The Father That Hardly/Never Was
« on: April 15, 2014, 05:48:52 am »
Background:

My mom and my dad separated when I was 6 months old. they weren't able to get married before they separated coz they were processing their respective annulments that time (he had a first wife and 2 kids from his first marriage, my mom had 1). 2 kaming anak niya..it was a bitter separation, walang closure..he moved to the US that time to be able to get a better job and eventually get us to live there but after a year or so, he decided to go to school subsidized by the government, and so it started na wala na siyang napapadalang money to my mom..

and another painful thing is he suddenly hardly ever calls anymore according to my mom..even if Christmas..bday namin..and the likes. i can imagine how much hurt my mom went through, and why she is still bitter until today. coz it is the reason why we didn't really live a happy, normal and comfortable life like what he promised..and those times na tinatawagan ng mama ko my dad's sister/brothers, all they said was they didn't know his contact number..which she believe is total BS.. my mom had no choice but to fend for us 3 kids.after working some time in Manila..she decided to move on and move to Palawan for many reasons..during that time, as my grandma made me kuwento, my dad called our house in Manila and looked for my mom, my grandma told him we already moved to Palawan..that is when he said he realized that it was officially over between them..we moved back here in Manila after 5yrs. We were brought up by our grandparents as my mom had to work her ass off just to put us to school.

Fast forward to 10 yrs ago..my sister had this itch to get in touch with my dad coz she was already gonna get married and she wanted him to know this. after she was able to find out the number of my dad's sister..that's when the communication started. see? alam naman talaga nila all this time ano number/location etc pero they NEVER as in NEVER made the effort to make us know and try to connect us with our dad..we had to do it ourselves.

after almost 7yrs after that marriage of my sis, we started exchanging emails, individually, with my dad. we didn't really wanna pour too much hatred or questions at him kasi baka mamaya magdisappear nanaman! all we wanted was to be able to get to know our him, to feel what it is like to have a dad..and I secretly wished magka balikan sila ni mama.

After that 7yrs, he finally decided that we should all meet in person. I do not believe this is his first time in so many years na tatapak siya ng Philippines. I believe he has been coming back and forth but only visiting his siblings...but never, as in NEVER made the effort to even locate us or what. ang sakit isipin sa tutuo lang. If it weren't for my sister's effort, malamang we never really got to see/know nor hear from him until we die.

The first time, I remembered it was really awkward, he was apologetic of all the faults and abandonment that he did. But he didn't fail too to let us know, in front of our mom, that she had a fault too. our conversations lasted until 4am..laughing, joking, sometimes serious convo about our future now that he is in the picture. He kept on promising that he will make it up to us (kids). but I guess all are just empty promises...again. now, we are experiencing what my mom felt when she was left here in the PI and when he was in the US, making false promises to her. now alam na namin bakit ganito nalang ka-bitter si mama.

He promised us he will petition us. he promised us that he will buy as a house here in the P.I and he will retire here with us in 2 yrs (he said this first time last 2012) and be with us in one roof so we could make up for lost time. he promised to help us financially to make-up for all the years my mom supported us single-handedly kaya hindi kami nakapag-college ng matino. at madami pang ibang promises.my sister and I have told him numerous times through email and personal (during his recent visits) na we need financial help sana, kasi we're struggling. whereas siya he has this big house in the US (siya lang nakatira dun), 3 cars (mercedes, etc) pero kami ni lupa sa paso wala, ni turnilyo ng kotse wala. my sister nga said years ago na "pa, akin nalang the volks mo" as a joke, he said sure, sa kanya na daw yun, seriously. But it's now 2014 and the volks is still in his garage lol. he also sold one of his cars and was thinking of buying a Mercedes Benz sports car pero afraid he will look too old for it and might be criticized, I jokingly told him na sa halaga ng sports car na yan makakabili na ng 2 cars para samin ni mama hehe..he just said he will save the money "for our future" nalang daw. nanaman.... nung una, I had so much high hopes!! I felt I was so grateful and lucky na para bang "FINALLY!" hindi na kami magstrustruggle at makikitira sa bahay ng grandparents ko, finally kahit nagkanda leche-leche married life ko, meron akong tatay na biglang tutulong sakin para makabangon uli at magiging buo na ako kahit wala akong asawa! It’s not just financial security, but emotional and the feeling that finally, I am able to meet and know my dad who was just like a ghost to me after all these years of my 20+ life! all of these were shattered as time passed..kasi ni isa dun, hindi niya tinupad, nor did he even made an effort to make it happen. Mga sis, mataas na posisyon niya sa work niya,,he works for the navy in the US..Aside sa finance person siya dun, marami pa siyang slashes sa title niya, and he is like the right hand of his boss. I saw it sa calling card niya and even in his email address. kaya nga he can afford 3 cars, a big house etc eh

We sent him links of houses that my sister and I researched na okay at pasok sa budget niya (2M at he requested us to do the research for him), we gathered the papers he needed for petition, but he NEVER filled them like what he said. he got our hopes up last 2012 before he left for the US na he has $25K that he wants to put on investment for us kids...he promised in 2yrs time (that was 2012!) na magreretire na niya, but ever year dinadagdagan niya ng dinadagdagan number of years before he retires! and ang pinakamasakit sa lahat..he confessed to my sister and I that the first time kami ngkita and the year after that, he really planned to get back to my mom and win her back..but he said as time passed and as he spent more time with her,,he realized she was not the same as before (well, ganun din siya noh!) he realized it is not going to work out for them...at nung tinanong ko siya if he is still wanting na sa iisang bahay kami nakatira when he retires, he said he will just get a separate house for him, and a separate house for me and my sister..he said he doesn’t want to live in the same roof with my mom  .sa loob loob ko, eh si mama???!! don't tell me you won't even make up for all the s*** you put her through at hindi mo pa siya isasama sa pag-"payback" ng pagkukulang mo?!.

another thing that irks us is my sis researched his name and saw that he got married and annulled in the US in just more or less 5yrs when he left when I was 6months old. until now hindi niya inamin ito samin kahit nagpaparinig kami minsan sa kanya...

mga sis, don't get us wrong,. hindi kami mukang pera or after his properties. we wouldn't be hoping for a better life if he did not promise us one..he made us expect..but now puro expectations lang pala..:( i just wanted to share how nakaka sama ng loob how he made us hope but can't fulfill his promises. I know may kanya kanyang sikap talaga tayong lahat dapat and don't depend on anyone if you want success in life..we have already been living that kind of life since he left us, just depending on ourselves. kung hindi naman kami pinangakuan, we won't have high hopes, we wouldn't expect.

Sa mga ngyayaring ganito for 3yrs since we met him in person..unting unti na namin narerealize that he really can't keep his promises..kumbaga, nawala na gami ng gana to hope. parang, "come what may" nalang kami when it comes to him..if he wants to visit us,fine, we will show na ok lang, we don't have ill feelings sa kanya, we won't ask anything nor demand from him, we won't make him pakonsiensya..kung hindi siya magpapadala ng pera coz we don’t ask, fine. kung ano makita niyang lagay ng buhay namin, it is up to him to take action or not. if he doesn't want to visit us, fine din..sanay naman na kami..if he only wants to spend X number of days with us and XX number of days with his family, sige, go ahead..we all know already by now where we stand. pero hindi mawawala yung sama ng loob sa mga puso namin.

now, on his 3rd visit he arrived last Thursday ..nakakasama ng loob na we only saw each other for 5-10mins before he left with his siblings..he said may connecting flight siya to his province and he will stay there until 25th (or more for sure just like last time). I even asked him (thru email before he arrived) if there is any emergency happening in his province that needs his immediate presence kaya nagpa-connecting flight siya kasi I found it odd bakit agad agad he has to go there..he said none naman daw, he just wants to relax, sleep and eat the delicious food daw there that he has been dreaming of. So talagang kitang kita na we are not his priority. We are not his main reason why he is visiting PI. It has always been about his siblings/real family, not us. ang sakit sakit lang. Tapos for sure if something happens to him. Baka wala man lang nakapangalan para saming magkapatid any of his properties or whatever na puwede naming manahin. I am not really after his wealth..its just that, wala talaga siyang credibility, wala siyang pangakong pinatupad.

how to deal with this kind of father? tama ba yung ginagawa namin na huwag nalang umasa and 'come what may' pagdating sa kanya? sorry kung mahaba post ko..I just needed to vent out

Hi Sis:

I mean, meron na syang track record sa inyo - what made you think that having a few days/hours spending time chatting, talking, etc etc, would erase all that and make him cough up $25,000 for people he hardly knows, even though biologically related kayo.

Also, let me tell you about some relatives of mine. As we were growing up, we were made to believe that they were living the life in the US. That they were rich, they had all these cars, lived in a very nice, very fancy neighborhood, and in fact, like yours, were also in the US military. But it took them years for it to be approved ha). Yung isa, hanggang pangako lang talaga - in fact, nag jojoke nga yung mga magulang nung tito ko na "most promising US Citizen" daw yung tito ko, kasi puro promises.

Anyway, eventually we my family and I were able to travel to the US for a vacation/holiday. Bata pa ako noon when I realized na yung image na prinoproject nila sa mga kamag anak nila sa Pilipinas was very much a lie! The big house? It was someone elses - they were just renting a room in it. The cars? All european brands pero lahat utang; or super luma. They will buy nice things from Salvation Army and put it in a box and bring (or send it) as pasalubong! Extreme couponing ang hobby nila and they don't mind wearing ukay ukay from the thrift shops para makaporma.

So I suggest take the "wealthy" image projected by your Dad with a grain of salt. I'm not saying na hindi talaga sya rich and successful, pero baka naman yung savings/money/funds nya now is just enough for his own needs/lifestyle and supporting you, your sibling and your mom is something that he didn't plan for.

Ms. TS

Actually ako nga ang tumatayong spokesperson saming 3 when it comes to my dad..

Tama nga naman na kung talagang kami yung nasa puso niya, hindi siya makakatulog or makakakain without checking up on us even once in a while. Eh ang masakit hindi eh.. Kung hindi ako mag-eemail sa kanya, hindi yan magkukusa na mag-eemail for months and months baka nga umabot pa ng taon eh.. Then he blames his damn old age daw kasi nakakalimot siya.. Tama ba naman yun? Kung talagang nasa puso niya kami at kung natupad ang desire niya na ma-reconnect with us, he will do everything na huwag uli kami mawala at mag-sama uli kami. It was too good to be true :_(

Kung ano nalang tira tirang affection at oras kaya niyang ibigay samin eh di sige.. Out of formality nalang siguro.. At kung magbabanggit man siya nanaman ng mga plano niya this visit, I'll just nod my head and won't make as much comments as possible...

Thank you uli mga sis

i agree sa mga sis na nagsabi na huwag na lang kayo umasa sa dad niyo. i  mean don't believe anything he says na lang. if he keeps in touch talk about something else huwag na yung mga tungkol sa money or house. mukhang drawing naman kasi. kung totoo kasi dapat meron na or binigay niya na hindi yung ganyan na puro sabi pero wala naman nangyayari.

hindi naman nga sa mukhang pera kayo diba? pero obligasyon ng tatay na mag provide for his children. responsibility ng bawat ama na masigurado na magiging ok ang mga anak nila. if he cannot do it sana maging honest na lang siya sa inyo hindi yung nagpapa asa siya. mas masakit kasi umasa sa wala.

tama yan be civil na lang when he talks to you guys pero huwag na kayo magpa apekto. tutal nabuhay naman kayo na wala siya what difference will it make in your life now? kung puro false hope and promises lang naman gagawin niya ano ba magandang idudulot nun sa buhay niyo? focus on your bettering your lives para makita niya kahit wala siya naging maganda ang buhay niyo "no thanks to him".

^thanks sis. Talagang "no thanks to him". Sana nga he was just honest na hindi niya kayang bumawi sa kakulangan niya or better yet not promise anything AT ALL to us, that way from the beginning palang nung nabuhay communication namin sa kanya eh it was clear na "acquaintance father" lang siya at hindi kami parang t**** na naghope coz of the promises he made

Sabi nga ni Mama, don't worry there is always Karma. He might already be paying for it now or in the future or in the next life. Bahala na si Lord sa kanya. Alam niya what he should do and was given a second chance to correct the mistake he did in the past and yet he again throws it away. Ang ayos ayos at welcome na welcome pakikitungo namin sa kanya when he visits, clearing all our skeds just to spend time with him and the tira tirang oras na mabibigay niya samin.. And yet he does this to us :(

momentum, I'm sorry na pinagdadaanan nyo yan.

Maybe I watch too much TV lang pero baka naman may sumusulsol sa daddy mo kaya ganun na lang ang treatment nya sa inyo. baka may issue talaga yung side nung family nya sa inyo/sa mommy mo kaya kahit nuon pa e tinatago nila ang daddy nyo sa inyo.

kung nag fail ang marriage nya nung asa US siya, explains why he is workaholic. baka sa work nya "naramdaman" yung pagkakaroon ng family kaya hinde din nya basta maiwan-iwan. but still, that doesn't explain why he abandoned his family in the Philippines.

Quote
he really planned to get back to my mom and win her back..but he said as time passed and as he spent more time with her,,he realized she was not the same as before (well, ganun din siya noh!) he realized it is not going to work out for them.

well, your mom changed because of him. syempre your mom is still bitter (according to you), she is still hurting, walang closure. ano naman ineexpect nya na mangyari, magpa- kulot at magpa party ang mommy mo nung nagkita sila? sana alam nya yun. and if he's really sincere na mabuo ang family nyo, handa siya tanggapin ang consequences.

but come to think of it, kahit na pinapaasa nya lang ulet kayo, nagkaroon pa rin kayo ng chance na maramdaman kung paano magkaroon ng daddy. kung paano mapuyat kasi nagku-kwentuhan, nagtatawanan kayo kasama yung daddy mo na ang tagal na nawala. at least yung empty space sa buhay mo, kahit paano e napuno kahit sandali lang. you'll never wonder all your life kung ano ba feeling ng may daddy.

kung sa tingin mo naman e you did what you needed to do para ma repair/build ang relationship nyo ng daddy mo, e yung dad mo na ang may problema talaga. He needs to fix whatever personal issues he may have with himself and to the people around him. baket hinde nyo siya sulatan para alam nya yung nararamdaman nyo and if he's not willing to be in your lives completely, sabihin na nya para hinde kayo umaasa.

Darling, just go with the flow.  Some people are really "promising" -- madaming grand dreams but ampao lang.
Don't regret connecting with him, you all owe it to yourselves to give it a shot.
Now that you know what he is --  just let it go.
Magpakita sya, fine; hindi, fine.

But as you said, your mom took care of all of you -- that's a big achievement.  Pwes, you will all be ok even  if he gives zero.  She did it for you, you will now do it for yourself & your kid.

As for you, darling: you're young. Do not let The Past keep you down.  You are a good person, masipag and very pretty --   You will surely get to bring yourself to a happier place 1 day.   Sometimes, Life is hard, yes. But nothing stays the same. Change is the only constant thing in life (and taxes, haha). But things will surely change positively for you 1 day since you just keep going on, not surrendering & being so positive.

1 last thing, yes - I believe your mom is right: Karma will take care of him 1 day.

Take care of yourself.

Thank you mga sis for all your advices, I really appreciate it and it makes me stronger..

Tama ka sis Castledoll, my mom changed because of him. He is the reason why..dahil kwento ni mama nung time na things were getting blurry na sa kanila, she was trying to pin-point what went wrong, because when they were still together they clicked in so many ways, they got along really well.. She didn't ever see in him that he would have this "abandonment" personality. I guess time, the U.S and distance changed him. Kaya hindi lang si Papa ang nakakita ng change kay mama, mama also saw what kind of a person he has become, until today. I admire nga how can she still be more than just civil to him..after what she went through. I know she is doing this for us :(

Sis Aquacharly thank you for your encouragement and for giving me hope each time my world crumbles. Thank you for being a real friend :_)

Gosh I just heard the most weird and coincidental thing today. After 30+ years, my 1st cousin's "father that never was" suddenly just called her out of nowhere, got her number from someone. Her mom and dad also separated and had no contact for soooo long. Taga Iran dad nya. Finally she hears his voice. But she said she doesn't want to really be close or get to know him.. Dahil baka matulad samin siguro or may ulterior motive lol. Ang weird haha! :D what's up with this year? lol

^ nope I have not. But problem is my mom and dad never married. I don't really wanna go to that road sa tutuo lang na I have to let him know about the law etc.. I know that child support in the U.S is only up to 18yrs of age. So basically, matagal na siyang nakatakas .. Konsensya na talaga niya eh if he wants to make up for what he didn't do or not.. Can't really force a person lalo na't both my sister and I are grown ups na and have our own families..

Tungkol sa last will.. I have a feeling na magiging "kalaban" Naming magsister ang mga kapatid ni papa especially his sister.. Bahala na when that time comes.. Parang ayoko muna isipin.. Anyway if mapupunta sa kanilang lahat or they will get our share too.. Karma karma nalang siguro.. Lalo na't if we have no idea na kasama pala kami sa will niya..we'll cross that bridge when we get there nalang siguro :)

Just saying, he will realize how little attention he gives to you pag turn na nya para magdepend sa iba (e.g. Pag nastroke, etc.) and no one even bats an eyelash. I've witnessed so many people who spent a long, long time being a b**ch to the ones who supposed to matter to them the most, then later on had a heavy feeling of remorse and regret now they need these people the most. At first akala ko sa mga melodrama lang nangyayari yan, it happens in real life din pala. :-\

I agree, never forget to take care of yourself. Stay the positive girl that you are; things will soon fall back into place.

Hi muli mga sis, I just want to give an update

So my so-called father was suppose to arrive last Friday..I texted and asked when is he planning to come. He said Saturday daw (yesterday). I told him to coordinate with my sis para they can pick him up and sabay na sila punta here in our house. Usapan is after lunch of yesterday

So last Friday, we prepared everything, especially my mom. went to the market, went to the grocery, cleaned the room from top to bottom where he is suppose to stay, made lunch for him...he called my sis in the morning, actually, it was his sister that talked to my sis, not him. may spokesperson pa siya. he wanted to leave in the morning but my sister had errands to do. so he just decided to take a taxi all the way from QC to here in Pque. According to his sister, he left 9am. 12noon na wala pa siya, my sister and brother in law had arrived already, we cooked lunch and all. We were starting to get worried na baka he got lost or inikot siya ng taxi. so we called and called, texted and texted him, NO ANSWER. we texted his sister at around 1-2pm, asking what happened and where is he na..ang gulo ng text niya, sinabi niya bumalik daw uli si papa dun sa house nila very angry, said he got lost, packed clothes, got a taxi and left abruptly without saying a word where is he going. Since wala siya samin, eh saan pa nga ba siya pupunta?

Dahil ang labo ng text niya, I called her and wanted to hear a full explanation. She said the same thing, and she said "baka bumalik ng Bicol kasi you know he loves it so much there, he didn't want to leave pa nga eh"..wow ang sakit, even if it was just a speculation of hers, still the possibility is there.
ang sama ng loob namin the whole day, umuwi nalang uli sister ko. sayang lahat ng ginastos and effort namin. the whole afternoon till night I waited for him to text us, saying sorry or whatever, whatever na puwede niyang i-excuse basta mag-explain siya why he left us hanging.

True enough, when I woke up this morning, I had a text from him that he sent 6am. He said he just arrived in Bicol (total BS). He got lost going to our house. He said he told his sister to contact one of her friends when he gets back to Manila (?). That no need to bother with my sister as she was busy. He'll try to get back to Manil 2-3 days prior  to his departure back to the U.S.  Napakalaking WTF!  nawala siya coming here but hindi siya ever mawawala how to go to the airpport (which is madadaanan subdivision namin at di hamak na mas malayo pa airport kesa sa bahay namin) and back to his province eh noh?

At first, hindi ko alam kung maiiyak ba muna ako, magagalit ng sobra pa, ang sakit sa loob, basta it was mixed feelings of utter disappointment, disrespect and so on for all of us. This really confirms, as in "right to your face" na he just felt obliged to see us, and it was not in his heart talaga to see us. Kumbaga natamaan nanaman kami sa actions niya on how he trully feels for us.  He didn't even have the decency to call or text us that he was lost or can't make it, he just left us all hanging, speculating, worrying the whole afternoon till night. Imagine that, just because he "got lost". Ganun nalang kapalit ng lahat ng effort and concern we did. We don't expect him anything, but ano ba naman yung kausapin kami ng maayos to tell us what happened and what he trully wanted? ano ba naman na he acts like a MAN and respect and not play with us? Is that too much to ask?? ...

His true colors and feelings are coming out more. This is the end. Goodbye na sa kanya

^hinga lang muna sis.  ;D relax.

Nabasa ko from the start lahat ng posts mo. I will give you some points which may sound rude/harsh to you. However, I will try to be as truthful as possible.  ;) Once in my life I became a single parent. raised my son on my own. kung ano man babanggitin ko sayo, please don't take any offense from it rather think na pedeng may katotohanan sa mga sa sasabihin ko at somehow makatulong sa realizations mo.

ready ka na ba sis??  ;D

So here it goes,,,

Una, Big Fat Liar na tao yang tatay niyo at kayo naman ay mga volunteers na nagpa uto sakanya. it was obvious from the start (history of your mom and him) na hindi siya mapagkakatiwalaan na tao. he's a sweet talker obviously.

I bet he was feeling high by the thought na wow napapaniwala niya kayo na he was capable of this and all of that. knowing siguro niya na nangangailangan kayo, dun niya kayo nakuha ulit. feeling a good father this time.

Isa sa mantra ko sa buhay ko ay You should Never Ever trust a person the same way again after he/she betrays you. it doesnt matter if you already forgive them for their faults. You don't put your trust and high hopes again on the same person. By doing so, nilagay niyo lang ang sarili niyo sa mas masakit na situation. Trust and Forgiveness are two different things.

Medyo nagulat ako na umasa kayo na magkakabalikan sina mama at father niyo after 2 decades of abandonment from him. For real?

He's in the US Navy and malaki ang sahod niya plus right hand siya ng amo niya? Hmm.. let me tell you one thing, working in the US Navy you will never have a "permanent"  boss. Sailors are always being assigned to different locations (or countries) and sometimes in 1 year you could have 2 or 3 different bosses. kaya para sabihin niyang big time siya dahil right hand siya kamo,, sino pinagloloko niya?? tell it to the marines din.  ;D

Oh by the way regarding his recent travel na ginawa niyang uwian ang Bicol at Manila. isa po etong napakalaking Bu##sh%! ano un roundtrip lang sa jeep??  :o he made the decision to do the roundtrip (kala mo sa Quiapo lang ang Bicol) dahil nabadtrip siya?? :D

The way your story goes,, I don't think when he dies he will leave anything for you and your sister. Ngayon palang sister tanggapin mo na Wala,, as in Wala and Never siyang magbibigay sainyo magkakapatid.

* On the other hand, it is right na makilala ang biological dad niyo. you owe for yourself. for me, ang sablay lang dun is umasa kayo na bibigyan kayo ng love at atensyon bilang anak din naman niya kayo. pero sister kayo ang naghanap sakanya right? hindi siya ang naghanap sainyo. it only means to him na kayo ang may kailangan sakanya at hindi siya. wala naman sa luob sakanya maging ama sainyo kaya nga siya nagtago at itinago ng pamilya niya. for all you know, he's probably thinking by now that he already did you guys a favor.

Move on sister. It's enough you've met your father. That's it. That's the end of it. Your dad cannot fix whatever went wrong with your previous marriage or fill up whatever is missing in yourself. He also cannot support your dreams neither to provide you and your sister a good life.

However, you don't have to be Bitter. Life is unfair and it will never be equal to everyone. You can cry all you want but don't make it as a grudge that you have to take for the rest of your life. Sayang ang buhay eh. Maiksi lang eto. Use the hurt to make you a better person. Find your happiness. Kung may anak ka na,, be a good mom. Invest love at your own home.

Bilang single parent dati I always tell to myself that if one day my son will tell me he wants to find/see his biological dad, I will let him But I will make sure to let him know that he should not expect anything from this guy. maski pa pagmamalasakit ay wag siyang umasa.   Love and relationship are something both people should work hard to make it work. it should not be one way street. kahit parent-child relationship pa yan. dapat parehong may effort at sincerity. kung bibigyan siya ng konting atensyon then salamat. kung wala. salamat parin at nakilala niya.

Good luck sis and God Bless. :)

^ thanks sa reply sis  ;)

Syempre hindi muna kami "nagpauto" sa kanya in the beginning, syempre hindi kami naniwala agad sa kanya, we made him feel and let him know how much hurt and so on he did to us when he left us. Then he re-assured us his "remorse" and his first promises that he will "make it up to us". Malay ba namin what his true attitude is? what change he went through all these years? Who is he now? We had to give him the benefit of the doubt..we gave him a chance to prove himself and his "desire" to make it up to us. kumbaga when he started to make those promises, yes we did have hope, kasi siyempre if you give someone a chance, there is somewhat 'hope' there right? you don't give someone a chance pero at the back of your mind eh it is clear to you na wala na siyang pag-asa sayo lol, nilalaro mo lang ang tao kung ganun. But we also didn't hope too much, alam mo yun? yung para bang "oh sige, we'll wait and see". My mom and us sisters never ever did forget what he did even if he made those promises, we just started to be civil to him, until unti-unti nag-open puso namin sa kanya, sa possibility that he will be in our lives again. Syempre only time was able to tell if kasinungalingan or bokya lahat promises niya lol..alangan naman na kaka-promise niya palang eh babarahin na namin kagad siya na "sinugaling! inuuto mo lang kami"  ;D without even giving him the chance or benefit of the doubt, to prove himself diba? hehe  ;)..

Over the years of his promises, siyempre hindi naman kami t@nga na sobrang asa parin kagaya nung first year we "met" him..siyempre, nagdeteriorate, siyempre nagbabago unti unti yung pagtingin namin sa kanya, yung credibility. We are already at the point na we finally gave up kung ano mang natitirang hope pa sa kanya, as a Father, Not just as a provider, banko, taga bigay ng bahay/lupa etc. lol.. Hindi kami "naghihirap" kaya namin siya hinanap, we did NOT give him a chance just because we are after his money and possessions, HINDI rin yun ang sole reason bakit kami nagka-"hope". Just clarifying po  :). We did not even demand anything from him in the beginning, siya yung nagpromise samin ng material things, so natural we somewhat "expected", but not to the point na we made him feel or said na "oh, simulan mo nang bumawi sa lahat ng pagkukulang mo samin!"  ;D, we never ever pressured him about the promises. And even If he didn't make those material promises before, our feelings to be with him, that desire to know and spend time with him, won't still change. Anyway, like what I said, time only could tell what was his true intention, pero at least we can say that from the beginning until The End, we only had one desire. We just wanted OUR DAD.

That "little desire" I had BEFORE na sana magkakabalikan sila ni mama, well I know naman na if ever it will happen, lol, for sure it will take years for my mom to accept him again as a husband (which she made it clear na ayaw na niya years before he even showed up in our lives ;D). Lol so it was pretty much impossible. It was just me, that kid inside of me, who secretly wished that. I never told that to anyone. I just got shocked that my dad just mentioned it out of the blue, as if he had read my mind lol..

Point here is and the bottom line why we are hurt and frustrated is because it is clear that he doesn't want to be Our dad anymore..which is the total opposite of what he made us feel (in the beginning) and what he promised to us. yun ang nakakasama ng loob dito, not just because of the broken material promises..yeah it was our fault, we trusted him when he said he wanted us back in his life, that we gave him a chance, but we will never know his honesty, credibility, his real desire or "him" as a person for that matter, if we didn't give him that chance.. it was a risk we had to take i guess, otherwise we will be forever thinking siguro na "what if binigyan natin siya ng chance?ano kaya mangyayari?"..

yung material promises naman kumbaga, icing on the cake nalang yun eh.. We have been skeptical..But still respected him, was more than civil to him and still welcomed him..kasi just because he did not fulfill his material promises eh mag-iiba na kami? no, we didn't want him to feel na we are just after his material support, coz we are not like that, tsaka naisip din namin na baka he is struggling too at the moment, or baka masyado na siyang ginagatasan ng mga kapatid niya or what lol we don't want him to feel na baka ganun lang pakay namin sa kanya,

But all that will now change, especially after what he did last weekend that we Did Not Ever deserve, after all this time na maayos pakikitungo namin sa kanya. That episode na ngyari nung weekend, lol, we know it is utter BS..we were even thinking he never really left his province..oh well, another damage done..That's the Last straw, for all of us.

Maybe in the beginning he really had that desire for us to become a complete family again, but then siguro he realized after some time na "ay, hindi ko pala kaya bumalik sa buhay nila, I don't want to be a family man again,to have a commitment, sanay ako mag-isa eh, I have to stop thinking of myself now? hindi ko ata kaya yun" etc..kaya siguro he did not fulfill all his promises anymore. Coz I do not believe he just did this "betrayal" or hurt to us just to simple feed his Ego..lol..he already and can easily get that 'fix' in the U.S. But oh well, we can only speculate what his true feelings are...but action speaks louder than words though. Now it is very clear to us what we are to him. Kaya hay, tama na itong drama  ;D it is time for the 3 of us to resume living our life without him   :)

Yes of course we don't have to take this grudge or bitterness the rest of our lives lol, he is happy with his life like this? eh di okay, good for him. We will be happy too with ours, with our OWN efforts, just like what we have been doing since he left. True it is enough that we met him, got to know the "real him", gave him a chance to be in our lives again and to prove himself, which sadly he just threw away. Now we learned The Lesson that God must have wanted us to learn here..And so now, it's time to move on to the next lesson in life hehe  :)  I now no longer have that desire to know what it feels like to have a dad, finally  :)..God bless

^ Sis, you tried your best na mapalapit sa kanya, you tried your best na buuin muli yung family nyo and to reverse the emotional hurt that he inflicted to your Mom. You wanted to hold on that last hope and gave him a chance na maging tatay sya sa inyo. You will never know how rough the waters are until you test them.

Yun nga lang, he didn't use that opportunity to become a good father to you and a good husband to your Mom. Instead, he abused this opportunity just to get away from what he did.

I agree with the Bicol part, pure BS yun. Matagal naming pinaghahandaan yung mga yearly trips namin going there (biruin mo, 15 hours by land or 1 hour by plane + 3-4 hours by land ang biyahe namin dun -- I agree, ano yan, biyaheng Quiapo?!), and by land at least 8-10 hours ang biyahe sa pinakamalapit na point ng Bicol (Camarines Norte). We all know na malayo-layo din sa airport or bus terminals ang mga tourist spots sa Bicol to ask for a round trip; the only nearest ones are in Legazpi.

You did your part, I believe you know to yourself na wala na sa inyo ang mali. Nothing to regret with that.

Just close your eyes, breathe deeply while counting from one to ten, as in super deeply, then speak this aloud whenever he's trying to do something again:

"Ay sows! Basta we're pretty!" (Hahaha example lang to, but you can say anything or simply shout or scream)

Then get back into your regular programming like nothing ever happened.

Lovelots and God Bless sis! :)
