we're talking about! Rape is something that can make a person scarred and traumatized for life. Do u think it's easy for them to open up to all their pain, to extract justice? It's also plain as day, that in this country, rape victims are judged, more than they are protected. In many hurtful ways. Example na yang post mo. Yung high profile case naman na sinasabi mo, na naitatago ang identity ng victim.. well that's kinda impossible in KA's case now, isn't it? Cos she's a celebrity.

Not that I don't sympathized with girls who got raped. Parang you are also consenting what the perpetrator has done to you. Mas pinahihirapan mo lang ang sarili mo by talking about it over and over again and sharing it to people who will just milk from the issue.

The case of CL, DC and VN is a different one. Talagang may kasalanan itong si CL and DC. :P

Sa case ni DC, its obvious naman that its a set up, no rape na naganap nung nagdala siya ng fuds.
Sana lumabas ang totoo, justice for the true victim.

To Enilec,

i agree with one of the commenters here na kung ikukwento mo rin naman your case mo as a rape victim might as well lubus lubusin mo na at panagutin mo narin ang perpetrator mo. if her intentions is to spread awareness, it will help more if they know also what to do when it happens to them.. right?

sabi ko nga sa previous comment ko, rape is a very serious accusation. once you're tag being a rapist, either its true or not, its going to be your reputation for the rest of your life-- a Rapist. kaya off lang for me na somehow KA placed the name of her perpetrator in a guessing name game.

you might seem to think i'm not on the side of a rape victim. i will share you one story (medyo mahaba 'to), a 16 year old girl almost 9 years ago din was left inside their apartment in Manila being shared with her siblings and a distant male cousin from her father side. she was raped one evening by this cousin because they were left alone and he was drunk. the rape was discovered because this girl was left profusely bleeding at home after what happened to her. the rapist went into hiding. who is this girl? She is a cousin of mine. On my mother side. We were close because she was like our baby that time. You know how heartbreaking it was for us when we found out? Super hurt.  :'( we never thought this will happen to her. They had medico legal and filed a case against the perpetrator. it took a while before she got her justice kasi nga nagtago etong lalaki hanggang sa nahuli din nila in the end. it was big talk in our province before kasi nga kamag anak din ang gumawa pero wala kami pakialam. we want justice for her. managot ang may sala. anyways, fast forward now my cousin is trying her best to become a doctor. we're so proud of her after what happened..nakaahon siya and till now,, she's very beautiful.  :D hindi ko sinasabi perfectly lahat ng rape victims ay dapat ganito kasi hindi naman lahat sakanila ay may tapang at may support ang pamilya. pero sa case namin naging mahirap yun nuon mapag-usapan/bulong-bulungan ka ng buong probinsya. however kung hindi lumaban si pinsan ko, hindi siya ganito katapang sa buhay ngayon (this is what i think). she removed that power (to control) from her rapist and from her past.

so sister Enilec, hindi ako pro-rapist ah.   :D i know rape is a serious crime. ayoko lang siguro yung nangyari kay DC na dahil sakanya nagkaron ng impression na anybody can be accused of rape to get away of something. for KA, though mukha nga siyang bangag lately, sana nga totoo na her purpose is to help who are victims of rape and educate them also on what to do when it happens to them (may sinabi ba siya ganito? if there is, sorry i missed it out). kasi nga with social media hype one way or another someone is milking out the issue.

OT na din kasi di naman related kay VN. bottom line ng personal opinion ko is i don't think KA is handling her rape allegation the right way it should be and because of that i don't believe her story. IMO a serious/sensitive matter like this (lalo na kung totoo) should not start and end only in press releases and blind items. yun lang naman. :)

1st, naniniwala akong na-rape sya and i ADMIRE her for the strength na sabihin yon in public. Grabe pinagdaanan nya for 9 years na tinago nya yon. I can sense the hurt and totoo naman talaga sinabi nya, minsan kung sino pa naagrabyado sya pa ang halos isumpa ng public.

A lot of people are calling her by names and judging her wala pa man din syang sinasabi na name sino ng rape sa kanya so how much more kapag sinabi nya? kaya we cannot blame her if she does not want to tell kung sino ba talaga..

PERO.. IMO lang din, the reason bakit naging ganito ang reaction ng karamihan is because of the timing ng pagsasalita nya.. Remember, nung pumutok yung issue about VN, CL and DC, Kat tweeted something about getting Justice after 9 years... so syempre ang mga tao, they will think na she's referring to VN.

Kasi una sa lahat why be affected SO MUCH by a rape case if hindi at one point involve yung mga tao don sa case sayo?

I think yun ang nakasama..

I do hope na one day makuha nya yung justice for her at hindi tama na yung rapist nya e pagala gala pa din until now...

I think KA is telling the truth naman, na she got raped, gut feel. Is it VN who raped her? Couldn't tell. Only she really knows that.

But I think I get the point na sinabi ng mga sis natin dito. She's not telling who it is because she can't pursue a case, because 1. It is expensive. 2. It's hard to prove because years have passed. Unless if there's an eye witness or a video that can prove it. 3. If she does pursue the case, she'd have to deal with number 2, and no. 1, and there's still no guaranteeing that the guy will be found guilty.

So, she goes to social media. Where she can imply identities without revealing them. Where she can reveal what happened, but never have to divulge the name. Wherein when the public 'gets' who it is, without her actually saying a name (which can get her into hot water/libelous case), that would already mar her alleged rapist's reputation <--- This I think is one of her main goals for coming out on social media, to be able to tell her story, and imply to the people that the alleged rapist/public person is not that good of a guy after all.

Pretty smart move really. I admire KA for having the courage to do it, knowing she'll have to face the scorn of the public. Rape and sexual abuse are very complex criminal cases, They do more than just physical harm. Both goes into a woman's psyche like nothing else can. Both can destroy her if they don't make the victim stronger. So kudos to her for that, and I really hope and pray that she finally finds her peace now that she's finally let it out.

But... I hope this does not send the 'wrong' message to other victims who haven't come out yet, that doing it on SOCIAL MEDIA is the perfect way to deal with the situation - trial by publicity. It is one way yes, but criminals MUST be made to face their crime in the courts of justice, and must be put behind bars as they so deserve. I hope Gabriela and other women's rights groups step in to prove to victims that there is a support system in place for them, even if the fight will be hard and long.

how do we expect her to say kung sino eh ngayon nga na di pa niya sinasabi, madami ng threats sa kanya.  Had watched the entire interview and she had a lot of verbal abuse from social media, calling her p*k2x, na-rape ng sariling tatay, etc.

The way KA told her story ang daming holes. Kaya siguro she can't pursue a case kasi mahihirapan sya to prove. I think kaya a lot of people are hating on her kasi nung start parang kampi agad sya kay DC. Then nung lumabas na imbento lang biglang syang tumahimik. And now team sila ni Mo sa pagpaparinig eh ang dami din nung haters.

Ang masasabi ko na lang sa ibang sisses be very careful. Iwasan mga situation that will put you in that kind of danger. Protect yourself and be responsible. Matuto na tayo with what happened to KA. Don't drink to the point na helpless na.
