3-year old toddler, sobra tigas ng ulo?
« on: November 29, 2013, 05:54:43 am »
mga sis, i don't know if this topic is appropriate here. pero sana po may makatulong

hi sis,

children naturally are matigas ang ulo, as we put it. lalo na toddler years.  why? kasi they're curious and they explore.

try to extend more patience pa. like for the things na hindi naman masyadong need sawayin, let her be and let her explore.  she will learn naman from there.  pray for patience, sis.  ask hubby to help you in disciplining her din.

sistah!

and especially with a new baby, im sure you are tired, stressed and lack sleep. that's also a probable reason why you have a shorter fuse with her. maybe you can get a yaya or a trusted relative (lolo or lola?) to help you with the kids so you can have some room to breathe and deal with everything.

1.  Set boundaries.  Explain in simple language that for every action, there is a consequence.
2.  Keep your toddler occupied with enriching activities (i.e., not TV or Ipad or computer games).
3.  Be consistent in enforcing discipline.
4.  Regarding her behavior in school, talk to the teacher, ask for advice and establish a plan on how to deal with her when she misbehaves.
5.  Minimize screen time since the fast moving images of television shows, even cartoons and educational ones, may contribute to a short attention span and hyperactivity.
6.  Spend time with your toddler and show her attention, positive attention (without shouting, spanking, or getting mad at her).

Kaya ganito ginagawa namin:
-pagpasok sa bahay ang unang naming hahanapin at babatiin, pupurihin si 3 year old.
-may gift silang magkapatid na magkapareho para walang inggitan.
-lagi namin sinasabi na love namin siya, "i love you B...." with hug and kiss pa kami sa kanya, then sasabihin namin na 'love mo ba si tita A...(ako)?', then, 'love mo rin ba si baby brother?'.
-then never forget rin na makipag laro sa kanya, sing to him as if baby pa rin siya.

So far, medyo nale-lessen ang pagka matigas ang ulo. Hopefully matuto na rin.  ;)

I have a 2-year old daughter who started being so makulit when her brother was born. I read somewhere that communicating with toddlers like they are adults can help improve their behavior so we tried it out.

I don't get angry right away. Ang sasabihin ko lang sa kanya, "Are you bored? Do you want to draw?" Sabi kasi give them options and activities. Never ask why she/he did what she/he did and wag daw nega agad ang reaction. Pag sinaktan ang baby, remind your toddler na siya ang nakakatanda ang dapat love niya si baby like you love and take care of her.

Our youngest is turning 1 na and our 2-year old is turning 3. So far, ang laking improvement yung calm na communication with her. She's very behaved, says what she wants instead of throwing tantrums and looks after her brother. :)
