please help me choose which bank to invest. i would like to try UITF. but ive read about mf medyo nakakalito na lang sa dami ng info. I backread kaya lang information overload na. 5K lang naman ang budget ko to start investing.

^Sis I would suggest you choose the top performing banks/funds. Also you may want to consider your age, risk appetite plus time horizon.

For UITF, you may want to check this link:
http://www.uitf.com.ph/index.php#gsc.tab=0

For Mutual Fund, please check this link:
http://www.pifa.com.ph/factsfignavps.asp

For the bank you choose the one that is stable, also if maganda ang platform (for online banking), okay ang customer service (pre sales & after sales), pati na rin working days/times. Mas maganda nga iyong mga bank inside malls kasi they are open even during weekends & after office hours.

I have both Mutual Fund (Equity) & UITF (Equity). I chose Equity kasi although it has the highest risk it gives naman the highest return. Given our age pwede pa kaming mag gamble sa takbo ng market. Siguro as I age I may put certain % of our Equity to either Balanced or Bond.

We have an update on COL offering a fund supermarket:
http://www.manilatimes.net/col-financial-to-launch-fund-trading-platform-in-june/174556/

And we now have a name, COL Fund Source.
I hope nothing screws it up or delays it further than June  :D

Sayang.. Wala ba webinar for COL clients?

Hindi daw pwede ilipat ang existing MF sa COL :-[ I really want it through COL kasi less hassle sa account opening plus no sales load. I know that they are still in beta testing but how true it would really be available by June?

Sa ngayon naman, mukhang tuloy na talaga kase COL has it on their website na.

Question, wag sanang katawa tawa ang tanong ko :D

Hindi ko kasi maintindihan yung 1 year return/3yr Return/5yr Return percentage sa MF... I invested 2012 nakit ko nasa 3yr return mataas yung %, does it mean mas okay ng i pull out ang investment on the 3rd year?

^^Perfectly good question. The 1 year/3 year/5 year return percentages show how much your money would've earned EVERY YEAR if you had placed it 1 year/3 years/5 years ago.

For example -- with http://www.pifa.com.ph/factsfignavps.asp as guide -- if you placed 10k in the ALFM Growth Fund...

...on April 20, 2014 (1 year ago) -- your 10k would've already earned 16.09% or become P11,609 by yesterday, April 20, 2015

...on April 20, 2012 (3 years ago) -- your 10k would've gained 6.59% each year and become P12,110.15 by this time

...on April 20, 2010 (5 years ago) -- your 10k would've gained 16.77% each year, and would be P21,709.83 by now

...at the very start of 2015 -- your 10k would've already earned 9.31% since and be P10,931 by now

You can use this compound interest calculator to calculate this yourself.

As for what to do with this information: you can compare it with other investments like time deposits or regular savings accounts. Those investments, although risk-free, can only give about <1% interest rate per year. Meanwhile, you can see in the figures that mutual funds, particularly the stock funds, have the potential to give you as much as 20%+ per year.
That is IF you stay invested and won't be needing the money for a number of years. There is the risk that you will lose money, but this risk goes down the longer you stay invested.
