I agree with this one.

I mean yung nakuha talaga ang lalaki at naging happily ever after?  Just wanna know.

Ex ko had a mistress for over 10 years ng pagsasama namin. Nung matauhan nako at hiniwalayan ko na sya and let him go, after a year or so lang, wala na agad sila ni mistress kasi may #3 na sya!  Nasa lalaki talaga eh.

Sis katrinac... 'been there done that' ang say ko diyan!!! haha.. tama lahat yan... Ayan nanaman sila lahat. Eventually napagod na ako.

Thank God for setting me free and for forgiving me... He made me realize everything and helped me get out of that mess. Grabe talaga.

This is true. However sometimes when we're blinded and oxytocins takes too much place in our minds, it's when we end up doing the wrong thing. No matter how aware are we that it's wrong.

Ayon sa aking mga nabasa eh meron. Pero it's like 2% lang daw. Kumbaga VERY RARE yung mga ganung situations. And even if they(the other woman and the separated married man) went living together and their relationship gets well after choosing each other, one thing they won't be losing is them 'being suspicious' most of the time with each other. And usually talaga si mistress/other woman/third party and iniiwan ng lalaki kasi they knew very well(hindi man nila i-voice out kay mistress) na hindi pangmatagalan ang relationship na ganun and that it's all based on lies and that laru-laro lang sa kanila yun. Kaya si kawawang girl na nagsasabing 'nagmahal lang naman ako kaya ko nagawa 'to' eh naiiwang luhaan at sugatan at the end of the day when reality eventually takes place. Speaking from my own experience.

Been following this thread for some time. And yes I was a mistress, in every sense of the word. May asawa't anak sya. Ako wala. I say WAS, because that was a looong time ago. I'm married now, with a truly wonderful husband who knows about my past. Last time I saw my former partner, he was with a woman who wasn't his wife. Whether he's still with his wife, I don't know. Whether the woman I saw him with is his new mistress, I don't know. We didn't speak to each other anymore and I hope and pray to God almighty that I never see him again. It was, and remains to be, the biggest mistake of my life and I will regret it as long as I live.

I don't know why I feel compelled to join the discussion, but maybe because I recently talked to my friend who discovered that her husband has a mistress. She was devastated, of course. I offered her some insights from my point of view. A mistress is a mistress is a mistress, yes, but mistresses come in all shapes and sizes, and affairs happen differently.

Is it just about sex?
At the beginning yes, it could be. But real feelings do get developed over time. It's not a concept that people can easily accept, maybe because it's easier and more convenient especially for the wives to think of the affair as purely physical. Harder to accept when there are emotions involved. So is there "love" involved? Regardless of how you define love, the mistress and the partner still "feel" love. They might be  mistaking it for passion, or for desire, or whatever else, but both  mistress and partner will claim that whatever they're feeling is love. And it's hard to argue with that.

Most of the time, wala. It's not being cold-hearted or cruel. I didn't have any particularly strong feelings about her. I didn't like her, but I didn't hate her. I never thought much about her, period. She was just another woman to me. If she were drowning in a pool I was swimming in, I would try and save her or call a lifeguard. Just like I would for any person. The wife doesn't figure prominently in a mistress' mind. I think it's also because we mistresses think, you deal with your sh*t, I deal with mine.

Why doesn't the mistress just leave the married man kung alam naman nya mali ang lahat?
I think this is the hardest to explain. Yes you know it's wrong, but sometimes you just don't want to do the right thing lalo na kung wala ka pa naman nasasaktan. It's like being faced with two paths: this path, no matter how wrong, is HERE, it's what's happening NOW, the other path, is just a mere possibility, it's not tangible, not concrete. That you can destroy families, that you can hurt others as well as yourself, is not yet THERE. It's just a possibility, a distant thought. Unlike what you have at that moment, which is very real. Also, if I may say so, mahirap din umalis especially when you know sa sarili mo, hindi ka masamang tao. Yes you're a mistress, pero hindi ka masamang tao. You tell all these things to yourself and you manage to convince yourself of these things kaya napakahirap.

Anong gusto mo mangyari?
In my case, no. What I wanted was for me to be with him without anybody getting hurt, which was of course impossible. Even in my darkest, lowest points, I didn't want him to leave his family. I think deep down I wanted an assurance of some sort, of any sort. I don't know what.

I don't know, but I didn't think I had issues when it happened. I have no daddy issues that I know of, my parents are together, and are very loving. I had friends, I had normal relationships with men who were single. I had a very normal life.

This is difficult to explain. For me the attraction was just so great, and as I said, hindi ko naman kilala yung asawa. Siguro nga I was lonely and didn't know it. Maybe life was so normal it got boring. I think part of it was just, ganon ang buhay. Maraming sorpresa. You meet people and everything you thought you knew about yourself, whatever values you thought you had, flies out the window. I thought I knew myself, hindi pala. Siguro also part of it was what I was saying earlier, it's what's here, NOW, him, me, the moment.

Were you truly, genuinely happy?
I had moments of bliss. Peace, not so much. Genuine happiness, I don't know. If I had thought about that then, I would say no. But I didn't, or maybe didn't want to.

Mahal. Mahal na mahal even. But sometimes you do things that hurt the ones you love. I learned that it's hard to define love because it's really just the most complex emotion.

Did you ever talk about the wife?
Never. Except for things like, "Can't go today. Birthday at home." And we both know it's not his birthday we're talking about.

Are mistresses similar to the wives?
In my case, no. I was nothing like his wife.

What do you do together, aside from have sex?
We talk. We watch TV. We eat and ask each other how was your day. We talk about other people. We laugh about stupid things. We help with the chores. We complain about work. We fight. Just like your regular couple, except that it's not regular.

Aren't you afraid of karma?
Whatever the universe will dish out to me, I will accept. But I've forgiven myself because I know that people who don't forgive themselves are bound to repeat the same mistakes. Which I don't want, not only for myself, but for other people.

So there. Point of view of a mistress (former mistress, but a mistress nevertheless). Please feel free to ask me questions if that will help you understand more. My past is past, and it was imperfect as can be, and hopefully some good will come out of it.

^ great post nathanielle  ;D

We will never really get to the root cause of why philandering husbands do what they do and why mistresses allow such affairs to happen, because we are all fueled by different motives, priorities, dreams, desires etc.

I just wish mistresses would realize early-on that engaging into an affair with a married man is a no-win situation for everyone involved.  :)

for me, a mistress will always be a mistress. ginawa na eh.

BUT kahit na mistress siya noon, if dumating na sa point na nagsisi siya at tinanggap na mali siya, deserve rin niya na maging happy. after all, lahat naman ng tao pwedeng magsisi, magbago at maging maayos di ba? nasa tao lang talaga.

pero as a former 'other woman' we have to forgive ourselves first. and most importantly to God.

^ I just had a few questions to sis Natahanielle which I hope she doesn't mind answering, and I hope also I don't offend her by asking these,, i'm just thinking now that you were a former mistress, if you will be a legal wife someday, regardless of the circumstances would you be open minded to the idea that you're husband will have No. 2 ? If yes, would you be understanding to the other woman also?

Why I'm asking these questions? this is not to pin down the other party ah. i'm curious if these reasons ever exists in the mind of a mistress or kahit sa ex-mistress. especially now that you are on the other side and possibility that you will be the legal wife someday,, will you be kind to their situation if it happens to you?

we are in the culture where we are told to believe in Karma na whatever goes around comes around di ba?,, minsan eto yung nagpapahinto sa mga single ladies to involve into this kind of relationship.

when i was still single I almost involved myself to a married man (mahal ko na siya before ko nalaman may asawa) kaso this righteous reason of karma came to my head at the time and I have to stop it immediately. now that i'm married, i always tell my husband kapag ginawa niya yun expect 100% that I will never ever understand him neither his other woman,, kasi I've been there and I always believe you have the "choice" not to do it. kung pumatol ako sa may asawa nuon,, then by all means,, I deserve to understand them.

kaya I advised my close friend who is tempted to try this,,  ' na wag mong gawin ang isang bagay kung ikaw mismo hindi mo kakayanin kung gagawin din yan sayo. ' in short,, wag gumawa ng sariling multo babalikan ka balang araw.

To lovemeagain30, no offense taken and I'll try to answer your question as best as I can. First of all, I AM already married. To a wonderful husband who knows and has accepted my past.

Will you be open minded to the idea of your husband having a mistress?
Do you mean will I accept the idea of my husband having a mistress? I will be devastated if I learn my husband has a mistress. First of all, I love him very much and I will be very hurt. I may understand it somehow, but it won't diminish the hurt I know I will feel. If that's my karma in life, then so be it, but it won't mean the pain and hurt will be any less. And that won't mean na I'll be kind. I think I will feel what any wife will feel - pain, hurt, anger. Maybe I'll even feel TWICE the pain, the hurt, the anger.

Second, I don't think I can accept it because I worked very very hard to turn my life around. If there's anything I am sure of, it's that ayoko na ng magulong buhay. I can't say for sure whether I will leave my husband, mahirap naman magsalita, but I will be devastated for sure.

The thing is, I wasn't thinking about the concept of karma then. In fact, it was one of the furthest thing from my mind. Again it's the concept of the here and now VS karma in the future. It's very difficult to think of the consequences in the future when what you have now, whether it's just passion, or desire, or love, was overwhelming. It has something to do with the thought that you will deal with the consequences WHEN you have to or IF they come at all. Right now, there's me, and him, and THIS. This all consuming THIS. You don't really know how consuming it can be until you're there and then it seems like there's no turning back. It starts out innocently, and you don't know how far and how deep you're sinking until you've actually sunk.

Believe it or not, I still had been going to mass the whole time we were together. Siguro a part of the reason why there was not much fear in karma, was that we honestly believed we weren't bad people. We loved our families, we loved our friends, we would never intentionally harm people. There are many things you can convince yourself of when you're in that situation and one of it is that you're not bad people deep down.

Of course people would say otherwise, and I won't blame them.

Something I came across that I would like to share to everyone... Since we're in the topic of Being a Mistress.

Etiquette for Mistresses
Etiquette for Mistresses.. and what wives can learn from them     by: Julie Yap-Daza

Allow me to share to you the following etiquettes for us mistresses:

1) Mistress is not Mrs. Know you place.
No.2 is not No.1, and ne’er the twain shall meet. And they better not.

2) Even if he tells you he loves you more than his wife, don’t let that go to your head.
As a rule, men are liars.

3) Mistresses should be ready to give up Valentine’s Day, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, Holy Week and his birthday.
Mistresses are also called “holiday orphans,”…

4) Be friend his secretary but avoid all contact with his driver.
Unless your married man is carrying on with his secretary, she can be an invaluable asses in your relations or relationship with him-relations as in sex, relationship as in a working or living arrangement.

5) As tempting as it seems, don’t patronize the wife’s beauty parlor, jewelry shop, dress shop, or father confessor.

6) DON’T CALL HIM, WAIT FOR HIM TO CALL.

7) To be seen with him in public once is risky. The second time could be fatal to one of you. The third time is The End for both of you.
Love is lovelier when it’s forbidden. Because it’s forbidden it’s supposed to be hidden.

8 ) Never believe, and never say anything unfriendly about his wife, not even after he recites a litany of her faults.
Sooner or later, some mistresses feel so loved that they begin to think f the wife as the other woman.

9) Mistresses are kept by rich men. But a mistress who is a woman of substance and independent means is better. (Translation: Don’t ask him for money.)

10) Be discreet. (Make sure he is not the type to talk in his sleep.)
There is no fool like a fool in love.

11) Never travel together.
Accidents will always happen.

12) When he breaks a date, charge it to fate, not his fecklessness.

13) Wives have their own networks of spies and amigas. It is helpful for the mistress to have her own. A chaperone is not a good idea, however. (Chaperones are passe. Besides, they talk.)
Because of her position and location in the underground, the mistress is a lonely woman.

14) Mistresses don’t complain.
They shouldn’t. It’s the wives, according to their husbands, who are always complaining.”

15) Being No.2, the mistress tries harder.
At the end of the day (night), she goes home without him. Or he goes home without her with a higher value that when they met yesterday.

16) Send him home as soon as it becomes apparent that he’s overstaying.
What do men do after sex? According to conventional wisdom 10% smoke, 20% fall asleep, and 70% go home to the wife.

17) It is practical for a mistress to be linked to anther man, preferably her lover’s friend.
In the age of the liberated woman, who needs a chaperone? Ah, maybe not, but she needs a beard.

18) If he is a public man and you’re thinking of staging an accident of running into him, think: How many accidents can I pull off in one month?
Its a woman's nature to want to be loved and be seen as being loved.

19) Don’t make unnecessary enemies of his children.
If you listen to mistresses and their stories, the world is full of love and short on loving.

20) Remind him to pay for everything in cash – dinner, flowers, perfume, champagne, pearls, diamonds, a microwave oven, etc.
In God we trust but pay in cash you must.

21) Don’t use tears as a weapon. He’s probably had enough of that from the Mrs.
Wives nag. Wives cry. If only for that reason, a mistress doesn’t use tears to get what she wants.

22) Resist the urge to be found out.
For every action, the laws of nature decree an equal and opposite reaction.

23) Perish all thought that someday you’ll be No. 1
One should always be in love. That is the reason why one should never marry. – Oscar Wilde

24) Married men who keep mistresses don’t like surprises, as a rule.

25) A man with a mistress leads a double life, his mistress only half life. Cheer up! A career will make you whole.
Life in the modern world has put women on an equal footing with men. There is nothing a man can do that a woman cannot.

26) Resist the urge to shower him with gifts. Evidence, evidence…!
Love is not love until it is expressed.

27) When in doubt, disappear.

28) When all else fails, leave him.
Some mistresses make it; more do not.

Technically when you're 'in' the affair, pag kasama mo yung affair partner mo, hindi sa ayaw mong isipin yung wife niya, or hindi ka nagi-guilty. Pano ba i-explain. It's like a non-verbal agreement/understanding between you and the married man/affair partner na wag siyang pag-usapan. And when you're together, you will never think about 'other people'. Pag magkasama kayo, it's as if the wife doesn't/didn't exist. It's the affair partner that matters and nothing else. You're subconsciously aware that he has a wife and that it's wrong, however it's the selfish feeling that oxytocins produce that makes your rationality blurred. Isa pa, why waste your time thinking about his wife when it was happening eh sandali mo na nga lang nakakasama si guy na iyong affair partner? sabi nga diba,

Quote
The wife doesn't figure prominently in a mistress' mind. I think it's also because we mistresses think, you deal with your sh*t, I deal with mine.

It's like an auto-block mode sa utak ng mga mistresses. When you're in the heat of the affair, nawawala ang rationality sa utak mo. Yes, it's there, yes, you know you're wrong but you willingly refuse to act on it. Only the mistress herself can turn that 'mode' to switch 'off'.
