@pumpkin13 - ok lang na wala kang gamit since first time mo pa lang naman. And you'll never know if hiking's really for you. Simple backpack and a pair of good shoes would do you good specially if kina tomatostellar ka sasama dahil manabu lang yung aakyatin nila. Not technical and really very good for beginners.

@soulsister - ano bang preferred date mo? baka meron akong mahanap for your preferred date. A word of advice, if you're planning on trekking Ambangeg-Ambangeg, maaga kayo magsstart ng trek para maabutan yung sunrise. 1am dapat nagttrek na kayo from ranger station (not unless your group is one of those na nakapagreserve ng maaga and pinagpala na magcamp sa camp2). Prepare for a REALLY cold weather. :D

Ang natry ko pa lang akyatan is maliliit na bundok somewhere in laguna and that was years ago, bro. di pa ko mabigat nun. Haha. Di pa ko makakasama kay sis tomatostellar kasi di ata open for outsiders yun manabu nila. Naghahanap nga ko online yung di nakakahiya makijoin. Di naman ako papabitbit. Hahaha.

If you want we can plan on going on a hike (I prefer overnights). We can hike those easy to hike mountains for those newbies. Problem nga lang is yung gamit if puro newbie ang kasama hehe.

Pwede naman. Kaso lang talaga nakakabitin kapag dayhike lang. Nagdadayhike lang ako kapag training climbs eh, most of the time talaga overnight. Best part kasi ng overnight is Sunsets and socials haha

Sis, hindi ata ako yun sinasabi mo. Lol. Ngayon pa lang ako makikijoin if ever may matutuloy. Pero sama tayo. Sana may mabuo... si Iblackcat. Haha. Kaya mo yan, bro.

Ano ano ba gamit dapat iprepare pag newbies? Maganda daw Pico? Pang newbie ba yun?

It is beginner friendly. Ang problema nga lang dun is that bawal na magovernight. Though pwede parin pala. You should not be afraid of heights kapag pico kasi malakas humampas ang hangin sa last part when assaulting the summit.

First climb ko pa lang nakapag 'CR' na ko sa bundok kahit walang CR talaga haha. Sa pico promise walang CR so talagang exploration mode ka dun, though meron na kong pwestuhan talaga dun haha! Every morning kasi hindi pwedeng hindi ako magbawas, either before or after breakfast. Minsan nga while having breakfast mararamdaman ko na lang bigla na tumatawag si mother nature.

I can set a climb pero not this month of May, puno na yung weekends ko eh. Another thing to consider would be the participants and their date of availability.

Never ko pa naexperience mag CR sa bundok kahit yun mga overnight climbs na nasamahan ko dati.

These are the things that I usually bring during an overnighter sa bundok.

1 set of clothes pangtulog (which also serves as pampalit after setting up camp and usually pambaba ko na din ng bundok the following day)
1 set of clothes pang wash up
1 towel and 1 face towel (face towel to freshen up after setting up camp kasi wala naman liguan sa taas)
Slippers / sandals
Sleeping bag
Tent + footprint
Eating utensils
Mess kit
2 1.5L nalgene
3L bladder
Cook set + stove (most of the time)
Powerbank + cables
Headlamp + extra battery

If you have personal medicines that you need to take, dapat dalhin din. Most of the time meron kameng med person so hindi ako nagdadala ng med kit

What not to bring? Yung unnecessary things na hindi mo naman kelangan sa which will add up to the weight of your bag.

Goodluck sa gastos sa maculot haha! I suggest you go overnight na lang sa Manabu then dayhike sa Maculot para less expenses. Plus, you get to enjoy the awesomeness of Tatay Herman's halo halo :)

Yes sir! Mandatory guideship na kasi sa Maculot ngayon unlike before when we first went there. If I remember it right 400php for a group of 5 for the regular trail then 1k for a group of 5 kapag naman traverse. Tapos the indicated fee doubles up kapag overnight.
