Challenge accepted!

Yung tig-20, maraming pwedeng paglagakan, either (a) pang-emergency funds, (b) pandagdag sa sideline kong loading business or (c) seed money if ever finally maglakas-loob na akong mag-branch out sa iba pang modes of investment such as mutual funds or stocks.

Long story short, the amount in the deposit product will determine the amount that you can loan.

I think this is a great idea. I'll try to do the 20 and 50 increments as well for my own personal agenda. Thanks for sharing sis!  ;)

Thank you sis smua2014

I even set up a separate bank account which is the same bank as my payroll account para madali na lang mag-transfer funds via online.

ang mahirap ay yung 50php increments. as early as now (last  week of feb) nabibigatan na ako sa hulog which is at present ay 400php. tapos may binabayaran pa akong loan na sa march or april pa matatapos, so by that time pa ako makakaluwag money-wise. what I might do is starting this 3rd week of march eh maghulog ako ng 1000 every week for 3 weeks plus yung designated na hulog ko for that week (that would be 550php, 600php and so on) para makahabok ako sa 52-week money challenge. tapos continue with the hulog na pag natapos na yung 3weeks na 1000. ayun. :)

I will start this challenge na rin.. sana makaipon na ko.. sounds easy pero parang mahiral din esp. Pag may baby..

question lang mga sis, where do you get the fund for this challenge? Is it from your usual savings or from your expenses or from your allowances?

thanks

for us (my husband and myself), we use the jar method so we divide our salaries according to different needs every month. we have a separate real savings jar (about 20%) of our salaries and then we have an allowance jar, we take the money out of what we have left of our allowance jar.

^^ pwede sa salary and sa iba pang source of income.

oh we don't use real jars  ;D it's just the term for the method of dividing our money. we transfer our real savings jar directly to our joint savings account.

it's okay if you delay investing in stocks, it's really best to make an informed investment after reading up on the companies you want to invest in and having confidence in those companies.

happy saving and investing!

thanks sa reply mga sis. but yes, from salary kasi what i do just like the most of you, i divide our salary into percentage din. Expenses, Savings and "tithes". So imposible makakuha pa ako from my allowance. So kung ibabawas ko din sya sa savings, parang ang labo lang kasi nabawasan din yung alloted for our savings. Kung sa expenses naman, merong mababawas sa expenses like what? Eh ang usual expenses namen eh utility bills and food/grocery. Maybe sa leisure fund? 5k a month din kasi yung leisure fund namen and if kumpletuhin ko siya til Dec, parang wala na kaming leisure fund all through out.

Ang challenging nga grabe. Ngayon sustain ko pa kasi i am doing on 20s lang. What if sa mga susunod na buwan na? Hahaha, grabeng challenge.

Advices naman please. thanks! :)

i think if you look through your utility bills and food/grocery budget, you'll find areas where you can save.

what we did was that we gave ourselves a $200 allowance monthly ($50 weekly) then we monitored every single item we bought out of that allowance. we found out that eating out for lunch, and sometimes dinner, took a lot out of our allowance - a meal at the cbd for me is usually around $10-$15. realizing this, we estimated how much the cost would be to just cook our lunches at home and then pack them when we go to work. if we cook lunch for 2 for 5 days, our cost would just be $25-$30 compared to both of us eating out for lunch at work, which is $100. from this, we easily save $75 between the 2 of us.

we also practice the "give it 3 days" rule when we see something and we get the "i must buy it" feeling, we step back and ask ourselves, will i still want to buy this after 3 days? do i really need this?

and you're right, maybe you can look into the 5k leisure fund monthly - there are ways to have leisure and enjoy life without having to pay so much  ;) we are both nature lovers so we love going to parks. sometimes, we also check out art galleries, which we can enter for free. or even just go to the bookstore to browse and smell the books is enough.

the 52-week money challenge is there just to augment our savings but it shouldn't replace our real savings.
