Oral Sedation for Toddlers, is it safe?

Hi everybody. I brought my 2yr old son to a pedia dentist last month for the first time. He had his teeth cleaned and flouride-d. He was cool and cooperative with the dentist.

The dentist said he needs dental fillings on his molars (grade b yung degree ng damage or cavities).

The second time we went there my son freaked out. Then we tried again a week after to no avail. The dentist said we have no choice but to orally sedate him.  My question is how safe is it? Won't it have effects on his memory or anywhere at all?

Hope medical doctors or dentists and moms whose children underwent this procedure reply.

Sis why dont you trying getting a second opinion? Ano daw gagamitin niyang drug? Check natin if indicated for children.

ni-lift ko lang to sa medical clearance ng son ko:
0.75mg/kg BW of Midazolam PO as sedative drug and
2% Lidocaine HCL w/1:100,000 Epinephrine for local anesthesia

What does this mean? Ok lang ba to sis?

^why don't you take your son to another dentist?  one he feels more comfortable with?  My kids get fillings to etc pero hindi na kailangan pa ng oral sedation.  It's always best to err in the side of caution, mas okay pa rin yung wala masyadong medication diba?  Try looking for another pedia dentist =)

sige sis maghahanap uli ako ng ibang dentist, yung dentist nya friendly naman kaso natatakot yung anak ko sa receptionist nila, makita nya pa lang nya mula sa labas nagwhiwhine na sya..

sis byutijunkie sino dentist mo? ayoko rin talaga ng mga gamot gamot, isedate pa kaya..

scary yan sis, pero di sa tinatakot kita ha dito sa US may namatay na 3 yrs old na bata dahil sa ganyan. search mo google.
