what if you are not aware na may unsettled credit card debt ka pala?

this is the case:  nalaman lang ng husband ko around 3 years ago na may unpaid credit card debt sya accidentally when he was transacting with another bank..the thing is, never naman sya nag-apply nung card na yun, wala syang nareceive na card and even billing statement nor email wala..wala din demand letter etc na nareceive, so he was totally clueless na nagamit na pala name nya..he  maintains  only 1 card and never na sya nag-apply sa iba at sobrang responsible nya sa paggamit ng card nya ha..parang sort of identity theft ang nangyari, and sobrang hassle dulot nun samin..when he called the hotline, di din maexplain samin paano nangyari so we were directed to the collections dept kasi wala din masagot yung kausap nya..we found out na that card was used by someone 8 years ago pa..sabi ko sa husband ko, if its less than 20k bayaran na lang..if higher, ilalaban talaga namin na never sya nagkaron nun, although di ko alam paano papatunayan yun LOL..lucky him na 9k lang pala ang unpaid amount nung card..but, meron na sya record ng delinquency, and i think yun yung reason why he was declined when he applied for a credit card recently  from another bank..nakakainsulto lang na although we have a savings acct with a big amount dun sa bank eh nadecline sya just because of that record

Identity theft seems so easy nowadays talaga! Ako naman last year, meron nagbukas ng PLDT DSL account under my name. Nag-inquire ako months before nun sa kanila online and filled out the form pero hindi na ako tinawagan uli, and then bigla na lang ako nakatanggap one day, months later, ng bill through email. Someone in cebu was using an account na details ko ang nakalagay. Ayoko sya bayaran kahit 3k lang, it took me months of complaining to PLDT bago may nangyari, pero ewan ko na lang kung fully resolved na talaga.

Sorry at medyo OT, just had to comment about that.

^^ since hindi nila maexplain papano nangyari yon, TBH, if saken mangyari yan, hindi ako magbabayad kahit 9K lang yan. I will report it to BSP.

unfair nga sis..but, naisip namin the easiest way to  clear his name was to settle it na, kasi sobrang  busy nya wala din talaga syang time na asikasuhin yun, although  we are not sure kung mabubura ba agad yun sa record nila at di na sya madedecline pag nag-apply ulit sya ng CC..kung ako lang magdedecide, gusto ko sana magkaron ng proper investigation, prove nila na may application form from hubby, may nasend na card and billing statments, kaso ayun nga baka matagalan pa. sinabi ko nga kay hubby pag nadecline ulit sya susugod na ako dun and i will tell them na i will file a formal complaint  na sa BSP

I just finish my debt lang last december . Sarap sa feeling ng walang utang. Almost one year din ako nagbabayad ng 12k per month. nung 2015 and 2016, ang dami kong travel, at ang laki ng gastos ko sa phone (phone plan) and kumuha ako ng iphone. And i noticed na umabot pala ng almost 100k yung utang ko. Kaloka lang. what i did is i talked to hsbc customer service and asked kung ano pwede gawin para bayaran yung utang. Ang sabi ng customer service, i can apply for a personal loan then pag nakuha ko na yung loan worth 120k then i can pay my credit card na in full amount. Pero nung nagcompute ako, 120k (payable in 36 months) nagcheck ako ng difference and almost 40percent so parang need ko to pay 4800 per month. Actually mapride ako. My mom and dad didnt know na meron ako ganun kalaki na utang sa credit card. Haha so what i did, nagbayad ako 12k per month, wala ako masyado responsibilities sa bahay kasi both my parents are working, my sister and brother is working too. Minimal lang yung binabayaran ko like water bill, may share din ako sa kuryente, internet (sakin lahat) and phone bill. Then may time na nakakuha ako ng incentive pay from my work. Ginamit ko din [textspeak!] incentive pay na yun and also used my christmas bonus. Tapos alloted 1k for lunch for 20 working days. Naging vegetarian ako at madami ako friends na nagbibigay ng chocolate (the perks of helping a newbie sa office, they know i like sweets lol). Nagbenta din ako ng mga gamit ko. Damit. Gadgets. Phone. Camera. As in garage talaga. I also read that dont get another loan to pay off your debt. Here are some tips na nakatulong talaga sakin.
> sold some of my things - eto yung binayad ko sa credit card ko
Nagbawas ako ng travel - nung 2015 and 2016, i went to dubai, palawan, boracay, bali, hongkong (3?), japan and bohol 2017 - i traveled once lang. Hongkong with my mom, tita and sister.
>binawasan ko luho ko - nagcheck ako ng makeup, naubos siya actually. Giveaways from office and free samples - nabawas sya sa grocery ko (i work in retail so i get to receive some free samples and get to trade with other coworkers haha) binawasan ko yung pagkain ko sa labas. Pero once in a while - lumalabas din ako and try new restaurant
>pinadowngrade ko ang phone plan ko. From 3k tp 799 to 599 lol (may company phone so okay lang)

Grabe lang yung last year, wala ako ginawa kundi magcompute every month. Nagstart ako ng feb to pay my debt. Then ang sarap sa feeling na dumating [textspeak!] december na 20k na lang yung utang and i paid in full. Wala naman harassment na nangyari between me and hsbc because i paid them on time naman and above minimum pa. Kumita lang talaga sila sa interest. This year, tumawag sila at nagsabi na binigyan nila ako ng bagong card - pangatlong cc ko na. Pero sabi ko, i will break your card into two and wont be using it. Ok na yung dalawa sakin. :)

Sorry napahaba. Lol

Hehe! Parang same case tayo sis, sakin misuse of my cc, puro mamahaling toys ng mga anak ko lagi ko binibilhan before.kahit hindi naman necessary. Then i noticed na di naman nila masyadong nilalaro. Parang sawa sila agad.angmamahal pa naman. So i stopped bringing them to the toy store sa SM. Iiwanan ko sila pag ayaw umalis..then mas gusto pala nila sa playhouse or outdoor play. So kahit once a month pinaglalaro ko sa playhouse. I wasnt using my cc since nov pa. Totoo yun, angsarap pag alam mong wala kang iintindihing utang sa cc. I was paying 30k+ per month before for the cc. Kasama na dun ang grocery. Ngayon, i always pay in cash. Kahit online buying, i dont use my cc... Mas masarap magbayad ng cash kesa panay kaskas ng card. I did not destroy my card though kasi since 2007 pa yun. Dunno how to redeem my skymiles. Pede na siguro ako magtravel pa-US e haha!

High five tayo sis. No cc use for this year! :) :)

^ i didnt destroy my card din. actually, nagbigay pa sila ng 3rd card kasi maganda yung payment background ko sa HSBC (i didnt use it for 11 months). pero i dont need another card anymore kasi ang laki ng credit limit both cards. ngayon, ang utang lang na natira dun is kumuha ako ng NSO birth cert and gas na worth 700. Paano ba naman kasi, that time i only have 1k na cash sa wallet ko then nagkamali ng pindot yung sa gas station na sabi ko e 500 lang at ginawang 700. so sabi ko, sige na kesa macharge dun sa gasoline boy yung 200, kawawa naman. buti na lang that time, dala ko cc ko kasi punta ako ng province and i brought all my wallet including passport with me (i usually dont bring my cc for the past few months kasi nga baka mapagastos ako at mawalan ng control). so nakacharge Php 1050 lang naman ang latest na utang and no additional finance charge kasi i will pay in full this Jan 13, 2018. actually, i really wanted to get an iphone 8plus. soooo tempted to get pero pag iniisip ko na another 56 - 58k na naman sa cc ko, napapailing na lang ako. hahaha i dont usually use my iphone 6 at madalas pa yung j7 kasi dual sim. kaya inisip ko na lang na if i will buy iphone 8 plus, i wont be using it also kasi nga dagdag na naman sa mga phone ko na di nagagamit. (iphone 6, j7, blackberry and one company phone issued)

grabe lang nung mga bandang feb or march 2017 - nadedepress ako kasi ang laki ng utang ko. pero imbis na madepress ako, i need to change my lifestyle for me to survive. actually my dad noticed na mas hindi ako magastos nung 2017. kahit nga buying of clothes, shoes and bags hindi masyado. lol sa isip ko, dami ako babayarin. naging minimalist din ako.

i just want to say na hindi naman maghahabol tong mga banks na to if we pay our debt on time. if we live within out means, im sure makakabayad naman on time and of course, not forgetting responsbility. i learned how to be a responsible cc holder (yes! my road to ,y 30 something. hashtag adulting!!!!)
Also, mahirap na magtiwala like paswipe dito, paswipe dun. travel dito, travel dun (lalo na yung mga friends ko from abroad na ako nagbayad ng plane ticket nila then hindi binayaran kasi biglang di uuwi ng pinas. kaloka! navictim ako. now if magpapaswipe sila sa travel, i asked them to pay first at bank transfer kasi nagreason out ako na ayaw ko ng late payment lol

naranasan ko din yung mapadalhan ng demand letter (law firm) but from globe naman kasi di ako nagbayad for almost 5 months. yung plan ko now is under my tita, ako din nagbabayad nun. natakot ako ng nakareceive ako ng demand letter and i paid in full agad (5k lang naman) natakot ako na magkaroon ng bad record. tapos after 3 months, tumawag ang globe at gusto mag offer ng line. hay naku. allergic na ako sa mga offers ng gastos.

i learned my lesson the hard way. nadepress din ako (nakakainit ng ulo at nakakadepress ang walang money!!!). nagkaproblema. pero i just have to deal with the mess i created. now im debt free na talaga. as in no utang.

I have a question about cc debt. Though fault ko naman, they endorsed me to different collectors. Nainis ako that time kasi may araw na 2 people tumawag sa akin asking for 2 different amounts! I was willing to pay pero naghinala ako kasi yung isa sabi sa akin sige, pay 2k na lang, ma'am. Send mo. Then after a few hours, somebody called me asking me to pay kahit 3k daw. Sabi ko sino ba talaga papaniwalaan ko and bakit hindi clear yung instructions about the payments? Until they stopped sending me mail, no bills na rin. It's been 4 years. Now, I received a letter. Inabot sa mother ko ng law firm daw asking me to pay 100k+ in 5 days! I ignored daw yung notice from the bank several times but nobody sent me bills. What can I do about this and who should I talk to? Actually, hindi ko na nga alam how much ba yung actual amount that I spent. Puro interest na eh.

^ ignore. Don't deal with those collectors, deal with Citibank mismo. Be wise on dealing with them. If they told you na they will file a case pag di ka nagbayad, sabihin mo go. If I were you, I'll talk to Citibank, if in case na closed na talaga account mo and ni rerefer ka na nila sa law firm aka collections agency 😂😂😂, then saka ka makipag deal with them na yung amount lang mismo babayaran mo, hindi na kasama interest.. Kaliwaan and proof of payment or certificate na bayad ka na.

^ thanks, sis. dati tinawagan ako. pay 1500 daw ora mismo. ginawa ko naman. nagkumahog ako to pay tapos when i checked parang wala namang nangyari sa binayad ako. i used to pay paunti-unti pag iniinform ako. my husband told me to stop paying kasi yun nga paiba-iba na ng tao yung tumatawag with different demands. i guess nabenta na yung account sa collectors kasi years ago pa ganyan until wala ng kumontact sa akin. i really wanted to pay it off pero hindi yung fishy mga kausap ko. mapapaisip ka kasi talaga if may mapupuntahan yung pera na ibabayad. i don't know tuloy anong steps gagawin ko para matapos na without dealing with these collection agencies. nagdadalawang isip ako to contact yung nag-abot ng letter dito sa bahay. basta sabi in 5 days i have to pay. The letter is from Cases Chun and Associates. Letter is dated Nov 8 pero dumating lang today. So today yung 5th day na dapat makabayad na.  ;D Nakakaloka.

if you are going to pay them, make sure na maka kuha ka ng certificate na bayad ka na, so pag may tumawag ulit sayo, yun na lang pakita mo. parang modus kasi dating. bayad ka na tapos may maniningil ulit. Ano yan modern budol budol.  ;D ;D ;D

^I beg to disagree. If you know how to use those cards super beneficial sila. You get perks that you will not get it you pay thru cash. You can always swipe your card and pay it right away naman, di mo need antayin ang due date or lumabas pa ang bill. Ako I use my card kasi sayang ang points, those points are convertible to something useful.

^i agree, ang cc para siya sa responsible spender. i have two cards, un isang bpi eh tinawagan lang nila ko no need for reqts daw so gnrab ko kahit my prepaid credit card ako from bpi din. na kinuha ko lang for travel kase nahihiya akong maki ride. un isa ko is citi rewards, nirefer lang ako ng sis in law ko kase may rewards every referral. Lol ang gamit ko lang talaga sa cc para sa travel other than that pnpswipe ko un sister ko and her brother and sis in laws. sabi ko nga kumuha ko nga un card eh para talaga sa kanila un. hahah

when it comes to payment, i make sure na bayad siya 3 days before my due date para sure ako na posted. hindi ko sinasabe sa kanila na binayaran ko ng advance. isa lang un rule ko sa kanila, ayoko ng installment. good payer naman sila kaya hinahayaan ko lang na makiride sila, wala naman akong kita dun kundi un points.  ;D

Swipe dito, swipe doon.

I make sure na paid in full every cut off. May cashback pa ako. Hehe
