hormones as cause of weight problems?
« on: April 03, 2014, 02:48:35 pm »
my ob wanted me to lose weight by diet and exercise which i have been struggling to do for a long time..i did lose pero me time bumabalik..she said i dont need to see other doctors.. i ask for 2 more other OBgyne one said the same the 3rd one said i better consult an expert which is an endocrinologist..

i just consulted an endocrinologist and i was told the reason i'm having problems losing weight permanently is because of hormone problem. i  have pco, endometrial hyperplasia...i was given list of blood test to do FBS, insulin, thyroid, DHEAS, testosterone..

and i came across this article http://www.dietdoctor.com/get-hormones-checked-lose-weight

meron ba mga sisses who are in the same dilemma as i am?

Yes sis, baka mataas ang TSH mo kaya you dont lose weight...Lalo kapag nasstress ka, nagshoshoot up talaga yang hormone na yan. This is connected to hypothyroidism.

ang hirap talaga to permanently lose the weight with that problem..

i just recently have some of the blood test done yung pwede icharge sa HMO.. except for the DHEAS and testosterone.. hindi lang ng hospitals meron ganun test.. medyo pricey kaya ipon muna.. yun result babalikan ko pa..

@sis karakrus thanks sa help

Hay can you refer me as well? I have PCOS too and since finding it out in 2011 I've already gained 76lbs. Kahit once rice a day na lang ako ang hirap maglose ng weight... I stopped pills din kasi baka nakakaaffect pero I just kept gaining. :(

Mga sis, I`m suffering same problem.  I`m obese. As in, severe na yata.  Kahit anong gawin ko, hirap ako magbawas ng weight at mas nadadagdagan pa.  Sobrang nakakastress na.

@kikai my friend had that problem too. sobrang galing lang kasi may program lang na inundergo for 3 months then hindi na talaga bumalik yung fats nya. i'll ask her what she did

Sis karakrus, sounds interesting.  Anong program bayun?

Mga sis, may mga may PCOS na nagco-Cohen and they lose weight talaga, and nagnonormalize yung hormones. Daming nagiging pregnant after years of trying.

I tried Cohen rin pero medyo kulang ako sa discipline. :) Pero effective talaga. Lost mga 21 lbs in 6 weeks. Pero nabalik na, may dagdag pa. Major fail.

We have many hormones, lately I have been doing research. Know your body (fat) type.
In my case kasi I think it's estrogen dominance (estrogen greater that progesterone yata) so my fat distribution is more on my butt, thighs then lastly sa arms. I love to eat dairy products kasi like milk, taho.

Also, stress causes our adrenal glands to produce the stress hormone, cortisol, and this dictates to our body to store fat around our belly/stomach to protect our vital organs. So one solution is to manage the stresses in our lives. Stress is cumulative, meaning naiipon, so if yoyo ang stress sa life hindi talaga yun ma-re-relieve. When I was so stressed at work, I skipped my monthly period, when I resigned it went back to normal/regular. Let's do more spampering and relaxation than strenuous exercise.

It's also because of our diet/lifestyle, like stress naiipon siya, so if you've had bad lifestyle, like smoking, drinking, graveyard shift, insomnia, fatty fried food, they all affect our hormones.

Hi sis! I know what ur feeling. I have hormonal problems din eh but acne problems. Feeling ko tumaba din ako..

Avoid eating chocolates, sweets, dairy products and anything with high content sugar! (Very important: 5g of sugar or less is okay) if craving for something sweet, eat fruits

Avoid milk! (Almond milk is okay but mind the sugar content)

Eat.. Lots of fruits and vegetables.
Drink green tea.

Take omega 3/fish oil/flaxseed supplements at least 2g a day. (Very effective to sakin) (give it at least 2-4 months to see results)

Try only eating oatmeal in the morning and cereal in the evening. (At least 5g of protein and fiber: i recommend rolled oats for the oatmeal) Lunch is okay lang kahit mag rice ka.

Eat foods that are high in fiber and protein to stay not hungry.

Good luck!
