Should i ditch a deaf yaya?
« on: April 08, 2014, 11:57:32 am »
Hi mga sis, i have this medyo old yaya.. Sa akin wala naman problema kung impaired ang hearing nya as long na she can be a good yaya to my 22 months son.. The problem started when my lola observe her as she was bathing my son. Its her non ability to take care of my son the way i want.. Paano ko kaya sasabihin sa kanya in a polite manner na ayaw ko na sa service nya? And isa pang problema hanap yaya again..hays..Help mga sis! :(

Bingi man or not, hindi puede yang ganyang inefficient na yaya.

Ok to get someone untrained -- but you must train that one to be efficient.
I assume na train or nasabihan sya about the bath requirements of your son -- pero she keeps on forgetting her "mise  en place" --  yung mga "ingredients" required to give a young child a safe bath/shower.   Leaving a young child alone, even for a few minutes, in the  bath/shower is unsafe/dangerous.

Why will you feel hesitant or shy about firing her? As long as you pay her wages correctly, quits.
Como bingi?  Discrimination does not apply to a mismatch to a job.  A yaya must have all senses working --  a child can easily get harmed, kaya nga nangangailangan tayo ng yaya.

Or you are hesitant to fire her because mahirap maghanap ng replacement?
In which case --  make sure there is someone (you or your Lola) always supervising her.
But don't keep her long, maghanap ka na ng replacement.  A bingi yaya can have a bad effect on your son's communication skills development.  A toddler may pick up the bingi's mannerisms/way of communicating & not be as orally advanced as other kids.
Safety hazard din yang bingi -- baka may nangyayari na eh baka  clueless pa sya, tapos she is responsible for a toddler's safety.

@Sis aquacharly - yun nga din talaga ang worried ko that there might be instances na may nangyayari na and clueless si yaya,im a working mom and ang naiiwan lang kay baby is Lola and si Yaya, i am now looking fo replacement.Hindi ko na hahayaang may mangyari pa before i act. I hope i can find someone to look after my son soon. Thanks for the reply, really appreciate it :)

@ Sis Jinjin - Thanks sa reply,oo nga naman binabayaran ko naman sahod hindi naman libre so bakit ako magtitiis?good point..thanks sis :)

For taking a baths, sa umaga pa Lang while the kids are still sleeping I require the yayas to prepare all the things. Like hang the towels in the bathroom. Put the clothes and diapers on the bed. They do the same thing in the afternoon (while the kids are napping) in preparation for the kids' evening baths. Kasi once the kid is awake, sa kakulitan ng bata, minsan nakakalimutan talaga (I'm basing this on my experience of not having a yaya and had to attend to my kids).

But either way, I  think you should ditch the yaya. You're putting your kid in danger. I had to  let go of a good yaya before when I learned that she sometimes have fainting episodes. Eh minsan siya Lang and my kid alone in the house.

If i were you i would definitely ditch her because she is not efficient. Tell her you're firing her not because she is deaf  you just dont like the way she cares for your son. You wouldnt put your childs life at risk leaving your son alone in the bathroom is a telltale sign of her inefficiency. Anything could happen in that split second and it not the first time she commited the same mistake.

obviously sis mas importante ng higit higit higit ang welfare ni baby sa tender feelings ng inefficent yaya. your child is still an infant and one of the important forms of communication ng baby is crying. i dont think your baby can wave to the yaya or come over to her and pat her or something else to call her attention. and for me, more importantly, is the lack of cleanliness. major no no yan. kailangan malinis ang yaya ng babies.

purpleiacious I don't know if the issue is settled already since this post was April pa. So what kung masaktan damdamin niya? Eh napaka negligent niya eh! The way you posted hindi yung pagiging bingi ang major issue rito kundi ang negligence niya. Wala yan sa pagiging bingi niya kundi yung pagiging iresponsable niya sa actions niya. Nakakatakot yan sis. Problema niya na yun kung ma-ooffend siya sa sasabihin mong maayos about her actions basta you already did your part.
