unfair, unfair, unfair!!
« on: December 23, 2013, 04:34:37 pm »

And how do you know na mataas ang evaluation nya? Di ba, confidential info yun?

I suggest you stop observing her. Just focus on your work. Good work is the best revenge.

Correct. Pursue excellence in your work and you will feel less bitter about your officemate.

agree with the sisses here, just focus on your work and hopefully, you'll see the fruits of your hard work on your next eval.

just a thought lang din, maybe kaya kaya ng officemate mo to have a lot of free time on her hands is that may mga process improvements siyang na-deploy sa work niya, so in essence ma mabilis nagagawa yung work. admittedly, medyo ganun din kasi ako. i have time to post on forums, watch videos, etc kasi may mga process improvement akong dineploy sa work ko so malaking bandwidth ang na-free sa akin. no complaints naman from my bosses since i deliver quality work and pag busy naman ako talagang busy ako at hindi maistorbo.

^there's that and meron din naman yung sinasabi ni TS. Based on experience minsan talaga may mga mas okay yung evaluation just because mas magaling "makisama" sayo. Ganyan sa first work ko na inalisan ko din eventually. Im not saying na ako dapat yung na-promote and not the person na close sa Superiors. Im just saying minsan di rin naman nakikita yung performance mo. I guess if that's the case, you'll realize na that's not really the kind of company na gusto mong tagalan--pag walang equal advancement at ang promotion ay hindi based on outputs delivered.

I don't get it. Paano ninyo nalalaman yung evaluation ng co-workers ninyo. Shouldn't evaluations be confidential? In my 15 years of working, I've never seen any evaluation paper of my colleagues.

sis nasabi ko na mataas yung evaluation kasi meron samin incentives kung sino yung nakakuha ng pinaka mataas na evaluation sa quarterly performance (though di sinasabi yung mismong grade na nakuha). kasi meron free ticket to SG or malaysia na binibigay yung company namin. and kahit na ako or yung isang employee yung nakakuha ng mataas na sales for that quarter, (also announced yun per team) good attendance meaning never na late, eh sa kanya pa din napupunta yung credit. nangyari lang naman yun since kinuhang ninong sa binyag yung VP namint yung TL is nanliligaw sa kapatid nung employee na yun. pero kahit harapan ng nakikita ng TL na nagyoutube at FB, walang issue samantalang yung isang kasama namin nahuling nag like sa isang pic, na suspend agad at nung wala pa siya sa team namin is bawal na bawal yung sites na yun sa oras ng trabaho.

^^in my case we have productivity reports daily and monthly meron naman kaming 'Efficient and Effective' awards--those who have done their work with least or no errors tapos walang masyadong OT kasi natatapos ang workload given the normal office hours. of course kasama na rin dun yung commendations about initiatives/best practices para mas mapabilis yung process. plus the attendance syempre considered yun. the formal evaluations ofcourse hindi naman lalabas sa employees yan. pero more or less dapat may idea ka na if you deserve  a little advancement if you have been given recognitions.

in my previous work my teammate ako more than 3yrs na nung dumating ako sa Company and every month halos lahat ng awards sya nakakakuha which she deserves talaga naman. kaso before the year-ends may na-open na isang position and ang kinuha from our team is bagong hire lang din na kasabay ko wala pang 1year just beacause their "close". mapapa-WTH ka talaga.tsk

I think huwag din natin i-discount the fact na need din makipag-socialize minsan sa mga Superiors and at the same time do our job really well. hindi na naman old news ito. ganun talaga minsan.

Master the art of ignore-amus. Do what you have to do and don't let your work get affected. That's what I learned from experiencing this in several companies.

Hi everyone! What happened to me recently was very unfair. I am a senior employee in a local bank and recently was among those who reported our Branch Manager to our Union because of his unprofessional treatment to his staff.

Our Area Head met with him because our letter was submitted to our AVP and he was given a written reprimand. We thought everything was settled as he apologised to us for his behaviour and wanted us to start fresh...or so we thought.

One by one, all those that signed the letter was immediately transferred to other branches. I was feeling safe, because at that time I was already 3 months pregnant and our company handbook says that all pregnant employees who are in their 3rd month of pregnancy should not be transferred unless with the employees conforme.

In my case, I was already up for transfer since I have stayed the maximum time for an employee in a branch. But because of my condition I knew that they would wait before they transfer me.

Until another branch requested for a "reliever" since they are understaffed because their marketing staff was on maternity leave.

I was quite surprised when my immediate supervisor (not our Branch Head) talked to me and said I was the one that they will be sending. I did not see the email but supposedly our Boss will make sure that I will handle the marketing duties on that branch (as it is lighter compared to being a teller). I was surprised and I talked to my Branch Head about it, I asked him, " Sir do they know that the employee who will act as a reliever is also pregnant?" He replied that it won't matter because I will be just reporting there for two weeks.

Now, every things mixed up. The two weeks is upped and as per my previous boss, I am not included in their plantilla anymore and that I was now based on the branch I was just supposed to be relieving on.

I mean as an ang process diba? Walang documentation everything! To think they violated the rule about pregnant employees. Plus misleading pa sill because i never handled the marketing area since day 1. I was a teller! contrary to what they said in the first place.

My current branch doesn't have any idea either all they know is i'm just a reliever.

Any HR people who can help me?

Makatarungan ba to????

^ sis, kumusta na ang case mo. I hope you are were able to sort it out eventually.

TS, this thing also happened to me.  Nakakainis nga minsan, pero our job pays, kaya mahirap umalis.  Only alternative is to stick it out by doing your best or hanap ng ibang work.

A few years back, nag away kami ng boss ko. Silent na away. Meron kasi syang pinipilit na I did not agree on.  That's why I learned from that lesson - yung paano makisama.  Ever since kasi ako work work work lang, di ako marunong makisama.  Kung palpak ka, you will see it all over my emails or in our meetings.  I recognize that now.  Something I think I have learned, pero still developing pa na hopefully pag land ko ng next job ko, mas ma improve ko ang sarili ko.

Anyway, back to my story...  you know what my boss did?  He promoted his favorite contract employee to be my boss.  Yes he did that.  It was at a time na lowest point of my career. Kaya chummy chummy sila.  In the office, nakikita ko, people rolling their eyes. I was expecting that my boss is going to fire me soon, kasi naiinis sya na pin-point out ko yung mga mali nya, sinasabi ko mga issues and yung ino-offer kong solution, ayaw nya suportahan.

But guess what, hindi nila ako maalis.  The contract employee na naging boss ko, pinahirapan din nyako in a sense, ang daming pinapagawang impossible, kahit nagawa ko, mababa parin ang rating.  I stick it out. Because the company pays well at hindi nila mababaan ang pay ko hehe. I did got an offer from another company, but hindi ko inaccept because the pay was at least 30% lower.

And iyang boss na walang alam (contract employee), rated my peers higher than mine kasi daw expectations nya sakin higher blah blah blah. Tiniis ko yun.

Ngayon, nasa company parin ako. The contract employee and my old boss left na the company. The succeeding bosses I had valued my presence in my department.  It's all politics.  Just make sure you deliver. Kahit ano pang sabihin nila, wala silang masasabi sayo na wala kang ginawa.

Call me snobby, but I only partially agree with your sentiments about your other officemates being "unfair". The part I don't agree with is the part about your office mates having more friends and being closer to your bosses. People can be close to whoever they want to be. If your teammates are close to each other but not you, that's their choice and you don't have a say on that. You can be the nicest person in your office, but not everyone has to like you. Fact of life.

As for their behavior, ignore them. You're doing your work, and you're getting paid. As long as hindi ka binabawasan ng sweldo, or binibigyan ng extra work na hindi naman sa contract without extra pay, don't complain. Just do your job, work hard, and be the best employee you can be. It will reap its own benefits someday.

Sorry if I sound mean. Pero, sometimes, I just think it's better to ignore than to be bothered by others.

It's so unfair knowing that your salary is not aligned with your position, knowing that when there are new recruits on the office, they get their pay which are align to their positions. 😔 I just don't know how to tell this to ny boss that they are being unfair to their employees.

Sasabihin niya meron siyang outside work blah blah.

Haha! Kaming mga years na nag work sa office na iyon, stagnant ang career, siya ang bilis ng promotion. Hahaha! Unfair.

Umalis din ako eventually. Too much politics in that company.

Sa lahat ng company merong politics, some are just worse than the others. Pansin ko din there are times it's not enough that you do your job well if you want to be promoted or be rated higher than your peers. Kelangan din marunong kang makisama, be a people person kahit paano. Unless you're so good that they can't ignore you.

So yun.

Malakas talaga! Haha. POWER.

It's always going to be unfair.  Just don't let it eat you up.
