^ yup, breastfeeding causes contraction of the uterus kaya those who are breastfeeding after giving birth has less risk of bleeding kasi it helps the uterus go back to its pre-pregnancy state faster dahil nagccontract sya.

Question for the moms here. Have any of you had fever during breastfeeding? Si wifey kasi nagka fever 38.8. Before that sakit ng boobs nya because of over supply ng milk. We asked our OB she said normal daw yun. Baby cant keep up even with hourly feeding. I had her stopped taking fenugreek na (she is down to one cap per day) kasi as sobrang daming milk. Any advice on this would be appreciated. 😉

^hindi ako nagka fever but sobrang sakit din ng boobs ko nagkaron pa ko ng lump sa armpit. I stopped the supplement and the malunggay capsule. Tapos i do hot compress everynight then hot shower din. It helps, nawala yung lump sa armpit ko. And syempre breastfeed the baby as often as possible since hindi pa advisable na magpump agad.

^^ must be plugged ducts... fever is a sign of developing mastitis.. di ako umabot sa ganyan, kahit nung time na medyo oversupply ako.. though like ^, nagkalumps din ako sa boobs, sa may armpit, and even halos sa may back na... and mainit ang skin around the breast area..

Tinyaga ko sa hot compress and breast massage.. nagpa-body massage din ako, with more concentration sa back. Mga 2-3 days din before totally nawala yung lumps and super-paninigas ng boobs. and since lampas 2mos na si baby nun, nagpa-pump din ako in between feedings pag feeling puno pa din.. and mas madalas ako direct feeding nun kasi mas efficient ang pag-suck ni baby kesa sa pump.

Hi bagaholic_chewy, how many times did you use the hot compress and breast massage in a day? I guess it helps din for prevention of mastitis?

Just came from our OB, early sign of mastitis nga. No choice we have to use the pump. Every hour na feeding si baby over supply parin. I had wifey stop taking fenugreek narin. Massage and hot compress not enough na.

^^ i used to do hot compress and breast massage every 3-4hrs or whenever nakakafeel na ako ng fullness ng breasts. Me times na almost whole day ako naka-hot compress, nakabalot sa lampin then iniipit ko sa bra, kasi halos di lumiliit ang plugged ducts. Pag nagpalit ng compress, mina-massage ko naman... sa next palit, pump ako... after pump, rest for an hour siguro then hot compress uli.. and pag nagsa-shower, pinapa-run ko over the boobies for 5-10mins yung warm/hot water during final banlaw.. yung friend ko, binabad nya boobies nya sa warm/hot water sa planggana, hehe..

Actually, wala talaga ako fixed sched nun. tinatantya ko lang yung condition/feeling ng boobies ko.. takot kasi ako magka-mastitis, and ayoko umabot sa need ko mag-antibiotic, kaya tinyaga ko sa compress+massage...

@bagaholic sabi din ng OB pump pag you feel puno. Direct feeding parin si baby. The milk we pump hinihingi ng brother in law ko for applying sa face nya. 😃

@air haha sabi pa nga ng OB namin wifey can donate. Still direct feeding kami. Will only switch to bottle pag wifey starts working na.

^ yeah, your wife can donate her excess bm. I used to donate din. 2x sa pgh (they can pick-up, kelangan lang mag-set ng schedule), and many times sa mga breastmilk requests sa Breastfeeding Pinays (minsan, dinala ko sa SLMC NICU; but kadalasan e pinipick-up sa bahay nung nangangailangan ng milk).

Yup we are thinking of donating kasi mukhang sobra sa beauty needs ni brother in law. Either we donate to SLMC or yung malapit na hospital dito.

my 2 weeks old baby latches all day parang ginawa na niyang pacifier. this day lang naman sa ibang araw naman ok kami every hour or 2 hours. ganito ba minsan babies nyo?

^ mommy, baka growth spurt.. ganyan minsan ang babies, parang comfort nursing ginagawa.. lilipas din yan. Hehe..

^ depende sa baby e. minsan 2 days, yung iba a week. pero ako, i stopped counting na sa days na ganyan sya. eventually i learned to live with it kasi fussy baby talaga anak ko from the beginning. lately madali na sya patahanin, mahaba na tulog and hindi na iyak ng iyak kaya sarap na alagaan kahit papano.

For those taking fenugreek to find out if you are taking the right dose your sweat should smell like maple syrup. If walang maple syrup smell then kulang ang dosage nyo. DO NOT take fenugreek if you have not given birth kasi it causes contractions. Take it once you have given birth.
