Length of Preparation

I am not sure if there's an existing thread already but I want to know how much time you spent on your wedding preparation. I am doing this survey for my site about weddings.

a) 3 - 6 months
b) 1 year
c) 1 year 6 months
d) 2 years or more

kami sis 1 year and 8 months. And unang una naming binook is yung church dahil merong iba na dapat at least a year magpareserve ka na dahil mabilis mapuno. saka enough time para makapag unti unti ng payments before the big day HTH!

2 years kami. We booked the church we like on our 3rd month of being engaged. Book agad namin yung church kasi popular wedding church sya. Then next 6 months research research lang muna then paunti unti kaming nag downpayment sa mga suppliers na gusto namin. 1 year na kaming engaged, we booked our major suppliers, then on to the wedding details na.

January pa lang, booked na halos lahat ng suppliers namen. And as of this writing, kumpleto na kame. We are also done with our misalette (for approval na lang), drafted the reception program na din. yung wedding website namen is already published (kasabay nung pag send out namen ng save the date cards), other details na lang like rsvp & gift registry tsaka na lang kapag na send out na din ang invitations.

Kami 1.5 years kase need pa mag-ipon ipon then also kinonsider din namin yung families based overseas kelangan sila pede makauwi ng pinas.

pasali din mga sis. 2 years din yung sa amin. first na binook is church too. we booked our major suppliers 3 months after the proposal para din makuha namin yung 2013 rates nila.

I have friends na less than 6 months ang preps. Meron din na at least 1 year. Yung mga less than 6 months ang preps, medyo mas malaki ang gastos nila compared dun sa mga at least a year.

We had 1 year and 8 months of wedding preps. ( both of us are based abroad and had our wedding in Pinas). The first we booked were the ceremony and reception venue.

Hi sisses, kami 2 years ang engagement, first namin binook and photo/video kasi affordabale na package nila after that nagstop muna kami, ngayon 1 year and 5 months na lang to our wedding pero di pa kami ulit kami nagprepare hehe Start kami ulit by august para 1 year before the wedding, sinettle muna namin financial requirements though may mga target na kami suppliers and nagpaquote na kami.

we were engaged june 2013. december2013 kami nagstart maghanap ng mga supplier. as of now, January - HMUA and Church na yung booked.

we  have prospect na rin sa ibang major supplier. =)

For May 2015 wedding

Planning period - includes research and visits. --> 3 years before
Engagement --> 2 years before
Church booking --> 16 months before
Venue and caterer booking --> 14 months before

Iba na ang OC, excited at wala pang budget.. Kelangan sobrang tagal ng prep. :-)

I had a year and a half to prepare. But in general, one year is enough to prepare at a relaxed pace with enough time to really consider your suppliers.

I only got married once (hehe) so my these tips are based solely on my experience:

Book the church and venue first

Book your wedding gown designer before August (fabric costs tend to increase in august so your designer won't have a choice but to increase his/her price)

Don't forget about your church/reception musicians. Almost all brides in my family booked them late (including me) because they forgot.

For your prenup, make sure you have an airconditioned room with access to electricity for your hair and makeup. You won't believe how many couples forget this when they do outdoor shoots and their artist doesn't have power for their hairdryer or the bride is super pawis during makeup application, that the results aren't the best. Touch ups can be done outdoors, though. It's just the first makeup application that needs to be cool and indoors.
