Is it a go or no-go?
« on: March 13, 2014, 10:24:13 pm »
Here's my situation:
I met a guy, we became bf-gf and then he proposed to me and i said yes. We are getting married on 2016.
But before all of these happened, when i was still single, i booked a europe trip with a close friend which happens to be a guy. I told my bf about the europe trip before he proposed to me. After he proposed, he said that he doesn't want me to go to anymore. I already convinced him to allow me but after i told him that i already filed my leave to my boss, he changed his mind and told me that he doesn't want me to go to again. My parents are actually against also to the idea of me going to europe with a guy even though i keep on telling them that my companion is only a friend. And now I am torn on whether to push thru with my trip or just to cancel it. The trip is a little over a month away.

Is it a go or no go?

go ahead.

once your married, mas dadami na limitations.

and you booked the trip before he proposed or you met him right? so its cool. if hes really uncomfy with it, let him join. or on that one month left, let him know the other guy more.. just let your guy be accustomed to that friend of yours. what tyoe of guy friend he is. so he'll feel a little more secured.

hassle yung ganyan eh, kasi once youre married, you wont have that much freedom na. so might as well seize the opportunity before you tie the knot. just make sure youre aware of your responsibilities, eso that youre already engaged, which a little more tricky ofcourse.

or baka naman hes just being a littly clingy, baka iits just his subtle way of saying na mamimiss ka niya so adamant siya sa idea.

bakit nga ba kayong dalawa lang nung guy? is he your closest guy friend? or what?

Tell him your friend is gay. Lol

Ako personally, don't go na lang. Is it worth the hassle? Yeah maybe. Pero you can always book the same trip with your fiance.

Kung ako ikaw at gusto ko talagang umalis, i'll go on my own will probably ask my guy friend to not come haha or separate na lang kayo mag tour if that's possible (hassle, urgh). Ooooor. If my bf and my parents dont want me to push through, i'll ask them to pay me back lahat ng gastos na nalabas ko na for the trip. Haha my sister did that once to my mom. First out of the country trip nila ng ex bf nya. Di sya pinayagan ng mom namin so the deal was mom had to pay for the tickets and hotels that were already booked

Setting aside the fact that you booked the trip before your fiance proposed, it would definitely make him uncomfortable with the idea that you are going to a place miles away from here with another guy. On that trip, there are a lot of things that could happen. And he won't be there for and with you. Okay lang siguro if your friend is a girl but your friend's a guy kahit na close friend lang. "close" could even add to his discomfort.

Let's just put it this way. Would you allow him to go on a trip abroad with a close female friend of his? :)

Be patient here, but --  how can a guy you've been with (& set to marry) not know your close guy friends?

Why are you bothered now?  IF you yourself see no impropriety in this European trip -- you will be able to explain your way through the negative reactions.

But Teka -- your Euro arrangements - you share a room with this guy friend, na hindi gay?  Uh-oh. Perhaps you can ask your tour operator for different arrangements - so you share a room with a female?

Your photos will be all over FB, etc etc etc --  if you are engaged na (and the fact is common knowledge by now) -- hindi nga ok you go on a trip alone (no other friends, no relatives) with this straight guy friend.

Hassle you gotta feed in your fiance's  feelings/preferences.  Ganyan talaga when you commit to another person. Oo, may limitations but limitations are not per se negative.  Limitations are at times for our safety, for not complicating things, for considering others' feelings & viewpoints. Hindi naman kasi lagi tama or mas tama our side.  Sometimes, you will learn soon enough - you gotta balance your wants to make the person you love happy.  Remember, the key word is: Balance.

Best wishes on your engagement.

Kahit pag ako nasa shoes ng fiance mo, hindi din naman ako papayag.  If I am in your shoes, I wouldn't be comfortable to go rin.  Either ask another girl na friend ninyo or your fiance to come along. That way, the more the merrier.

Question is - why do you want to go?
Do you want to see Europe talaga or do you want to be with your guy friend? I assume it is because you want to see Europe lang.

Don't go, wag ka na gumawa ng dahilan para ikaselos ng mahal mo though wala ka naman gagawin na masama pero mas okay na yun kesa pagmulan pa ng away. :)
