heyya! sali ako...
first time ko magpost dito, pero i've been visiting this site since last year...

i just got engaged last 2 wks ago..
next year pa naman wedding. so i guess 1 year preps.

to sis @juliepie, i can feel your sentiments... the feeling that somehow you wanted a ring before the preps para at least even without saying it people know na engaged na kayo.

in my case, my bf was asking about the wedding date even before we got engaged, and if tinatanong nya ko kung kelan ko gusto ko pakasal, ang lagi ko sagot is "secret."

bad ko noh? maarte ako eh, gusto ko may ring muna bago mag usap about the wedding.... hehe...

in your case, just ask na lang si fiance: so engaged na tyo? kelan nga tayo na engage? in a casual tone of course... then pabiro ka na lang mag ask bout the ring... for all you know pinag iipunan pa nya un...
may ibang guys kasi, tingin nila hindi na need ng engagement, just ask na lang.

Got engaged a few weeks back, getting married on November 2015 so that's 1 year 7 months prep. Right now scouting palang kami ng venue, wala pa kaming nabook na anything. No concrete plans yet, except nagkasundo lang kami sa date.

Same with our other sisses here, I didn't receive a ring as well. For the past months we've been talking about getting married and having babies. I guess with all the future planning we decided to plan for our wedding already. That next weekend he told his parents about our plans. We haven't told my parents yet since my mom is abroad and she's going home in July so sabi ko pag-uwi na lang ni Mama. (so if my mom is somewhere out here in this forum, hi mom your youngest is getting married! LOL)

My sister had barely a month of prep din back in 2011. Kinaya naman, considering nasa 300-350 ang guests nila noon. Haha pero sobrang toxic, like everyday may inaasikaso. I was her maid of honor so sobrang partly, aligaga din ako haha nakikisali lang. Ako na yung nag act as sort of wedding coordinator nya, tas my eldest sister naman yun host nung kasal mismo. Everything went well naman except sobrang daming tao nga lang di ko naappreciate yon haha

Kami naman 6 months preparation. But before going to the venues and talking with suppliers, mega-research na ko before hand. So ang mga pinuntahan lang namin na venues at kinausap na suppliers ay yung nasa shortlist namin. Di na namin pinuntahan yung mga alam namin out of our budget (to save time ans effort na rin). Also, nagpunta rin kami sa 2 bridal fairs. Yung una to get ideas/brochures para makapamili. Yung pangalawang punta namin, dun na kami nag-book.

I had more than a year preparation. Buts still most of the time i only do it during weekends because i have work. the more time the more you can choose what you like.

i also helped my sister in her preparation, it was only 2 months.

Time has a lot of impact, you can plan on a minimal time but given you have only few options and the budget may cost much higher.

true. the biggest advantage talaga of planning early is that you can relatively cut your costs. im a jan2015 bride. but since we started planning and booking suppliers around dec2013/jan2014, we all got our suppliers at their 2013 rate.  :D

Our wedding will be on March 2016. Tingin nyo ba mga sis, too early ako mag scout/ research for suppliers?

Happy preps!  ;)

i suggest na magresearch research ka na. yung iba kasi nagbu book agad sa suppliers para maabutan nila mas murang rates. depende yun kung gaano ka-in demand yung suppliers na gusto mo. Halimbawa sa church- Manila Cathedral, in demand yun.. yung mga well-recommended-but-so-far-affordable-coordinators, dapat maaga talaga i-book. kasi ako di ko nakuha yung top choices ko talaga ka na coord. although happy naman ako sa current coord ko. di naman ako nagregret kasi the next talaga after we got engaged, nagstart na agad ako mag-prepare.

april 9 yung engagement. pero years before pa, even while nasa law school pa ako, nag reresearch research na ako kahit di pa ko sure kung kami na nga magkakatuluyan. basta as a girl siguro, i wanted to research early sa look and feel na gusto ko for my wedding. so i already had pegs for wedding gowns, inivites, reception decor, theme, venue, shoes, entourage clothes, souvenirs, etc. noon. tapos mga ilang years pa lang naitatayo yung mga mango farm and iba pang wedding venues na sikat na ngayon. kala ko nga sa mango farm din ako ikakasal, kaso booked na rin sila nung nag-inquire ako. nung nakahanap naman ako, biglang tinext nila ako na available na daw yung date ko. haha. iniisip ko kapag ganun na talagang not meant to be lang.

things change kasi noon, mexican fiesta themed wedding talaga yung pinag kaabalahan ko iresearch na theme. alam ni bf yun nung mga panahon na yun na mahilig ako magreserch for my wedding kaya alam niya na more or less kung ano style na wedding gusto ko. we were supposed to look for a mariachi band pa nga.

pero dahil sa iba pang mga factors, and as professionals, we had to adjust din na gawing mas formal at mas "mature" yung theme namin...so i picked a theme na gusto ko rin naman. but not as colorful as i imagined when i was 20 years old pa lang..

around 2 years before my bf proposed, he talked to me na about his plan to save for our wedding and our future together. as in after a date, while on the way sa bahay, he talked to me about the computations that he made. haha. OC kasi yun pagdating sa money matters. ako naman sa planning aspect. at style. so when he proposed i have been waiting for it. and was actually starting to get anxious kung kelan kaya darating yung araw na yun. haha. and ganun pala yun, kahit na hinihintay mo na mangyari, maooverwhelm ka pa rin at masspeechless for a while kasi parang panaginip talaga. kahit na simpleng proposal lang yun. walang video, walang candle light, walang music, walang ibang tao. and i was definitely not dressed for his suprise on that memorable morning.

haha sorry mga sis for the long post and kuwento about my engagement. haha. konti lang kasi nashare-an ko about it.  :-*

Thanks sis fionaapple! Actually, preparing na din kami and we attend bridal fairs pero napag-usapan namin na January 2015 na lang kami magbook ng suppliers para makapag research pa ng mas matagal :)
