Jackie chan (Real name: Chan Kong Sung ) is a workaholic who forged his success at the expense of his family,  He was an absentee father and husband who at one point according to jaycee saw them only once a year for 6 years.    He was an excellent provider though in exchange of his absence that led jaycee to become a extravagant loving spoiled kid.

Jackie was a flirt who had an illegitimate daughter who is 12 years old today.

He gave jaycee micheal Jacksons gloves worth $350,000 on his 27th birthday gift.

Too bad bad for jaycee, he was pampered with wealth by his absentee father that led him astray this is why his father said he regretted not sending him to military school to build character.

actually, if you search much deeper in the net, you'd find a lot of billionaire parents who had decided not to leave anything to their Children. if i'm not mistaken, as of typing this, Bill Gates and his wife is part of this school of thought and if my memory serves me correct, he is also spear heading this paradigm.

as for Jackie Chan, well, my POV is, either way it was of his own doing. The kid shouldn't bear the brunt of his past doings. Pampering is easy to do specially if you have money. in fact, to me its an escape. an easy way out. hindi porket may naibigay ka nang pera basta basta quits na lang.

my personal position on this, if i were in their shoes (rich parents shoes), i'd leave something for my children, probably have it locked in a trust or bank. and have it released when they reach 40yrs of age.

if they're already rich in their own way by that time. it can be nothing or a small boost to their lives.
if they're still struggling, it will be a boost. now if they put it to waste. okay lang. kasi from a tree to the fruit, iyun ang pagmamahal ko, depite all the pagkukulang.

the tough love here is not giving everything to them, but at the same time giving something to at least alleviate their lives, bilang mga anak ko. at least sa late age na yun, dapat may maturity na sila. they can save it for their future retirement and or medical bills. or invest it. bahala sila. mahalaga sa akin, in this life, sa buhay na naibigay ko sa kanila, at least may konting pagsasandalan sila pag matanda na sila. of course subject pa eto to more conditions. hahaba lang post ko.

simply put, I personally do not believe in a total cut off. may purpose yan bakit sila dumating sa buhay mo...

Tama sis Lute. Parang I also read somewhere na halos wala na mamanahin sila Paris Hilton kasi their grandfather had donated most of his money sa charity. The good thing is, sila Paris has their own businesses.

But still, it is unfair for a parent to not leave anything to their child/children. It is not a guarantee that they will have the same luck as their parents had.

Matagal na 'tong balita about Jackie Chan. It's really sad whatever his reason is.

Jackie was very successful in a lot of things except his family life.

We would want to copy his positive trait such as charisma, dedication, perseverance, discipline and goal oriented something he acquired in his childhood by being enrolled on a very strict and stringent Chinese opera for a decade (hence the reference of sending his kid to a tough environment such as military school to straighten him up)   However, his parental skill is very lacking (he is not a loving/doting dad ) and not an ideal husband (he not a caring husband until very later in his life) anyone would wish for inspite the charisma he projected.   He was a self confessed male chauvinist and a flirt.  Obsessive on cleaniliness.

And I agree with lute, his son jaycee become what he is now due to using wealth as substitute for lack of parental presence.   Jackie smoldered them with material comfort as guilt payment for all the years of absence.

I heard also before na Jackie even preferred having the son of Will Smith than his own real son. Imagine that. I-compare raw ba.

I agree with sis Lute and sa inyo mga sis.

For me din, hindi tama na kahit isang kusing eh wala kang iwanan for your kids, kasi hindi lang pera ang usapan dito, pero yung bilang isang magulang, magamit mo yung kayamanan mo to ensure good future for your child.

I love them, and that how much I trust them.

sabagay, I am not naman a billionaire hahaha.

sometimes parents simply need to be more open.

for humans to grow the universe will give us challenges. they way i see Jacky Chan is that he has strict ethics etc. The universe, keeping in line with human growth and evolution, will definitely test a person (JC in this case) by giving him something that is opposite his divine make up. JC's son is probably the opposite.

so imho, parents should stop looking at themselves and start looking at their children. its like an orange tree being given a mango seed.

There's always that gap. to bridge the gap is the lesson and challenge.

again, escapism for JC, Jaden is not his son, and definitely Jaden puts his best foot forward when relating with a "living legend."

Let's face it, we all have our ups and downs with our family members, a lot of times, we can go "all out" with them and it would be called a domestic problem by outsiders. On the other hand, you simply can't go all out with someone not related to you. JC can't show his negative side to Jaden without angering Will Smith.

i pray for the healing of the mag-ama. sana magkabatian sila habang may panahon pa.

IMO, If the intention is to favor other people than his children, wrong (hello anong klase kang ama inuna mo pa ang ibang tao). But if the intention is to teach his children to be responsible, matured to stand on their own and build their own wealth, maaring tama siya, who are we to judge his parenting style. He knows his children better kahit sabihin pang absentee father siya, ano pa kaya tayo na nagbabasa lang ng buhay nila. And for me, as long as he provide their needs (his children) until they can live on their own, I think there is nothing wrong donating all his wealth to charity. Sabi pa nga ng iba, better spend it all than to have them fight when you die  ;D.

True enough, Jackie Chan failed to be a good father to his own son.

It's really hard to judge jackie chan in his past decisions.  But i agree with sis lute about opening a trust fund so my child can have something from me when he / she reaches 40.  By that time, if he or she is successful, additional money nalang niya yun :)

My parents aren't giving me anything that's why I'm working hard for myself.  Pero my dad did say that we will get something when he is gone, and that is not making me happy.  Who wants my dad gone diba?  My point is malaking tulong yung upbringing samin, we don't really need our parents money to survive and enjoy life from time to time.
