HELP! My 3 years old baby is losing weight.
« on: November 27, 2013, 12:03:42 pm »
Nung 1st week matakaw pa sya sa milk, pero later on halos isang bottled milk na lang yung nauubos nya for a whole day.
Masigla naman sya kumilos at puro laro.
Wala rin syang masamang nararamdaman sa katawan according to her.
I gave her Ceelin chewables 100mg and Growee as vitamins naman.
Kayo mga sis, normal lang bang mawalan o humina yung gana sa pagkain ng mga kids nyo when they reached the third year?
Naexperience nyo rin ba ito with your kids?
Kung i papa checkup ko naman sya sa pedia, anong sasabihin ko? kasi wala naman syang masamang nararamdaman im just worried kasi she's losing weight.
Ano kayang magandang gawin?
Thanks in advance GT's!

^ If it has been going on for 2 weeks already, it would still be best to bring her to the pedia for evaluation. You can simply tell the pedia your concerns regarding the lack of appetite and the weight loss. After a thorough check up, your pedia will tell you if there is a need for tests to determine the cause of the lack of appetite or simply give you recommendations.
The lack of appetite with corresponding weight loss is abnormal in itself. You don't have to weight for other symptoms to surface before bringing her to the pedia.

It is a valid concern that you can consult with your pedia sis. I have a 3 year old daughter too and konting kakaiba na mapansin ko, I bring her to the pedia agad.

Ever since we weaned my daughter off the bottle, humina sya mag-milk. 1-2x a day na lang sya mag-milk compared to 6-8 bottles before. I think this is the age na sume-selan sila sa food or nagiging disinterested with food pero dapat ma-guide lang talaga. I'm very strict with meals kase and when we eat, we have her join us at the table talaga. I dont like yung nagpplay pr nagwwatch ng TV while eating.

sis @twelvth_goddess

Hopefully ma-regain nya yung weight nya.

Consult with a doctor para sure. My 2-year old was like that a few weeks ago. I tried giving her Champs M with Lysine -- magana na siya kumain ngayon. I wrote about it on my blog. :)

@orangerain yup malaking bagay nga yung vitamins, sya naman kasi yung vitamins nya growee, ceelin and fishoil. malusog sya at minsan lang magkasakit for a year kahit lagnat bihira lang.

My little girl weighs only 11 kilos and she is 3.She eats relatively well but doesn't take milk, this is due to she is fully breastfed til age 2.5 years old. She's never liked milk-flavored,in a cup, fresh,formula-none.I even went as far as buying powdered goat's milk. She's never had a nanny. Our pedia in SLMC-BGC said she has to have a full work up baka daw may nutrient deficiency na.She's ok for height at her age, it's just she is really skinny.I'm not terribly worried but I am concerned of course coz I take care of her personally, no yaya since birth then ganito pa rin (we live abroad right now).

Vitamins wise I give her Clusivol & Cherifer lang.Hndi pa nga daily ang take kasi mauubos agad.I don't personally believe it's the vitamins.I believe all toddlers go through this phase and nagiging matakaw while undergoing growth spurts. While on a "dormant" period mukha lang hindi matakaw kasi hindi na nila need yung excess calories/food.So unless sluggish na,hindi na playful and may ibang symtoms na I'd say it's not something to worry about.

Sis @bluegintonic
yung baby ko naman 20kgs sya 3 years old.
at 6 months akong nag breast feed.
simulat sapul kasi matakaw at chubby na sya kaya nagworry ako nun.
pero minsan nga payat talaga yung bata.
yung kapatid ko simula baby hangang maging toddler hangang magdalaga payat talaga.
at hindi rin pala kain, pero wag ka healthy at once in a blue moon lang magkasakit or lagnat.
 ;)

^That's good to hear.I guess depende sa tao ano ang itsura ng "healthy"na bata eh.Sa mga kaibigan naming puti, skinny and tiny tawag sa kanya, pag yung Japanese and Singaporean friends naman namin eh normal lang daw na maliit and "bigger isn't always better"daw-paano sanay sila na ang kabataan sa kanila maliit din.SA Singapore nga pinapa-diet ng mga pedia ibang kids kasi overweight daw-mostly kids of Pinoys who do not stop giving formula until the kid asks for it-even past 5 years old!

Basta active pa rin at playful I won't be worried.Let him/her ask for food so you will know they're hungry but don't press it even though it's meal time.may ibang kids na "grazers" by nature-5 small meals in day rather than the usual big 3 meals.Okay lang din yun as along as the things they're eating are healthy and not junk food/over processed foods.
